Maura Murray

she is missing; she has disappeared. to date, there is no evidence indicating an abduction or suicide. there is little more to argue at this time.

What evidence is there to indicate "that there wasn't an abduction or suicide"..? The coin is the same on either side in this case.

the answer to your question is self-explanatory.

The case of Maura's disappearance becomes streamlined and neatly packaged by choosing to believe she disappeared willingly in 2004. Not one of us truly knows that. It bothers me the question of Christopher Flynn decided to disappear in the same area and then the silence. Tom Conrad brutally murdered as he arrived home from work, same area, and silence. Christopher Gray was murdered in the same area and the culprits are in jail. Honestly, I don't know what to make of the incredible, possible violence in a small area. I know I would never travel alone over there.

It others me too. I wish people would pick a different area to disappear in but I guess it's the beauty,serenity and wilderness that draws people here when they don't want to be found.
If you are scared Anne then by all means bring a guard with you if you have to come this way. Seems kind of silly though.
This whole area including back roads are alive with people riding bikes in the summer. Women jog all year in this area and many love to just walk on the back roads. I haven't heard of any of them being attacked or disappearing have you? Maybe it's because they didn't want to disappear that they safely made it home.
Violence and crimes happen everywhere but I feel safer here then anywhere else.
Poor Anne. You're such a scaredycat. Must be hell for you when you have to shop at WalMart or a large grocery store and have to walk among the people.

So am I to assume that when you do a search and find nothing, you assume that you just didn't look hard enough, or was there nothing to find?

You cannot prove that evidence isn't there, can you? Personally, I believe that it was an abduction, by a UFO. My proof. Nothing, but apparently proof isn't needed so by your thinking I must be right. There is no proof that a UFO abducted Maura therefore I must be right?

Christopher Gray didn't see or feel the evil, his eyes were clouded with the beauty of the land and
pseudo comraderie. He was trusting.

Mr. Powell was trusting when he let Indelicato come into his home to "use the phone".

Tom C. was trusting, to come home into his yard of serenity and familiarity in his woods.

There are some nasty people hiding within the beautiful scenery. Different Topix threads have certainly shown some true colors of the angry scenery dwellers. Perhaps Maura trusted one of them that was nice to her, for those first few moments. Perhaps a friendly, "need a lift"? to..?

I agree those were horrible crimes that shocked the community. Chris Gray and Mr Powell's killers were caught and are behind bars where they belong and I truly hope that Tom's killer is also caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law.
As I said above crime happens everywhere. There isn't anyplace that I know of that is crime free.
Rt 112 is a direct route taken by out of staters to their condos and Loon Mountain Ski slopes. Did anyone ever think that just maybe Maura trusted someone that came from her home state and offered her a ride?
It's apparent she didn't want help from the person that stopped and offered her help and she didn't want help from any of the 5 houses that were in plain view. If she didn't go to one of the houses where there would be heat and a phone to use why would you think she would jump into a complete strangers car?
If she had only excepted the help that was offered or walked to any of those houses we wouldn't be here having this conversation.
Umm also the scenery dwellers are mostly a happy bunch. When they wake up in the morning and look at all the beautiful mountains they can't help but smile.

There's NO evidence of ANYTHING except she disappeared to the public's knowledge unless law enforcement knows something that's being kept sealed.

Heck, like WTF said UFO, Betty and Barney Hill claimed to be abducted not far away, about as much evidence for that theory as anything else.

Personally I feel that one witness needed to be further questioned as either a solid witness or suspect.
If he proved solid that would have at least given some direction.

Then Billy's phone call, sadly that was never forensically tested, though wouldn't change the outcome it may have brought new light into the investigation.

AS far as the other disappearances and Tom Conrad I don't see too many similarities. Someone had it in for Tom for some reason, that seems like a crime of anger. The other people like the guy who worked at Walmart, that was a crime of hate. The other disappearances can be added up to circumstance.

As previously stated by Wowzer, with all the people hiking, walking, jogging, if we had a serial killer there would likely be more missing, and why pick the exact same area, most serial killers tend to have a broad killing field, with the exception of killers of prostitutes.

There were assumptions made from the beginning of the accident that didn't add up in the long run. At this point I feel less and less hope this will be solved. Despite some of Maura's personal issues, it seems she could have been an asset to society, as I stated in the Bad Blood forum emotions are our strongest yet weakest attribute as humans, and despite whatever happened to Maura that was the catalyst for the whole event.

thanks to you and others for time spent over the years looking closely in places where she may have disappeared. it is evident that women freely and safely travel, exercise and spend time outdoors in your area, and in the vicinity of where Maura was presumed to have gone missing. it would be irrational to put one's life on hold due to the disappearance of a particular individual, if by way of an unfounded belief that she was abducted.

"Thinking" people should realize that your average person,(having no direct knowledge of the direction of the investigation) has no idea if there are suspects, evidence or witnesses of anything one way or another.

I'll keep hoping that the people who can actually solve this mystery will do so and bring an end to this pointless speculation.

mcsmom, It is true that forums keep Mauras disappearance from being buried in the heap of the missing. My personal interest stems from an undefined scanner call and my love of this area. Since Maura went missing, I have taken a new look at a lot of things, including the subject of the missing. I am cautiously proactive when I move about the area now. I stay aware in a way I never did before Maura disappeared. This is beautiful country and communities are tight knit and hesitant about letting too many outsiders in. It can exacerbate the simplist of criminal activity because locals will not talk to outsiders.
