I am not vouching for him. I only vouch for people who I have known for years, personally, in real life. Even then, I prefer that people come to their own conclusions and judgments about others. If people want to know who he is, they can find that out for themselves and check it out. That is what any logical person should do about anyone, in my opinion. He did not ask me to vouch for him or anything like that. I never would have posted anything about him at all, except that FrmLE stated that he knew for a fact that Columbo was a liar and a fraud and that new people should not believe him. I was upset, thinking maybe it was true. If I had a way to contact FrmLE privately at that time to ask him, I would have done so. If I had a way to contact him privately now, I would still do so. Just to maybe clear this up. But I'm not going to hash this out in a public forum with a bunch of anonymous posters any longer. With all due respect to everyone here, I am finished with this conversation about Columbo.

It shouldn't have been that hard nor was it an invasion of privacy just to say that yes he did indeed have a NH PI license. But you couldn't say it. Even though you beat around the bush I give you credit for not lying. I do respect someone that doesn't lie.

You came here and said you knew for a fact that Columbo is a liar, that he is a fraud, and that new posters should not believe a word he says. That made me think, "Hey, I've told this guy some private stuff. Maybe I should check him out a little better." I'm sorry I became involved in this discussion. I was only trying to find out the truth. That is all. this was a warning to have heeded, imo, not to jump into deeper water.

That facebook account is liked with various Murray family members. He is quoted in several media articles from 2004 as being a private investigator working on the case. He invited me to contact the Murray family and ask them. I did not mean officially verified, only that I looked him up and found enough to make me believe he is who he says he is. Bad wording. My fault. Everything he provided to me could be a lie. I don't know but would like to find out. That is why I intend to call the NHSP division of licenses and permits. seems like he has pursued you in an attempt to verify his standing as a PI and his connection to the Murray family. i can't imagine why. my pointing this out is not by way of criticizing you, amy. i just don't understand DC's apparent push to legitimize credentials by way of a new poster. i don't have more to add about this, so i'll drop it, as well.

U know, looking up the tailpipe kind of makes sense if the responding officer actually thought there might have been signs of a struggle. He comes across the car and sees signs that something is amiss so this causes him to investigate a little further. Also, according to lavoie, it looked like the accident happened bc the driver had lost power in the vehicle and was trying to regain control(hence clipping the left snowbank instead of the right) Smith obviously had some sort of good reason to look up the tailpipe bc he clearly did that almost instantly because minutes later he was asking the westmans about Maura and saying there was a rag in the tailpipe. His superiors probably told him to lie about whether he thought there was signs of a struggle. Remember if they said that from the beginning then this would've been an abducted girl. Then LE would actually have to find the perp or risk having a public that is scared bc of an abductor and losing more faith in LE. The last thing in the world LE in Nh would wantto do is admit that there is an abductor out there and they can't find him. They prob knew from the start that they most likely would never catch the guy, so rather than admit it they chose to lie. Even the next night smith was lying and told Fred that he had no idea a youn girl was even driving the car. So really asshole? That night something was so wrong w the scene that it caused u to look up her tailpipe & mention the rag to neighbors and then the next nite your gonna tell her father u didn't even kno a girl was driving te car? This is a direct lie from LE to try to cove their asses right from the beginning. Smith clearly saw something was wrong with te situation when he came across the Saturn that nite. I bet u anything if he truly answered je would tell u he saw signs of a struggle. Notice he wasn't on the ID show? I've never heard of him being interviewed for any media. He probably feels awful that he had to lie to save face for the brass. Think about it, the only reason to ever look up the tailpipe is if you saw signs of a struggle AND evidence that the car had lost power whole driving. If the car just lost power there would b no need to look for anything nefarious. If there was just signs of a struggle but the car seemed to be fine, same thing no need to look. Take a look at the pix of the car, it's hard to say years later but it still kinda even looks like there was a struggle. I think the rag in the tailpipe is a hugely important thing that can't be overlooked. It is NOT an innocent little thing. It was NOT put there to alert incoming cars that's just insane to even siggest. It was NOT pit there to stop the car from smoking, thats even more insane to suggest. Find out who put the rag there, find out who hurt maura

Jenkins, what is it in the car pix that makes you think it looks like there was a struggle?

Hi all if I did not want a car to be driven ii would take something like a stick. And shove a rag in the tailpipe .The car may start but it will soon stall. To be rally effective I would wet it first or wrap some snow in it so it would freeze like a rock inside the pipe. When the rag was found in the tailpipe is a important. Why the Saturn was being worked on at all is another mystery..Is it normal in NH to get a search warrant for an abandoned car.I was told the car was stored inside at Lavooes overnight not sure if the search warrant request would normally require that to happen, I guess if it was not secure The driver could just go and get it. From what I have read a search warrant would not be neede to search the car the next day so do someone see signs of a crime that night and secure so they could go to it later .It was reported that EMS andFD were asked or told to stay away from the Saturn whether by sgtSmith or someone higher up is anyone's guess.take care philip321832

There was absolutely no signs of a struggle so can you point out any evidence that you see to the contrary?

Det Columbo wrote: Who was really the 1st. LE officer at the scene of Maura's accident..? John Det Columbo/John, Thatīs an intriguing and valid question for sure. However, there are certain things which are actively discouraged here discussion-wise, as we all know. Suffice it to refer to witness ROīs observations that fateful night and her encounter with a certain LE representative in Swiftwater village. It would have been interesting to have been able to ask RO whether this officer was driving his cruiser that night or whether he was in his private vehicle. I donīt think this has ever been stated anywhere.
