Judged: 2 2 2 there goes that Team Maura retaliation machine again. why not argue point by point with Renner, rather than take cheap shots at his relatives? back up your position with substance and facts. squeezing, swinging and hitting is for kids and playgrounds. |
Judged: 4 3 2 I don't know of any relatives up there. It would be great if that were true. Then I wouldn't have to pay to stay at Nootka. As to my grandfather, who indeed was a serial rapist (read more on jamesrenner.com ), he will be in the book. But I highly doubt he had anything to do with crimes in NH. He's too much of a coward to leave his compound of a home. |

Judged: 2 2 1 Det Columbo - What do you do that is any different? You post BS about every garbage theory you can. You never ever govern your posts on facts or simple logic, but yet you attack Renner. The same laws that allow you to post your BS protect him. Unless you are willing to state on record that your intelligence doesn't allow you to be bound by the same laws please step aside and let the man post, or operate his blog. I'm not stating Renner is right but having to sit through all your BS posts ( and lord knows how many other names you created) I believe that we have earned the right to read Renner's. Just my opinion. |

Judged: 1 1 Part 1 of 2 "So, this is pretty cool. There is a company called Topix that started off in the late 1990s (I think) offering a service to online newspapers: we will host and facilitate discussion forums about articles on your site. That original model did not work and over the years Topix has evolved, including the acquisition by Gannett of some of the company. Today their model generates revenues by allowing interested folks to start a forum on any topic and selling ad space. There are a hell of a lot of active Topix discussion forums out there today. A couple of days ago, I managed to get the CEO of Topix - a very entrepreneurial, intelligent and humorous self-effacing guy named Chris Tolles - on the telephone. I wanted to talk to him about whether and under what circumstances Topix will contest subpoenas in an action between one user and another, say for libel. I had figured I might be able to finagle talking to one of his executive assistants and maybe get authorization to talk to their counsel about the topic. But Chris Tolles is a pretty cool guy: when he learned about my call, he called me back personally and gave me an hour of his time. The answer - by the way - is, "never." It is a part of their legal cost management strategy. They provide legal and regulatory based minimal moderation because by not doing more they avoid taking on liability if one user goes nuts libeling another. Correspondingly, if someone can make out the affidavit before a judge required to get a subpoena sent to them, they simply provide the information and avoid the legal cost of defending privacy on behalf of their users. In essence, they created a laissez-faire environment for online discussion of news and current events that leaves it to users to settle their own scores in courts of law, neither protecting their users nor managing their commentary. I called Topix because - per some work and writing I am doing - I needed to know to know more about how such a situation would play out. This because there is a particular Topix group that talks about me pretty much every day in NOT flattering terms. It almost makes you feel like a celebrity to have even a little group of little people taking the time to blast you repeatedly for three months. I have no desire to sue, but one has threatened both to sue me and do me physical harm if I publicly come forward with this particular analysis.(This is an odd strategy at dissuasion, by the way, with each prong of the approach probably promoting the failure of the other). So that got me thinking about initiating a suit against this person - or maybe the entire small group of people involved - for liable and harassment ... or however the wrong needs to be characterized legally.(I utterly excel, thank you, at teasing colorable causes of action out of statutes). With defendants as yet unknown, the only part with standing to oppose the subpoena - required as it is for me to even serve process on these folks - is Topix. And they wont. Thus, in order to allow me to serve process, I will find out who these jackasses are, which will loop around to helping me better source the original piece referenced above that I am writing now, further protecting me from their potential legal attacks. The really cool thing that came from this conversation is that Chris Tolles has offered to help me out. He wants to try to get me on some crime in the internet age discussion panel at some conference, because my article deals with the technology enabled hypocrisy around the case that is causing this massive backfire of the putative benefits to missing people of being a young white woman. In fact, that missing white woman syndrome is working terribly against Maura in my view ... " |

Judged: 1 1 "... Chris also offered to help with some other things if I go past this article and try to write a book of my own about the case, but I am not sure I have enough original material and first hand involvement for that. Anyway, as a group randomly selected from, I am not that likely to like a CEO. But this guy was pretty cool if only for taking the time to call me himself." |
