All of these young people missing....some found dead in the woods. Young people flocking to Grafton County, unfortunately, not for enjoyment of Grafton's aesthetically pleasing qualities. Euphoric qualities, possibly? All roads lead to Grafton County. All of those meth labs shut down in NH...and 13 or 15 of those 18 labs were in Grafton County?! Wonder how many meth labs remain? Let's see.

I am still waiting for you to name all these dead people you say they keep finding in the woods. The ones listed as murder victims.

And I have never heard of meth users feeling euphoric. Have you ever seen a meth user? They are hyper alert, full of energy, and have supreme self confidence, while under the influence. They feel like shit after because the dopamine has been shut off. I have never heard euphoria as one of the effects.

So all meth users flock to Grafton county??? Seems odd no one would notice that. I suspect that they manufacture it there, and send it to areas that use it. We had at least one meth lab in my town several years ago. But no meth here. Here the primary drug was heroin. Cheaper than Oxy in my town. Still have the occasional OD, little more in the next town over. Have dealt with several in the surrounding town.

Even if the word were known by more people, it still isn't one that is used often..
yes, Quija isn't "average". you keep missing that point. and you don't have the biggest corner on general or specific knowledge. surprise, surprise.

Meth users have to be some of the SCARIEST looking people on the face of the earth. It has got to be one of the worst drugs out there! Thankfully, meth has yet to make its way to Bermuda.

Long term meth addiction is one of the most destructive drugs, both physically and mentally. And for some people the very serious mental damage is permanent as well as the physical damage. You can spot a long term meth user a considerable distance away, and that is usually where you want them to stay. They are usually very easy to spot when under the influence although they might also appear to be someone who is bipolar and in the manic state at first glance so you could confuse it for a psychological problem if you don't see the other indicators.

but, was the "boogie man" or FM's "dirt bag" the one that "did it"? i mean....the area is overloaded with meth labs, right? SB said so. is this where we're going? i think that was SB's theory. once. or JMLH. or someone. with no proof, of course.
maybe the heroin addicts from MA crossed state lines. maybe.

Very sad indeed, also I think the sleep deprivation contributes to this manic behavior as many don't sleep for days on end. The thought of not sleeping for days makes my head spin, as I feel crappy after just one night of bad sleep!

Hi Snowy. There were several found meth labs listed in the federal uniform reporting document as I remember. But finding three in one area doesn't mean that there aren't thirty others in another area that you haven't found, or another area doesn't have 60 mobile labs you don't know about, so it is meaningless to use the statistics in the manner they are attempting to use it. Also, finding a meth lab in a certain area has no correlation where the meth is actually sold. Certainly this information will fall on deaf ears as far as certain people are concerned.

Actually the manic behavior is the direct effects of the drug. That is why they call it speeding. They can't sit still, they twitch, they have tremors large and small. Even when they try they can't sit still. Even without examining closely (i.e. a physical) they stick out. As an EMT approaching them, I usually know well before I physically touch them what I am likely dealing with (and to be on my guard). I'll be the first to admit out of all the patients I deal with, I like dealing with psychiatric patients and druggies the least. Very unpredictable people and everything can go sideways in a second. They love you, they are your best friend and then bam, they are off the deep end trying to beat on you. I have been with more than one heroin addict who we needed to restrain because they were all pissed off that we "screwed up their high". They were not breathing well enough to sustain their life but we screwed up their high. They can get very violent if you "screw up their high" and bring them back from the edge of death.

As I see it, unless MM was driving to NH or Vt to buy drugs, none of this would pertain to her. There are drugs everywhere......she basically signed off on school to get some kind of a head start. But sure as sh#t, some of her friends were already looking for her after some class on Monday or Tuesday night. A friend on discovery says she had no idea what was going through Maura's mind. Kathleen says Maura had to go think, but then again, another friend of hers, LD said the same thing.
Now that I think about it, Liz began to cry when she related how sad it was that there were no more group pictures with her frind in them. That Maura was truely missed. If someone knows back on campus, and have been sworn to secrecy, they better not forget that the majority of the police and PI work is taking place in NH. Maybe they should send in their anonymous tips to the NHSP. Thinks like a possible new love interest who is now missing too......but I've also known Maura to really keep to herself.

i recall meth labs being another generalized "theory"....along with gossip about the a-frame and the "wood chipper" i feel a rewind coming up again, without the validity of evidence.
the information and context you provide is useful, of course. thank you.

