I will be brief here although I wanted to add something on this sad anniversary. I had a brief encounter with Cecil Smith and asked him what he thought happened to Maura Murray? His answer,"she ran away". Are you sure, and he laughed, and said, "yes, she ran away". This was fall 2011.

I hope it's true, if only because it would mean maybe she is still out there somewhere living a good life. I can only imagine the pain of her family not knowing.

Hard to believe it's been 9 years today, and still no answers. Although IMO the weather could not be more perfect to show what the conditions maura would've been facing on that cold night 99 years ago. Where I'm at in CT it snowed 2-3', someplaces even moe. I think most of new engladn got hit with over 2'. Anyone in new endlgand if you're thinking she might've ran into the woods maybe you should do an experiment. Put on some sneakers and a pair of jeans, don't matter if they're tight or loose, ad go into your yard and try to walk a few feet. THEN come talk to me about 'running into the woods real quick to hide' Over 2' of snow is EXTREMELY difficult to walk anywhere. This theory that she ran into the woods is completely ludacris IMO. There is no such thing as 'running into the woods real quick to think' with that much snow, there isn't running into the woods real quick to do anything in conditions like that. You aren't making it anywhere far without snow shoes, it's just NOT happening. Anyone who really thinks that she actually walked into the woods just has no idea what it's like to walk through feet of snow, ither that or they're lying. There's no third option, if someone says that she could've made it far into those woods they either have NO CLUE what they're talking about, ot they're lying. Even with snowboots, snowpants and full winter gear it's next to impossible to make it anywhere far if you don't have snow shoes, which she did not have. Seriously people, go out and try it for yourself.. There is no such thing as running real quick into the woods when there's 2.5' of snow on the ground, it just doesn't exist. It's EXTREMElY slow, extremely difficult and if you're wearing sneakers and jeans it's EXTREMELY PAINFUL. Today when I was shovelling out even my snowpants got packed with snow and my sorrell snowboots got snow in them. After walking though similar conditions that she would've faced, again, it just confirms to me that the lost in the woods theory is next to impossible. It is pretty much impossible that she could've made it deep into the woods, that just was not happening. In addition to that she would've left a GIANT trail, one that could've EASILY been spotted and followed by LE; there was no trail leading into the woods. She is NOT in those woods, no way, no how
