One other possibility is she ran for a while but then 'got sober'. When that happened she wouldn't be afraid to talk to police anymore. She then knocked on a door at a house/camp but that was the wrong house to go to and they then abducted her.
I noticed that John Healy noted on Renners blog that "he has a good idea who did it everything seems to point to one direction". I am very interested in who he was referring to.

But I never heard that this person saw Maura, so maybe this is not what you are talking about. Are you talking about someone who drove by the accident scene after Maura crashed and saw her car? Or someone who saw her running down the street?