Hey, someone really wanted to place Maura in NH that night. What that poster used to say was that Maura:
could be getting an abortion
could be living in the gay comunity after the fuss of that night
could be she was taken underground due to her chemical engeneering skills
was mistaken for the McDonalds town snitch who drove a same dark model/year Saturn....that person was at work however, but the poster still therorized this, even so.
I was just reading what weeper wrote on a forum and that made me remeber all this other persons ideas.
He thinks Maura was probably there alright, but 1-3 miles away from her car.

Weeper, you still around? Am I right to think that the female who slid off the road was Maura, and that she left in a private vehicle, not her own? And someone who heard this on scanner took off with her car to maybe dump it in the same kind of way other cars have been dumped there. Like down Sinclair rd or in the white mountains?

Just a sidenote to accepting a ride from someone in uniform. It would be just as bad for her really, to jump in his car feeling mooded, maybe smelling like the wine that spashed around the drivers side, roof and door, maybe even some/alot on her clothes. What would she accomplish by avoiding police and then giving in to the idea of getting a ride from another authority figure? Somebody took her booze, she was at her car 1-2 minutes before police came.

So I can agree with the idea that someone else drove that car to ditch it, be seen by it, have it documented as most likely MM, and then jump back into whatever car.

Do you think she was loured there, or blackmailed?
Oh yeah and this other poster said she was buying or settling the score for her brother and it was a matter of life or death.
All this from someone who worked on the case

A while back (couple years) an investigator who identified himself from western MA came to my house to talk about the meth labs in NH..I knew nothing about it although he went into lengthy descriptions of the 'busts' he had made elsewhere. I felt annoyed and defensive of the area. He was vague and was trying to make a point that the meth labs were all cleaned up. I knew nothing concerning it and had to research it after. Sometimes it may seem that a theory is gossip when actually there may be a basis to it. The long and short of it, this person had impressive credentials.

Bill,
I'd read that NH shut down 18 meth labs...and that either 13 or 15 of the 18 were found in Grafton County. So someone, somewhere it would seem was involved in the meth business. One does not have a meth lab as a hobby. With the economy as it is and many out of work, it seems reasonable that meth was/is being sold.....people make $$$$$ in this business. So...the State of NH had 18 meth labs that were closed......13 or 15 of them were in Grafton County. These labs didn't just spring up from the loving hands of mother nature. Human beings were involved. There is a high correlation between meth use and violence. These were not flower (plant) nurseries that were shut down. These were meth labs. Go back to the old demand-supply perspective. There evidentally HAD to be customers to warrant 18 labs.

Snowy,
I believe you had mentioned you believe that whatever happened to Maura had started back at Amherst. Would you please share why you hold this belief? Also, WTF, I believe you questioned or were wondering why Maura would have inquired about a condo (that it did not make sense?).... Would you please elaborate a bit as to why? Thanks.

One of my x employees was doing meth and making meth. I had no idea, thought she was just a skinny wirey sort of jitter bug. She was one of my best workers, always selling, cleaning and accurate on my inventories. Never late, never missed a day.....we asked her to explain her social security number in 2009, and she never came back. Moved to ND. Her and her husband had a cart full of bleach and batteries when I ran into them in the grocery store. Nothing clicked even though the renters on the far end here were also cooking the stuff in their tub. Nobody the wiser, the sold many pinball machines.
What I don't get is why would the detective come to your house to talk about meth? All 4 parts of my store and rental area are on closed cicuit TV. Police just take the tapes, no discussion

Bill,
You need to Google New Hamphire meth.......... Really. Meth is a problem in a lot of areas across the U.S....and yes, meth does cause an intense rush of pleasure and "prolonged" sense of euphoria.... Why? Meth use causes a release of Dopamine which is a neurotransmitter. The problem is that over time, meth destroys dopamine receptors which lessens user's ability to experience pleasure as initial use had allowed. Meth had been on the decline but around 2005/2006 it's use increased. With today's economic crisis and many out of work, it's understandable why many have decided to go into the business....($$$$$ Check out: www.justice.gov/ndic/pubs4/4300/meth .
