Your post reveals more about you than anyone else here. I think you’ll find this forum attracts a large cross-section of people from the US and further afield. Perhaps you should spend a little more time reading back over its colourful history and a little less time trying to flog your friend’s book. Incidentally, I strongly suspect that same friend used this forum, and the huge wealth of information available here, as part of his research and owes a great deal to the posters you are so quick to dismiss.

I am not convinced JG really believes anyone here is involved in Maura’s disappearance. As much as he loves to mock and dismiss us all, I think he is smart enough to realise that certain people (we all know who they are) could be of real use to him and it irritates him enormously that they haven’t fallen for his unique brand of charming BS.

I also think he’d like to find out the identity of a few others here, those who regularly call him out for his errors and preposterous theories, because it would give him leverage. Finding out someone’s identity in this situation would give him a certain amount of power (real or imagined) and there’s a threat implicated in that knowledge – I know who you are and where you live. I am not suggesting for a second that JG would act on that knowledge but it may give the poster pause for thought. Just look at Citigirl. A few carefully chosen words by JG and she was concerned enough to stop posting...

Like Snowy says, it's a fascinating study in psychology. You can go to any site on the net dealing with maura Murray and read negative comments about this topix forum. The select group of posters with an agenda they say. They squash any discourse about the case they say, yet,anyone who has studied this forum realizes that more answesr have come from here than anywhere else! Many are the self declared experts who have gotten all of their info here, only to decry thye very people who have provided the info!
I'm from NH. and I take exception to anyone insulting the people from here as a whole. Us natives have a vested interest in this case beyond just the intrigue. There are others here who may not live in NH., but have properties here or some other attachment to this state that just can't stand the ridiculous bashing from people who don't know a damned thing about us.There is a tradition of practicality here in NH. that some just don't get The agenda is not hidden. It's proudly displayed for all to see. Don't state innuendo and you're own little fiction as facts. Back it up or shut up!
JG has been up and running for some time now..page upon page of exciting new info over there. I think they have finally figured out a protocal for catagorizing information and Sammy may have finally figured out Freds parking patterns. Bravo... ; )

Please note that I did not say I think he believes anyone here is involved, but I do believe he would post that they were. If he truly has any evidence of such a thing, then the ONLY place for that information is in the hands of LE. That would be the responsible and legitimate use of that information, and anyone who's true intention was to solve the mystery of MM would know that and carry it out. A posting on it here would only be an attempt to intimidate and cause problems unnecessarily for those named.

i've lived away from my home state for many years, but am loyal to my adopted home. not only is it insulting to mischaracterize and stereotype people and places, it's worse to accuse them of criminal intent.
i came to this Topix thread to specifically rail against this kind of behavior, regardless of whether it is your home or mine. and, mind you, it was MM's family representatives that formulated and carried these ideas to this discussion and other forums.
yes, privacy and practicality in NH are cherished and practiced as a way of life. no doubt, with good reason!

Sorry, Bill, I wasn’t trying to imply you thought anyone from Topix was involved in Maura’s disappearance. As I said earlier, I believe JG has ulterior motives for wanting to uncover people’s identities and is using this theory that a poster might be involved to get assistance from his ‘community.’ Having read my post back I can see it wasn’t clear. Apologies again. Oh and I totally agree that any meaningful information uncovered should be handed to LE. Posting it online could jeopardise the investigation.

in a word - drama.
as i've said, MM's story is not particularly interesting, but creating drama gives it some substance. the most amazing thing is that latecomers can inflate the subject beyond its already extended shelf life.

I can see why people are drawn to Maura’s story. I was brought here by an episode of Disappeared. Far from being uninteresting I found Maura’s story compelling: Girl sets off for a trip without telling anyone where she is going - girl has an accident - girl disappears. It would make one hell of a start for a novel/play/movie. Yes, all the stuff surrounding her disappearance is what keeps the interest. I have Googled numerous cases after watching TV shows and this is the only one I still regularly check in with. You’re probably very astute in your conclusion that JG is trying to create drama. Clearly he wants to sell his article and to sell an article you need to create interest. It’s the same with Renner as he has decided to write a book based on a ‘crime’ that has already been written about extensively (if informally). If he has new information he has a ready audience, but if he is just regurgitating information what is he offering that cannot be garnered free elsewhere?
