Doesn't quite live up to the hype, Detective Columbo. And is virtually useless information to boot. Confirms she was a troubled mess, but we knew that already.

That MM was a bulimic. Like a thousand other young college athletes. Out of the blue I received one of the nastiest , craziest emails from JG that left me astonished since I have no idea why. I had posted very brief always polite opinions on his blog but The only thing I can think of is that he didntlike the fact that I am a woman who might not agree with him ALL the time. I had NO idea that this man was this mentally disturbed and
that he is so mentally deranged aside from being a complete coward and a complete narcissist. With a sick ego the size of the Eiffel tower . What a utterly despicable human being. Someone here posted a warning about this character . I should have listened. He now has my personal email and information.... Any ideas ?

Yes, I suppose I'm clueless. And I guess that was why I asked the question in the first place. Instead of judging it as clueless, someone could just answer it.

Many sufferers of bulimia use food as a means of control, and when peeling back the layers, one can often find issues of control lying at the root of bulimia. The sufferer may struggle to "take control of their lives", or maybe there is a strong figure of control in their lives (sometimes their mother). Food is about the only thing that the bulimic can control, and it becomes her escape - the "one thing that she has for herself". However each vomiting or purging episode is often followed by shame, and maybe a deep sense of disgust. The sense of shame can then lead to wanting to gain back control... and since the only thing the bulimic can control is food - thus begins the cycle of addiction.

Every person is unique, and any description will be a gross generalization. There are other factors that can sometimes be found in the history of a bulimic sufferer - sometimes there may have been incidences of sexual abuse during childhood, and often, the child was overweight and experienced some of the jeers and teasing that went along with this. The child may have also been "dieting" from a young age.

Due to the shame involved, the bulimic can often be extremely secretive, making it difficult to truly know what is going on.

Longisland I really don't know what to tell you as he already has your information. If it was me I would just not go there again or have any type of conversation that could be used against me.
I think everyone should go take a look at his blog especially the parts about the DA and exposing liars and putting said jackass on public display. I admit I was totally astonished at what I was reading. Beware!!
I know I'll never go there again.

Restraining order? It seems like everyone on here dislikes JG and knows what type of character he is. Maybe, that is enough to get him to stop, eventually. It isn't cool that he got your personal email and information. That is very creepy. He seems like a vindictive person.
Yes thank you for the advise. The attack really came out of the blue... And the only thing I can think of is that he might be in the early stages of suffering from squizophrenic paranoia. And I dont say that in a frivolous way. He writes a threatening hostile letter for no other reason except that I ask a simple question.. That is not normal behavior...

It creeps me out that JG is so eager to have everybody's email address--even on this new "chat" thing he's so thrilled with himself about. Ugh.

Yes thank you for the advise. There is no doubt that there is something very wrong with him. I guess in a way I am kind of naive .. I live in the South of France most of the time and I think that at times I dont understand american culture that well...I am just very sorry that I hot myself into this and that he has so much information about me when he asked... A lesson to learn ..

Not only that but he asked a lot of personal information and like a complete fool I provided it. The blog thing he calls a community is only him talking to himself. I am almost sure that one of those posters in there is him also. From the beginning I noticed that entire threads would disappear and that posts came from only a very small group of people because it seemed those few individuals were the only ones he allowed... what a strange and distateful experience...

No. Like you I never posted anything terrible to James Renner's blog (I'm not associated with JG's blog at all and am glad I woke up in time to stay away) and have never figured out what set him off against me. No clue. He seems easily threatened by people who express different views to his in a reasoned and logical way. And am I the only one who's noticed that every time he starts a new subject he reprints his entire CV? WTF?

I love me, I love me, I love me, I love me--usually points to immature and insecure, I think.

David Blake, the author of "B.O.L.O.", makes it clear that he believes Maura was bulimic. I wonder whether Blake is Renner's source for this information. I don't want to say too much about the book, so as not to spoil it for people who may want to read it. I found it very interesting--flawed, but interesting. I didn't see any gobsmacking new theories, but he has an inventive mind, and the book set me thinking more about certain lines of possibility. And he really brought Maura alive for me, and very sympathetically. He badly needs an editor and a proofreader; the number of sloppy mistakes were very distracting (and inexcusable, really; he's supposedly an educated man) and made it hard for me to concentrate on content. I'm reading it a second time now, for that very reason, to try to focus on his ideas, the "story," without tripping constantly over the awful number of elementary school-level errors of spelling, punctuation, grammar and organization.

I count it worth a read, though I'm sure some others will disagree and find it less so. I think it just contributes a respectful and serious attempt to help discover what happened and thus adds to the body of work around the case, albeit "civilian" rather than professional LE.

Feel free to pm me what you thought may spoil the book for other readers. I'd like to hear what His Inventive mind thinks.
