Hannah would salt mixed with sand weaken or cover a scent?

I donīt know, but itīs unlikely. If it did, drug smugglers wouldnīt have a problem with border control. I want to add I have only done people tracking and air scent work, no chemical substances or cadaver training except for a few classes (theory only) and game/blood tracking (deer and moose). Competitional work as well as SAR, at least here, is exclusively done on live people scent. I have only done SAR as a volunteer, but am working with, training and handling dogs professionally. There are no civilian pro SAR dog handlers here, only LE or military.

Thank you for answering. I should have been clearer in what I was asking.
Here in the winter they put sand/salt on the roads. More is put down on hills and curves.
The bottom of BHR is kept salted so drivers coming down the hill are able to stop.
I was just curious if this could be why Maura's scent was lost there.

Maura was said to have left Amherst somewhere between 3:30 and 4:30. What what did Mauras day consist of until that time? I did read that Maura was said to have picked up the Toyota accident forms
so I am assuming she did that on Monday.

Was she with Fred on Monday morning dealing with the rent a car for the Toyota crash? Why did she leave so late in the day. Phone calls and internet searches were made noon ish etc..

Was school supposed to start back up on that Monday ?
I don't remember much discussion about Monday morning prior to her leaving.

Maura was probably in her worst place(mind) on sat and sunday due to the Toyota crash and, if she was suicidal then one would think that Sunday night or first thing Monday would be the time to do it. I personnaly don't think suicide was on her mind when she left Amherst.

Mauras obtaining of the accident reports suggests to me that she was planning on calling Fred as she said she was going to on that Mon eve. All bets were prob off after the saturn crash however but what is confusing is by all accounts the saturn was drivable and probably no big deal as its trade in value was probably zilch anyway. However, a 21 year olds mind tends to see little things as catastrophic.

I've posted on this forum before, but many months ago.

Anyway, I believed then and still believe that maura went to the white mountains to contemplate and possibly follow through with suicide.

She had a book about the white mountains in her car, was just getting into the white mountains national forest at the time of her second wreck ... and yet after eight years, we are still trying to figure out where maura was going? Odd!

I think she left so late on a monday afternoon because her intention was to stay the night in a hotel (close to a hiking trail) so that she could set off early in the morning and do what her father had talked about doing previously and that was "whenever he felt worthless, he was going to take a bottle of jack and head for the mountains and drink himself to death."

I think maura (if not for the second wreck which I believe to be unplanned) was going to lock her car up and leave it abandoned close to the hiking trail she was going to take on so that police and family would find her car with the accident forms for her father and her personal belongings. I believe that she would've likely provided some sort of suicide note *had she made it to her hotel that monday night*

I think she was going to get drunk that monday night as she conteplated writing a suicide note and taking her own life ... She may have backed-out of the plan alltogether as well.

the second wreck (again I believe to be unplanned) may have forced her to improvise and speed up plans.

Sugar, sweetie, rabble rouser , take your pick....the PI was relaying info directly from Connecticut search and rescue. So your expertise from message board mudslinging is compatible to that of people who's job it is to track using trained dogs? You just got owned. Carry on, sweetie.

Stud, totally off topic, forgive me, but, my wife is down your way visiting her ailing father ( and seemingly trying, with the help of her sister, to relieve the local package store of all of their Corona). I wonder if you could tell me where she could find the Turtle Man? I need his autograph for my oldest boy? ; )

Maybe to a private forum. I'll go out on a limb here and try to answer. I post rarely now and if you notice some of the posters that actually make sense have also left or only post once in awhile now.I'm still here reading but don't find it in my best interest to reply only to have to defend that reply and argue with another poster about it.
I think some just got tired of jwb's BS of harassing the posters with threats and snide remarks when he didn't like something they said. Read back yourself and see the crap that a few posters have dealt with from him.
Below is just one small example of a newer poster(grampamo) that no longer posts here most likely becuase of being accused of being someone else and BS thrown at them by JWB.
No one should have to put up with that just to post on an internet forum.

Jwb this is all a big game to you. A power game of trying to control the forum. Hate to disappoint you but I'm not WTH,snowy, wowzer or anyone else.
I don't have time to be here all the time like you so I check the forum when I'm able to.
And When it comes to a missing person I do not play games so game off jwb because I refuse to play.

Your lies are catching up to you.How could you be so familiar with the area, own a home not far away and not know where the Big Eddy is especially since you stated you were there about 2o yrs ago.
(THanks shack. I knew it was on 112 close to 302 but I thought it was more like a mile instead of 2-3, but I actually have only been there once like 20 years ago.)
Above you state (I not only know the area extremely well, I live there, well about half the time. I have a house about 25 miles from the WB curve.)
While you think everyone is attacking you when they reply to you that's not what I'm doing. Just bringing it to your attention why some think you are full of sh*t and making up stuff as you go.
And here is some Jenkins bashing from Grandpamo for your entertainment.

Jenkins, there was no movie, lol, you are such a stooge.
It is a saying, "Surely you have seen the movie or read the book?"
What it means is that there is common knowledge out there about how things work that surely you must know, do you understand?
I really must ask you this, perhaps you care to answer? How do you know all this information about police work? About how undercover narcotics operations work?
You make such bold statements, yet I can't help wonder, how do you know? Aside from 'literally' watching movies or reading books, how would you know how a major narcotics operation works? The logistics of it?
You are so silly, every one of your opinions is based on complete garbage, you have no experience whatsoever. You are a 30-something unemployed kid who writes in Text and has never been a police officer, yet you expect anyone to believe when you say that things work this way, they don't work that way?
It's absurd, you are ridiculous and frankly I suspect your IQ is barely above room temp.
Just the statement that undercover cops don't need and therefore don't have alternate ID's because no one at the drug deal asks you for your license, is absolutely absurd. Just that alone should demonstrate to the 6 readers that you are full of shit.
Seriously? There is no need for a cover ID because no one asks you for it? So, I am to assume that undercover cops just cruise around with their badge, ID, and pictures of the wife and kiddies in their wallet?
LOL, ridiculous, absolutely riduculous. The only time I EVER did any business without at least a partial cover, to include a cover ID, was when I was meeting with a CI who I knew and trusted, other than that I never had less than 1 or 2 cover ID's on me. Never.
Ridiculous, you should stop watching so many movies, start to use your head and think before you type.
You make me laugh, as well as the other chumps who will jump and and say something witty like "get a life", lol. So original.
Hey, how did I get dragged into this? I don't watch movies and I try to limit my thinking as much as possible..!

Well, thoroughly dysfunctional if their "mission" is to find Maura?

I must say you're quite an entertaining little fella. But with all these posts you are bringing up I fail to see where anyone threatened to bring other posters real identities into the forum like you did and I must say I was dismayed to hear that someone was phoning around and asking for wowzer. Only a low life slug would do something like that. There are several posts on this forum where you are asking wowzer if he/she saw the accident from their window and which house did they live in.You asked over and over and over again.Dam scary!
JMHO but I think you are a dangerous person. For a grown man it's odd that you get so upset and go to such lengths over a missing woman that you never knew.
Play your games jwb. Keep up the entertainment because it's obvious that's all this forum is good for anymore. You've certainly given me a chuckle or two with your shenanigans.
