Obviously nobody can say for sure what happened to Maura, you people completely mischaracterize what I say when you make it out like I say that she was definitely abducted or that I know she was abducted. Obviously with such a lack of evidence pointing to any particular theory nobody knows.
I believe if you look at the case as a whole objectively and HONESTLY it's pretty apparent she was abducted that night & was probably abducted by a stranger & that's why there is such a complete and utter lack of evidence in any direction, lack of even any indication of what might of happened to her, the preponderance of the evidence, or lack thereof in this case really is a strong argument for the stranger abduction theory.
When I look at the case objectively from the start I always come back to thinking that must be what happened to her.
If she killed herself then where the hell is she? What is the theory that she hid her own body? Where did she kill herself where nobody wouod find her for almost a decade? I just can't get my head around that, it makes no sense. How many times has a suicide victim not been found for a decade? Has that EVER happened?
I would say it's more likely that she got lost in the woods as at least that gives some sort of reason of why she hasn't been found in a decade but I still just don't see how anyone can honestly, rationally come to the conclusion that this is the most likely scenario, to me it seems so unbelievable that she would enter the woods under those conditions wearing what she was wearing & then also make it so far into the middle of nowhere that she was never to be seen again?? Not one trace of her ever found anywhere?? BillNH said it himself on one of his first posts last spring that he couldn't see her not being found in those woods with all those hunters. If you drive 112 during hunting season there's days where every turnoff is full of trucks parked for hunting. Those woods are very popular hunting grounds, and hunters don't stick to trails, they scour the woods. This doesn't mean she's definitely not in the woods, it just makes the chances exponentially smaller that she is.

The fact that there was 2.5' of fresh snow that was 'perfect for tracking' according to 2 separate nhsp lieutenants on 2 separate searches. This search had the distinct advantage of it being winter and there being fresh snow. If there's no tracks leading into the woods then she can't be in the woods. They flew the entire length of 112 up to n Woodstock in the helicopter looking for tracks leading into the woods and found none. They describe being able to see animal tracks & game trails clear as day but saw no human tracks leading into the woods. This also isn't definite but once again makes the chances of her being lost in the woods very low. When you combine this with the fact that the dog lost her scent 100yds up the road it makes a very strong argument that she got picked up by somebody.
And why the hell enter the woods anyways?? That would be the absolute worst place to hide, they could just follow your tracks through the 2.5' of snow.
Some seemingly nice guy stops and offers her a lift do you really think she's gonna say 'no let me go run into the woods in my sneakers through feet of snow so the cops can follow my trail?' or do you think she'd get in that warm truck and get the hell outta there? Who the hell would EVER choose the woods??? That's completely illogical and makes no sense.
But maybe the person didn't harm her and she actually ran away and is living a new life. That is what I hope happened to her but sadly that doesn't seem very likely. If she was leaving to start a new life WTH was she doing in NH? That's where she chose to go start a new life?? Come on, be for real here people. And if she was runnin away forever why make up the story to her professors? The only reason I could see doing that is so she can come back and have an EXCUSED absence. Tough programs like nursing death in the family & health problems are the only thing that give you excused absence. Her professors wouod NOT be looking for her, there was no need to lie to them unless she wanted that excused absence.

also find it very hard to believe that this girl who barely 2 months before got busted ordering pizzas directly to her own dorm w a stolen CC suddenly is so slick she's able to disappear forever, that makes no sense.
She had her problems but nothing too crazy, nothing more than a lot of girls her age who break down, drink a lot and do dumb shit like get caught stealing. I see a girl who had a super busy and probably stressful life, but she spoke to her family ALL the time, she had a lot of friends and was on dean's list, not generally the type of girl who runs away forever or kills themselves. I could see her wanting to get away for a few days to NH to relax and get her head right for the upcoming semester. That makes sense, it doesn't have to be some big conspiracy, some crazy thing. Kids from mass go to NH all the time, maybe she didn't tell her friends and family Bc they'd try to talk her out of it and stress her out even more.
Just look at the numbers, if a young woman her age goes missing for an extended period of time the vast likelihood is that she got abducted, sad but true fact of the world. Maura was by herself driving roads where many times in the past women traveling by themselves have been murdered. This has happened up there more than enough times that it must be considered a distinct possibility. Every one of those women killed also had a small window of opportunity where a killer just happened past right at the right time. Saying that it doesn't seem likely a killer happened past right then isn't a valid argument Bc EVERY woman killed by a stranger has that small window of time too, no one would ever get killed if that was valid.
I would love if someone could convince me she's lost in the woods. Nobody has EVER put forth a logical reasoning for why that's most likely or why no trace of her was ever found including footprints. Just because it is Possible she is in the woods is NOT a logical reason for why she is in the woods.
Please somebody convince me she wasn't abducted, I actually hate to think that she was but it's the only thing that makes sense after all these years.
