Far from being uninteresting I found Maura’s story compelling: Girl sets off for a trip without telling anyone where she is going - girl has an accident - girl disappears. It would make one hell of a start for a novel/play/movie. Yes, all the stuff surrounding her disappearance is what keeps the interest. I have Googled numerous cases after watching TV shows and this is the only one I still regularly check in with. You’re probably very astute in your conclusion that JG is trying to create drama. Clearly he wants to sell his article and to sell an article you need to create interest. It’s the same with Renner as he has decided to write a book based on a ‘crime’ that has already been written about extensively (if informally). If he has new information he has a ready audience, but if he is just regurgitating information what is he offering that cannot be garnered free elsewhere? compelling at first, but only the imagination makes it interesting / dramatic. i've previously stated the mystery within, promoting the image as "All American Girl", contrasts with the cover-up of actual facts and information. JMO. Renner is different than JG, IMO; he has verified long-rumored information. still, there's not a lot of substance to write about without the drama of Topix / blogs / forums.

The "All American Girl" image insisted on by family has contributed big time to making this case a mystery, when in fact Maura fitted the profile of a missing young adult to a T: dysfunctional familly background, eating disorder, drinking problem, in trouble with the law and possibly more. I can only hope they were more forthcoming to LE, but from what we´ve learned so far, it doesn´t seem like it.

Everything seems to have ground to a halt. Not much activity on here or Renner's site and the great John Green's Maura Murray Community is down for the next few days being updated. Maybe Green's site is struggling to cope with the huge numbers that are visiting it. Funny that when Green is offline there is nothing else to talk about in here and the regulars here are so despondant they have given up posting in the meantime.

This case has not been written about "extensively" in a book format. Other than the recently published novel, there are no books written solely about Maura's case.
