Wowzer the real one wrote: <quoted text> If I'm understanding this correctly he can find out your name and IP addy just by going to his blog. Hmm, reminds me of another past forum/blog that tried to find posters identities. A big reason why I try not to spend much time on the private forums/blogs. What a nice bunch of people we have here huh Maruchan. All in the name of Maura Murray. Sickening! John Green's old blog (the "[]other past forum/blog") did not collect viewers' IP addresses. He may have suggested otherwise. If so, he was "bending the truth." Our current blog does not collect viewers' IP addresses. Further, I added a page which lets people post anonymously. Some have decided to do so, in which case, we literally have no clue what the poster's IP address is.

OMG wrote: Good god Maruchan give it a rest. Save the false indignation for the octogenarian crowd, they are the only ones too old to grasp the fact that this is the 21st century and every website you visit collects the same information that Renner's apparently can. Even good old Facebook collects that shit up about 15 times a minute and it's some creepy guy in a basement somewhere getting paid minimum wage to keep an eye on it. Quit the whining about it. It is not making a difference to anyone under 80. I could stomach just about anything I have seen on topix but your whining about this is going to make me puke. Whoever has tied OMG to the chair and is twisting their arm to stay here please stop! They are going to puke and you know what kind of a mess we'll have then!

I find it interesting that you have never conducted a study to have your "posse" shoot a video of someone running away from the WB curve as a evade and escape excersise to show how easy it would be for someone to disappear into the woods. Why don't you try to reenact the crash so you can see how easy it will be to slip into the night. Maybe when you do this you might be able to go back and explain to people why it is so easy. I fear this isn't being looked into because it won't drive book sales.

Cookies[edit]Cookies are small pieces of data sent from a website and stored in a user's web browser while a user is browsing a website. When the user browses the same website in the future, the data stored in the cookie can be retrieved by the website to notify the website of the user's previous activity.[28] Cookies were designed to be a reliable mechanism for websites to remember the state of the website or activity the user had taken in the past. This can include clicking particular buttons, logging in, or a record of which pages were visited by the user even months or years ago. Although cookies cannot carry viruses, and cannot install malware on the host computer;[29] tracking cookies and especially third-party tracking cookies are commonly used as way to compile long-term records of individuals' browsing histories. In itself a major privacy concern that has prompted European and US law makers to take action,[30][31] cookies can be revealed to find out a blogger’s identity if not disabled. There's more good info here, more or less, and generally easier to understand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymous_bloggi...

Anonymous blogging platforms[edit]As anonymous blogging is on an upsurge, various anonymous blogging platforms have been introduced that offer identity protection of identities for the bloggers. External techniques deployed by these platforms include encryption to block the tracking of IP addresses. The servers are encrypted, which makes it impossible for the outside interferers to intrude into the privacy of bloggers. Internally, many accept temporary eMail addresses as registration points, meaning that the platform keeps users purely anonymous by putting the blogger in charge of what to reveal and what to hide. However, this does not restrict the readers of the blog to post comments on the blog posts. The two way communication between the anonymous blogger and the reader is constant and bloggers can even use their mobile devices to send posts without their IPs getting tracked. Early versions included Invisiblog (now ceased), and BlogACause that claimed to be “anonymous” on launch, but has since proven not to be. Anonyme.com is one of the latest technology anonymous blogging platforms, that guarantees the privacy and safety of bloggers and their blog post through a safe environment of blogging. BlogMask allows bloggers to post freely without creating an account or leaving any identifying information. Network23.org supports anonymous blogging through its implementation of Wordpress. IP addresses are not tracked but an email address is required for a blog.[51] As new ways of staying anonymous are being introduced such anonymous blogging platforms offer a convenient way to communicate specially for new bloggers. Those who are not technology savvy can leverage significantly through these platforms because there are no technical details involved. Users simply create their anonymous account and start blogging. These platforms provide identity security on its own, without letting the user worry about how to apply different measures of protection.

Heartbroken wrote: I just finished watching the reairing of the Dissappeared show on Maura it is so sad I'm with you, it is sad no matter what happened. She should know that "hearts are broken." "We just want her to know she's the best" "I'm not sure what's the matter but Whatever this is, come home and we'll bang away at it like we always do" " What have we done to make you turn away? "I think she just wanted to get out of work early....." "She always called me, she would never go away like this." There's more, and I only bring these up because it confuses me. At first it was like a plea to come home. That rusty knife-citi said it was stated it may have been used in a crime, not that it was a solid lead about the brother. Lots of time spent up there. Maybe there is someone they know living or returning to one of the area houses......or somewhere nearby. "Fred acknowledges that Maura was leaving school for reasons that are still unclear" Well, come on now. I say keep looking for this person even though there's a small chance she's out there somewhere and ok after all.

mcsmom wrote: Can someone find the posts on Topix from the NH father who claimed his sons knew what happened to Maura? I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about, but a poster named Bill05478 started posting on 1/6/11 about his son being married to the ex-niece of a person that everybody in the area "knew" was responsible for MM's disappearance (discussed a lot here - relatives in State employment etc.). His first post is on my page 98, post #2039. He talks a lot about his sons having knowledge about this person. Bill 05478 wrote: <quoted text> Let me just put it this way my son is married to his ex-niece, and she too believes he could be involved somehow, someway. Now I just need to open pandora's box, which is easier said than done.

The value of the contribution does not depend on its rightness or wrongness, but instead the sincerity in offering it and in considering others' points of view in relation to it.
Reflecting on how my own brain processes and deliberates on an age guess, I seem to start with the neighborhood - early thirties, mid thirties, late thirties - then settle on a number, which in that context is like settling on one of three or four values. Moreover, if someone were planting this as a false ID, and if so prone to exaggerated detail in creating a false lead, they would say something like, "she look 30 years and 7 months old to me."
