Something/Someone else must have alerted them to checking up on that type of vehicle just a few hours after Maura´s vanishing.

If some "dirtbag" took her then that car oils hold potential forensic evidence. Why wouldn't je want that looked at?
On one hand he's critiquing LE for not doing forensics on it while at the same time saying he wants to car crushed?
If he really thought she got abducted shouldn't he want that car??
I would want to send it out to a private forensics lab if LE didn't want to.
If he's trying to conduct his own investigation why wouldn't he get it forensically examine to see exactly who had been in that car recently.
More and more these little facts keep lining up and seem to be saying to me that freds whole thing is quite possibly an act.

They forget she was there only 3 months and then got kicked out for stealing.
