I know. That is what makes it so disturbing to me. That someone with those kind of credentials, could have actually walked through the timeline/theory and figured a way to work this idea in. Figured they either found this look alike just hanging around, or better yet. Came up from Mass following Maura with the lookalike in the car, waiting for the chance to pounce.
What kind of a twonker could come up with such an idea?

Do most people believe Rick Forcier's sighting? I have no idea what to believe but why would he lie about it. He is a father himself and he doesn't seem like a guy that is dishonest.

I just don't put too much weight on what he says, because his memory was not very good about whether he was working that night and he waited so long to even remember that he thought he saw someone. It also might not have been Maura he saw, even if he really did see someone that night. LE must have taken him seriously though, because I read (in the media, not here) that they conducted a search of the area where he thought he saw her based on his possible sighting.
I think there is no possible way that they searched a big enough area though. She could have made it 7 miles or 10, or made it how far into the woods, or gotten into a car.
I also believe it is possible that someone passing through gave her a ride, with good intentions, and never even heard she was missing. That route 112, I am told, is a direct route to Loon Mountain a ski resort. So a tourist passing through would not necessarily hear about this later. If this is true, then she could have been killed later by someone in any other area.
There are so many possibilities, if she did run east.
