Wowzer the real one wrote: <quoted text> I love eggrolls but isn't shoving one in someones face assault. Made me think: how many egg-rolls does it take to stall a car? Ol' Frosty remembers when it was commonplace Hallowe'en shenanigans to put a potato in someone's tailpipe. What larks! Usually, in that case, the car sputtered, coughed and stalled before take-off.(If you were part of the plot you never stood behind the exhaust pipe while watching this all unfold in case the spud torpedoed you.) Not trying to be oblique... just saying... maybe not sabotage by tailpipe rag.

WTH-the-original wrote: <quoted text> Great questions. Let me help. THERE IS NOTHING NEW IN THIS CASE! That is why it hasn't been solved. It is a bore and I only stay to keep the unicorn riders from rewriting the entire case online. Now, here is the better question. Why is it after eight years, YOU think you and the other newcomers are so much smarter that all the people that have come before you. I mean after looking at the case for what, one month. You think that you will solve this case because what? All those that came before you were idiots? All the cops, all the detectives (the real ones), all the amateur sleuths here since the beginning were all morons? It's pretty arrogant of you and the others to think that you must be that much smarter than all those others who came before you. Seriously, with all the eyes that have looked at this case from the start, including the professionals. Do you really think that you are the one to break this case wide open? Are you that good? Do you have an established track record that would allow me to think that you are better than everyone else involved? I am supposed to take you and the others seriously??? Bill I have never professed or indicated I was smarter than anyone here.To suggest I am arrogant is such a slap in the face. You sir are way off base in your assumptions that I wish to break the case,I believe a discussion forum is a team effort.I came here thinking maybe i could contribute.Your grandiosity repulses me.Your defensiveness makes me believe you do NOT want the truth to be told.I am done here.JWB Carry on!

Why does Beagle pretend to be Detective Columbo and pretend to email himself? I've nothing against multiple monikers but the talking to yourself thing is...well...an interesting use of a person's time.

Getting back to Maura's ominous excuse for leaving, a death in the family. I have to wonder as I stated if this was crossing her mind. That may explain why she told no one she was leaving, embarrassment and fear of being committed. Also the trip north may have started out as a process to evaluate her life and problems and get away from all the static in her life to make a decision on her future or lack of. The whole being secretive about the trip and reason as well as the excuse she gave for leaving could be that simple, or much more complex. I doubt We'll never know for sure.

"fear of being committed" may be consistent with depression and issues surrounding the acting out behaviors associated with leaving WP (if those are positively true), along with relationship and family issues. as you say, no one can know with any certainty.

Beagle has thrown out more fantasies than anyone on this site and he has more Monikers than Glosta has Fishing Boats. Is it because he supports your cause? Snowy, interested in your response to renners last post and your answer to the question of what category topix of poster you feel you fall into.

Bill wrote, "What you call “other ways of thinking” I call guessing and fantasy. There are several established facts about this case and no more. There is a finite and very small number of things that could have happened in broad strokes." Bill, What I would call "other ways of thinking" would include not concluding that interviewees' reports as fact. Established "facts" may not have actually established in my opinion. Take as an example the call about the condo. Wonder if she was actually phoning about a condo. Authorities were told that she phoned about a condo, and I'm not saying that this was not the case....she most likely did say, verbalize that she was phoning about a condo, availability of a condo. It seems this was automatically accepted as factual....that the purpose of her call was to inquire about a condo.

Bill, To clarify my second sentence in previous note: There are times when an interviewee honestly believes something to be true....and therefore reports something as factual. This does not necessarily make the "fact" ....that bit of information he/she reported, true. The person is not telling a lie, but is only reporting what he/she heard and believes to be true. That phone call about the condo was established only to the extent that someone saw the phone statement indicating the call had been made to a certain number. There are other ways of thinking in regard to that call. The call was made if we go by the statement The person receiving the call reported truthfully what the caller said, and yet this may not have been the reason why the call was made.
