Wherever that comes from, it's wholly wrong. However, when people become impassioned about things on forums, some become insensitive. People happily type things they'd never say and some form opinions they'd be less likely to hold if they encountered things in real situations.
Do I believe there's a conspiracy afoot? I certainly don't believe there's a conspiracy involving Maura's family, the police or anyone else. Do I believe innocent people have been hounded? Absolutely. I've read whole communities being slandered on here.
However, at the heart of such abuse is the very behaviour I describe (IMHO) and I largely think it stems from one or two people who assume multiple online 'personalities' and fight with themselves online to drum up a battle of bile and hatred between others. All bullying and intimidation is wrong, end of. Accusing innocent people of murder is as bad as it gets.
I can't say more than that. Other than, if people offend you, just leave. The forum isn't real.
The only reality is a missing 21yr old girl but that's not your reality. You didn't know her.

Another strange thing is that someone comes from another country and jumps into a new forum (to them)and starts telling posters that have been here for years how they should act, going so far as to tell them they should set up a closed forum for themselves.
You have no idea of the history and until you take the time to read all the past posts you shouldn't condemn anyone.

Yes, the young lady was most likely Maura, but there is absolutely no way to know for sure.
Pretending otherwise is, frankly speaking, absolute nonsense.
