On November 11th, I responded to Renner's November 10th blog post regarding MV and the Geocities letter regarding Maura living in Toronto - apparently he either didn't read it (and we all know he reads here) or is choosing to ignore it because it doesn't fit in with his theory, despite his facts being wrong. Renner quote: "Taunton, as you know, is where the person who posted the Geocities letter (the one that explains that some family members know that Maura is living in Canada) was from." THIS IS INCORRECT. I explained it my earlier post: Maruchan wrote: <quoted text> ... But James is now getting his "facts" all mixed up. Taunton is NOT where "the person who posted the Geocities letter ... was from." The person in Taunton was not the letter writer, according to a prior post from James, but was the person who RESPONDED to the letter, the poster named Observer:... I then included this quote from Renner's 2/7/12 blog entry in which he describes how JL found that the RESPONSE to the Geocities post about Maura was from Taunton, NOT THE POST ITSELF: "A frequent commenter who called themselves 'Observer' responded to this post with: 'This is very interesting, it somehow has the ring of truth to it. This is common knowledge in certain circles of people who are close to the family.' The moderator wanted to know who 'Observer' was. So she contacted Leone. Using the IP tag that accompanied the 'Observer' messages, Leone traced the poster to a specific server in the area of Taunton, Mass. They figured if 'Observer' was posting in this Geocities forum, they were likely posting in other forums related to Maura's disappearance. A quick check of the Franconia, NH Topix forums found a long conversation about the mystery. Three people were posting on Topix from Taunton, Mass, too. But one commented much more than the other two. On Topix, this poster went by the handle 'Citigirl.'" The Geocities post and the RESPONSE to it are two separate things, and I have not seen anywhere that the original Geocities post was ever traced back to anybody. Advocate, you are the one who would know this. If I am wrong, and you did discern the location of the original Geocities post, then please let me know. Otherwise, REPEAT, Renner has his facts mixed up. The person who he believes has nursing experience by writing "MN" in the original Geocities post IS NOT THE PERSON WHO WAS POSTING FROM TAUNTON.

The Beauharnois thing has been around for at least 4 years. It originated from a 2009 Topix thread in the Amherst forum. You could blink and you'd miss it. Describing thefts from the Brown libraries in 2003, the post accurately states that some of the art and literary pieces were recovered in Magog and others in Saint-Etienne-de-Beauharnois.

Yes, it's this kind of thing that drives me nutts. Things need to be updated at least, and I check back to see that he's not doing that. One can only hope he is enormously busy. Otherwise, I don't have anything against him.

I sure hope Renner is basing his belief on more than some "witness" claiming to have spotted a Maura lookalike around Beauharnois. Given border control wasn´t as tight back then as it is now, I suppose she could indeed have slipped into Canada, especially if ridning as a passenger in someone elses vehicle. I have myself travelled across the US - Can border multiple times without having to show any kind of identification, but that was of course pre 9/11. As for her living in Quebec ever since 2004... well, that would depend on if she was able to get/create a false (presumably) US identity (maybe that of a deceased person) and then being able to get (legal) Canadian paperwork, driver´s license &c. If not, she would be living the life of an illegal immigrant, not being able to work, drive or get health care, and her children, if she has any, would not be able to attend school. I read Sam´s interview with David Whalen´s mother, and I figure he just might be the guy to be able to connect her to someone who could get her a (good) false identity to possibly be later exchanged for a true Canadian one. I would think everything depends on this. I think Maura was resourceful and determined enough and maybe to an extent deceitful enough (as in doing whatever it takes to achieve her goal, in this case creating a new life for herself) to get through to the "right" channels to achieve this - getting a new identity and a new life. Whalen being connected to the gambling scene makes me think he just might have the type of connections required to help. So ,in answer to your question: yes, provided she succeeded in establishing a new identity for herself. I don´t think she would be living in Canada or elsewhere under the name of Maura Murray.

Did Sam actually talk to Whalen's mommy, or did he drive by her house, seen her tending to Christmas decorations, and assumed what she was thinking, ala Fred Murray? Hmmmmm
