If they know there were prints going into the woods where did the prints go? They must have ended somewhere.
If they know Maura is dead then they must know where the body is or how would they know she is dead.

Maybe because of the reports of people walking on 112 westerly (Witness reports) and they wanted Fire and EMS(?) to BOL on the way to the scene.
But Yes I agree as well that BOL should have gone out to all LE in surrounding area that night as soon as they had the basic desc.
