LOL........"vibrations of love"?....be careful about voicing that idea as some may start a petition to actually use it. Really. Seriously. With February (Valentine's Day) just around the corner your idea may come up for serious consideration. High profile people carrying a few "vibrations of love" to fling at someone armed with an assault weapon? Wonder how drivers of armoured vehicles transporting large shipments of money would like the "vibrations of love" idea?

In this case, it wasn´t some random guy reporting they saw someone looking like Maura, it was LE saying they had evidence, not just a sighting, of her being some place away from the accident scene at some undisclosed time after it happened. Key words LE and evidence.

as a latecomer to the story of maura's disappearance, i realize i'm asking many similar questions that have been asked by others here and elsewhere, like web sleuths, during the past eight years. so i'm making a point of going back to the previous threads and discussions forums and reading through them 'from the beginning', so to speak. to the longtimers, it may seem like rehashing old news, but to the newcomers like me, the discussions are fresh, not stale.

in that context, as I began reading through the first ws thread that began in february 05, i had a lightning flash of a thought about maura's departure from umass. it's been noted by friends and family and those close to maura that, while being a warm and friendly and trusting person with those around her, she was also somewhat of an introvert and to some degree private with regard to her inner life, thoughts and feelings.

the condition in which her dorm room was left – her belongings neatly packed – has been the subject of some debate as to whether they were still packed from the winter break that had just concluded a couple weeks prior or if she had packed her things in the days immediately leading up to her disappearance.

what follows, then, is the thought that exploded into my mind as i was reading about the late night dorm party from which maura wanted to leave to take the car back to her dad.

what if, prior to the beginning of that semester at umass, maura had already decided, or had already been very seriously contemplating, running away from her life and her stresses, troubles, etc. what if, being something of an introvert, she had been thinking about it for quite a while but to the all those around her, she simply kept up the appearance that everything was normal and fine, not letting those around her know the truth? and what if, when she was at the dorm party that night and talking to her friends about wanting to go to see her dad and return the car, she was actually mentally decided and prepared to leave THAT night. not the next day (sunday) or the day after (monday – when she actually left), but the night after drinking with her dad?

what if maura was trying to get her dad to drink as much as possible, talking him into going back to the pub with them after picking up her friend, so that when she got him back to the hotel, he would just pass out and be out for a good, long time sleeping off the alcohol? and what if, when she told her friends that she wanted to go see her dad at 2:30 in the morning to take back his car – and they were trying to talk her out of it – she was actually planning to take his new reliable car and leave for good?

what if she carefully disguised how much she was actually drinking so she wouldn't be as intoxicated for her departure? and what if on her way out, bad luck hit and she crashed his car such that it needed a tow and was no longer drivable? thus, to the officer at this first accident, she doesn't appear drunk enough to administer a sobriety test and the accident is chalked up to road conditions.

in continuing this line of thought, if she had been intending to leave that saturday night but her initial plans were thwarted, then maybe that is why she was upset on sunday, not just as a result of the accident, but also due to the failure of her initial attempt to leave. so, perhaps in the two weeks back from winter break, she had never fully unpacked her belongings, had decided to leave, was trying to leave with her dad's new car and then, with no other vehicle option but her unreliable saturn, maybe she was now so committed to her plan that once sunday's events transpired (towing the car back to her dad's motel, helping him get a rental car) and her dad was on his way home, she continued moving ahead with her plans to leave, now having to rely on her saturn instead of her dad's new toyota or a new (to her) car that was shopped for though not purchased that weekend.

thank you. i've read his entire blog and don't recall reading this, but i'll go back and look through it all again. i'd like to read it again if i just overlooked it the first time.

That is many miles away from the bars in downtown Franconia. I mean way away approx 12 miles to main st franconia from where CW poss saw Maura.

There are 2 bed and B along 116 going towards Franconia. Franconia INN I believe has a lounge but that is still prob 8 miles down 116.

Thats the road i was thinking,Route 116..Wasnt she possibly seen at that intersection?Could the "last known location&evidence" LE speaks of be that involving that B&B?Isnt that the same location Mckay signs off from?

IF the CW sighting was Maura. CW most likely would have have come 116 to 112 as he was said to have worked in Franconia during that time. CW sighting was only given an approx of 4-5 miles from the crash site. It is approx 7 mile from the crash site to the intersection. I don't recall CW saying it was at the intersection.

Poster Mathew duct tape was said to have been found 7.8 miles from the crash site (I believe).

Findmaura, I am not familiar with information regarding the whereabouts of Mckay when he signed off.

If Maura was trying to get to Bethlehem (family) or Bartlett ( condo) from the crash site then the route to take would have been rt 112 to Rt 116

Hannah, I am going to go back and watch the video again. My initial feeling was the LE had further evidence from another location ( her last whereabouts) LE really had to show the judge compelling evidence in the closed session ( not just gut instincts) that they could not release information to the public for reasons XYZ.

As far as how and where they got the evidence ( who knows) my guess might be from interviews and poly testing. I find the Grand Jury subpoenas interesting as well as the mentioning of the Sullivan County Correction in the scope of the investigation.
