Judged: 1 1 1 I guess I could, for one, not that I'm a twonker :) Look back to what just happened in VT. A guy feels ok to actually tell his WIFE, that he wants to go get a girl, go find a girl. Here's an excerpt from an article I will post below it: Police say that on Sunday night, Allen Prue decided he wanted to "get a girl," and he and his wife concocted a plan to target Jenkins. His wife allegedly phoned Jenkins to say their vehicle had broken down and they needed help. Jenkins put her 2-year-old into her SUV and drove to meet the pair, but she called a friend before she left and told him whom she was going to see and where. http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/nationnow/... I'm not saying I think this happened to Maura but it helps to show how something could be dreampt up, implimented and put into action with the help of another female, to attack/kidnap, and so on... Rather than bore everyone with the she could've taken the car to dump it in the woods, he could've...I'll just say that these two people together pulled a quick net over the teachers better thinking. They tricked her. She was smart enough to call a friend though in case anything were to happen, I suppose...and so sad, oye. |

Judged: 1 1 1 RO made the statement that le wasnt interested in the red truck initially. It is apparent to me that they were. I hope that is clearer. |

Judged: 1 1 1 She may have intended to go into hiding and then something happened on the way. |

Judged: 1 1 1 anonymousone, Maura might also have returned to her car after having walked as far as BHR. This means she could have been picked up while waiting by her car. |
Judged: 1 1 1 Maura had locked her car though so this indicates that she was attempting to leave her car for at least a short time. |

Judged: 1 1 1 Yes and probably put the Rag in the tailpipe that's probably what explains the flurry of activity at the trunk. |

Judged: 1 1 1 Yes good point but hiding from what? |

Judged: 2 1 1 Hannah, you've been around the MM boards a long time right? Do you know if it was ever explained by the family etc whether Fred actually did have an alibi, was proof ever given to the public that he was working? Whether the supposed/rumored secret boyfriend was ever accounted for and cleared? Who she went to the NYE party in Goshen with? I am NOT accusing these people in any way, just wondering if these things were ever accounted for so we can dismiss these as possibilities. I am also wondering what you think she might have been going into hiding from. |
Judged: 1 1 1 The rag in the tailpipe is the baffling part and the other question is why she would open her trunk. |
|
Judged: 2 2 1 Do most people believe Rick Forcier's sighting? I have no idea what to believe but why would he lie about it. He is a father himself and he doesn't seem like a guy that is dishonest. |

Judged: 4 2 2 I think Frostman might be right in her theory that Maura might have put the rag there herself hoping the car would not be stolen. The flurry of activity at the trunk reportedly happened after the bus driver left. If she ran or willingly got into another vehicle, I think this is when that happened. I can't imagine an abducter would take the time to put a rag in the tailpipe after abducting her right there - with no sign of a struggle. Even if her trunk had been open at the time. There was just so little time, and witnesses looking out their windows. Too risky. I used to think someone put it there to stall her car, but I was told that people try it and the rag pops back out. Also, the rag was identified by Fred, supposedly, as being from her emergency kit. He also said he told her to put it in the tailpipe if her car smoked. |

Judged: 3 1 1 I would like to clarify from my post yesterday, I do not think he was intentionally lying. I just don't put too much weight on what he says, because his memory was not very good about whether he was working that night and he waited so long to even remember that he thought he saw someone. It also might not have been Maura he saw, even if he really did see someone that night. LE must have taken him seriously though, because I read (in the media, not here) that they conducted a search of the area where he thought he saw her based on his possible sighting. I think there is no possible way that they searched a big enough area though. She could have made it 7 miles or 10, or made it how far into the woods, or gotten into a car. I also believe it is possible that someone passing through gave her a ride, with good intentions, and never even heard she was missing. That route 112, I am told, is a direct route to Loon Mountain a ski resort. So a tourist passing through would not necessarily hear about this later. If this is true, then she could have been killed later by someone in any other area. There are so many possibilities, if she did run east. |

Judged: 2 1 The dog would have tracked her scent back. Easy task for a well trained dog, even my pup can do it. |
Judged: 1 1 Yes I agree that she likely headed East on 112 but the other question is why didn't other cars see her? Private Investigators looked into this and in the evenings Route 112 gets a fair amount of traffic. Its a Catch 22 - Either she disappeared in front of Butch Atwood's driveway and he is not saying who picked her up or she did head eastward but other cars aside from Rick Forcier did not see her. None of this makes any sense either way. This is by far the most baffling disappearance I have read about but I think that is why it is getting so much attention. |
|
Judged: 2 2 2 did you know that Butch Atwood is dead? he can't inform, nor can he defend himself. never could, i suppose....the undertow has always been so strong why do you think MM's disappearance is getting so much attention after 8 years? |
|
Judged: 2 2 1 Yes I know Atwood died in Florida, I don't think he had anything to do with it and I also don't think he witnessed anything unusual. |

Judged: 3 3 2 All that has ever been said is Fred was at work at the hospital in CT. No proof ever, at least none made public. The supposed secret boyfriend has never been mentioned by family or LE, so we don´t know if he was investigated. His existance has been vehemntly denied by those close to the family. There has never been mention of who was at the Goshen party. IIRC there hasn´t even been mentioned the party was in Goshen until recently. If she meant to go into hiding when she left Amherst I believe it had to do with her having somehow messed up on her probation (Vasi? something else?) and she was facing jail time, or at least believed right or wrong that she was. |
