Lighthouse 101 wrote: <quoted text> What if MM was heading to VT using the interstate and then her car started to smoke? She then pulled over and put the rag into the exhaust. The car was still smoking a little and she turned off the interstate and took side roads because she didn't want to attract attention to herself. This could change her destination that was originally thought as Bartlett. It could explain why there was a gap in the timeline. Maybe then she stopped for a little bit to fix the smoking car. This could explain why VT lodging numbers were called. It could explain the map quest directions for VT found in her car. In her search directions was Burlington vt. Maura was headed completely opposite of burlington when she left the interstate and entered the white mountains national forest. to a novice of the area, taking the exit off of I-91N that maura did, would seem like the shortest possible way to get to bartlett. I believe Maura would've been a novice in the sense of driving to the bartlett area, especially leaving from her campus as opposed as from Hanson (her home town). Now maura was familiar with bartlett and the surrounding area, but getting there, she likely just did a mapquest search and saw that she could cut through the 112 and get to Bartlett as opposed to going up and back around by just taking all interstate.

If you just do a google map search right now from UMASS to Bartlett it will have you go up I-91North and take the very same exit that Maura took. The only difference is that once you exit off the interstate the google map tells you to stay on the 302 and drive up to littleton and then back around to get to bartlett. Maura (if physically looking at a map, would clearly see that staying on the 112 (which is what she did) would be a more direct access to getting to bartlett ...(of course that is not taking into consideration that you are taking country roads instead of interstate and that is also not taking into consideration for things like snow. I will bet that Maura was heading towards the bartlett area

just me wrote: <quoted text> Thank you citigirl. I mean it when I say I respect your answers and point of view. I shouldn't have said what I did yesterday and have since realized that you try your best to keep your answers straight to the point. Your answers sometimes come across as evasive,(maybe just to me because I don't understand at times)but you are so kind to mind your manners like you do, and not read into things. I admire that. I'm happy that you can still respond to some of us (like me), who may have ever offended you. As for the other poster, I don't know, but she's bound to recall this because it was a moment in time for her. Her friend, new to winter driving may have driven off the road, only to leave again in a private vehicle. I would hope that as a social worker she would take the telling of it back if she thought it to be untrue. The private investigaors thought there was a first accident too. But as some do say, maybe the car was demolished to hide any previous damage. I would hope that's not what this is all about, and that Maura was tricked in the process. The best thing to do is if you dont understand something is to ask the poster who posted the posting you dont understand. The person that posted about hearing the first accident on the scanner was not a social worker. You are right about the thoughts of the private investigators. When I said I had big doubts about the first accident I had stated it as being my own opinion.

just me wrote: <quoted text> I take it Whiston thinks with so many skilled and highly trained people in the family, at least one of them would have looked into the computer activities. Just a reminder, Maura's computer went to the UMASS, or MA police first. They then made a copy of her hard drive. THEN it was given to Kathleen who kept it in her closet for months. Police came to get some of these things back after working with the FBI and trying to eliminate any connection to Brianna Maitland who went missing just 90 miles away. I hope my memorie serves correct on this. Who stated LE made a copy of the hard drive? If this was a true fact then LE would have had no reson to retrieve the computer back if they already had the info that was in the hard drive. Just because family are skilled and highly trained does not mean there skills have anything to do with computers.

As for, well, we shouldn't name her. I thought she had mentioned that at one time, i truely did. But I know who you are referring to. Thank you

Probably because the ones that were in the vehicle no longer worked.

If FM and family aren't smart enough to do anything with computers than why is FM writing the governor and asking for it back? The family had a PI working the case very shortly after they went missing. I'm sure that they could have done the forensics for FM on the PC at that time.

Hi citigirl and all.It was reported way back that light bulb packaging or boxes were found in the saturn.I have assumed that someone replaced a light bub in the saturn between October 2003 and Feb 09 2004.Was it done over Christmas break who knows. As for the computer, maybe it was taken back by L.E. to see if it had been turned on for the 100 days it was not with them.Did L.E. just show up and take the computer or did they give notice to the Murrays.

As for the computer, maybe it was taken back by L.E. to see if it had been turned on for the 100 days it was not with them.Did L.E. just show up and take the computer or did they give notice to the Murrays. From the way it is worded in the Maura Is Missing article, it seems a NH state trooper showed up unannounced: "...on June 8, 2005, Vermont and New Hampshire State Police issued a joint press release stating there was no connection between the Maura Murray and Brianna Maitland cases. "Investigators believe that Maura was headed for an unknown destination and may have accepted a ride in order to continue to that location," said Lt. Scarinza in the release, adding there were "no signs of any struggle, or any other evidence, which would indicate that a crime had been committed." Two weeks later, a N.H. State Police Trooper turned up on the doorstep of Maura's sister Kathleen's home in Hanover, Mass. The trooper requested that all items found in Maura's car be returned. Maura's belongings had been given to the Murray family within two weeks of the accident. Police also confiscated the hard drive of Maura's computer, which had been in her dorm room and took custody of Maura's car, which had been sitting unlocked at a North Haverhill, N.H. garage since the accident. Police explained that a major crimes unit of the State Police was stepping into the case and wanted to conduct forensic tests of Maura's car and personal belongings."

WTH-the-original wrote: <quoted text> It explains nothing as far as I can tell. All those calls and search for directions happened before she left on the trip as far as I know. The rag appears to have absolutely nothing to do with why she did anything related to why she might have gone missing. The car, where found, could have easily been headed to Bartlett, an area her father says she knew well. While it might not have been the best way to get there, it would have been consistent with someone who had gone that way in the summer months. Bill Know it all Bill. Always shooting down people's opinions. What a tool.

They have done it hundreds of times before, just ask them. But to prevent lawsuits, like, McDonald's coffee type lawsuits. Yes, we will disclose that hot things can burn you, which may cause discomfort. Bill It takes a real man to know about cars. Thanks Amy. Very interesting indeed. There's a couple of things that were said that caused me to say "HUH" while shaking my head. I'll let everyone form their own opinions on the clip.

I don't recognize that big open cement tank he's looking into either. I have no idea where he was searching. I know the woods fairly well around here but those two things are unfamiliar to me.

The lower elevations that Fred was in could look like that. Again, hard to tell. I'm not really sure how anyone could say definitively one way or another unless they were there when he searched the tarps. Bill
