Forgive if this has been discussed, but I have nothing to add on the alternative topics of who is someone's granny or who WTF banged at Ft Knox. FM might have tried to call his daughter from his work or residence land line in Bridgeport, CT on Feb 9th. Just because the only records posted on-line are from his cell @ 18:21 (or so) doesn't mean he didn't attempt to reach her later that evening. Or that there was any reasonable need for concern at that time...

There is a group that will jump on your ass but not me for so called "windmilling". welcome to the conversation and please voice your opinion. JWB

Shack wrote: Just a couple of things that have been on my mind that are not really helpful in finding Maura. I never thought Maura drove North to end her life because she didn't say she would be gone for a week. The words were "several days" or "few days". She also was planning to arrange for tickets on her return, for an upcoming concert for her and friends. Every once in awhile it is Posted "why didn't she go to one of the 5 houses for help". I count W,M and A. If F is #4..who is #5..? I think that Maura could/would have called her Dad that night if she had had access to land line. I suspect her cell phone was useless and/or perhaps discarded (before 8 PM) Thank you Shack - 8 years plus and time to plow through the BS

A local connection that gets everyone all worked up. Mrs Champy implied and so did Nancy Smith in her interview (aka prominent family).

Lets all get real and cut through the crap and say how we feel? lets not let the real bullies that messed up this forum dictate the search for maura. The heck with walking on eggshells and tell it like you actually feel it, someone in Haverhill knows!! Sorry WTH I know you will bring shacks name up but she is right. Too bad Bill- someone knows the answer and needs to come forward.

And of course it would be covered up,it being a prominent family and all..Maura might know or go with a young attractive guy in a red truck,Right? It sounds like various people have hinted at Billwoods theory??Me included..Why does everyone tippy toe around it?

JWB My opinion so far based on my readings is she took her own life. She went on an unnecessary trip and didn't tell anyone where she is going in an unsafe car when her dad was to buy her a new car the following weekend. Driving a broken car and probable drinking while driving is a sign of disregard for her life, maybe from depression of crashing her dads car and letting him down along with the credit card fraud and risk of having to leave another school. Her dad also said the squaw walk comment according to LE. She didn't have a thought out plan. Directions printed for several hiking locations but no known reservation or friend to stay with and little money. Maybe she wanted to stay one night somewhere and have some drinks then take a final hike the next day. She left no note but she left the book marked with her little brother's photo. I think the crashed ruined her plan or just sped up the plan. If she ran and took the alcohol then I think she intended to disappear. I'm not a psychologist but my thought is families lacking answers will sometimes rather believe their family member is murdered than think she would cause them this pain. Even though suicidal people are driven only by desire to end their own pain, sometimes from a temporary hopelessness they feel. It doesn't feel that way to those left behind and denial is a powerful self-protection mechanism. No disrespect but just my thoughts on it. Like another commenter said I too am open to change my theory but that is my opinion after watching the show and reading the news articles and blogs. Can someone explain what is the billwood theory.

Thank you for your well laid out theory and I respect it. Makes sense and it is of course one of several plausible options.I can see that the WB acc could be the final thing that tipped her over but if that is the case then she should be close to the crash site to drink her ass off but there is no facts that show that to be the case. In fact the NHSP have suspects that they are looking at? I guess we will find out when she is found and it will be sad for all if she is not alive.
