When I talk to some about it, they will say who?? I think it needs to be brought back out again either newspapers or flyers. Most people in NH have never heard of mm or have any idea she is missing, that is a fact plain and simple. It's crazy, pretty much nobody I've ever mentioned it to had ever even heard of it, including my roommate who was from woodsville. People on here have this notion that everyone knows about this case and it simply is not true, I would estimate that easily 90% of NH residents have never heard of it, think how low the number probably isin other states.

When I have something to say I just say it period. I think we know who the poster was right? I don't think it was you. I truthfully couldn't begin to guess who it was. It seemed apparent to me that they were trying to disguise themselves by writing things in a queer way...but I can't imagine who it was. I find it mildly amusing that they posted information about me (obviously gleaned from this very thread, when I posted my first name, and I've previously stated my job several times over the past couple years). I'm not threatened by being 'outed' but I do appreciate that posters I've never held any special bond with, like Wowzer, came out and protested at him 'naming' me. It was greatly appreciated, on my part. I don't see what the motivation behind that was - perhaps to illustrate their wicked cool Google prowess?(Note: It's easy to find a name/job title. That's what LinkedIn is for. Chicago is a big city, very far away from all this MM action. Why would I be scared?) Then again, as Amy stated months ago, it's scary to have some interwebs sleuth trying to track down your RL name - regardless. Oh well...that's the Maura Murray thread, for ya.

I wonder if Snowy still reads here. After a bumpy start (When I first started posting, I was thought by some multi-monikered poster of old, trying to deceive everyone with a new name)- she ended up really growing on me! And now I miss her thought-provoking (although, admittedly, somewhat caustic) posts.

Then you have to ask - how did she get into the room - how did you keep on sleeping when the tow truck was outside. If you look at his statement to LE - he still says he was asleep the whole night. Why is it so important for him to tell everyone he was just sleeping? JR's website makes reference to FM's cellphone bill for that day. Doesn't it show activity at 5:30 or 6:30 that morning. He claims to be in bed till 10AM. Then when he was told about the crash, it wasn't a big deal. I think this is the biggest part of the case, and it is the most hazy. I don't think any of this has to point to foul play, but if MM was going through some hard times and got into a fight with her biggest supporter that could have set her over the edge and made her want to leave. If you look at the Quality Inn (now Comfort Inn) where he stayed on Google Maps/Street View, there is plenty of parking in the front. Then you have to drive through a covered main entrance that leads to another parking area. It seems to me that the tow truck driver would have dropped off the car in the area with the most room, and that he would be less likely to drive a towed car through one of those entrances. The hotel has interior entrance doors off a central hallway. There is no hotel parking on the west side of the first building, which makes it furthest from the front parking area. Therefore, depending on his room location, especially the further you get from the road and front parking area, he may very well have been unable to hear a tow truck. Add to that, as a New Englander, he may have learned to drown out things like snowplows constantly running in winter and would not have noticed a tow truck. Add in that he had a few drinks, and it isn't far-fetched that he never heard a thing. Coordinates for the Quality/Comfort Inn: 42.347196,-72.572189 It was MM who made the phone calls in the early morning from Fred's cellphone. From the story Maura is Missing in the Whitman-Hanson Express: "At 4:49 on Sunday morning a little while after the accident Maura called her boyfriend, Billy Rausch, on her father's cell phone. Billy consoled her over the phone, though he would later say he thought there was more than just the accident on Maura's mind." She had a hallway to go into to make the call, or the reception area, or even possibly some conference rooms, that hotel has a few. She also could have gone outside, even if it was cold, so he wouldn't have heard the calls. I have no idea if she had a key or not and can't find info on it right now. After all that, I do believe that Fred probably has downplayed what happened after he found out about the car accident. He was probably really pissed off, and words may have been said that he deeply regrets. I just don't believe at all that he had anything to do with her disappearance.

I do think it's difficult to surmise, however, what role, if any, the fallout from the accident had upon her mental state. I can't recall if it's been confirmed that Fred had a dom. batt history - or if that was simply a rumor? Assuming it were true, a reasonable inference could be drawn that he would, at the very least, fly off the handle at this. I'm not suggesting he battered her - but those who have domestic batteries in their history are prone to angry outbursts and even the smallest perceived slights, let alone a serious accident in a brand-new car. Hypothetically, if he did react poorly (and, in my opinion, being upset would not be unreasonable - I'd yell at my kid, too!)- maybe that could be the impetus for her eventual departure. Then again, it's all conjecture. I can't remember whether or not it's a confirmed fact that he had previously been charged with a domestic.

I don't know you Shack, but it is not right. I speak on this forum on behalf of people period!!! JWB you are still a funny guy. I do wonder how nauseous you might have been when Shack was repeatedly talking about SBD and others in the area and how they were responsible for Maura's disappearance? I wonder how indignant you would have been when Shack and some others would have been accusing people in the area of colluding with police to kidnap and probably murder Maura? I wonder if you could have worked up a tiny amount of nausea when Shack was repeatedly warned about what she was doing was counter productive to finding Maura? You talk about no one in that area, having never heard of Maura. You sure? Or do they not want to have anything to do with her case considering the history? Gee JWB, you seem to wonder why no one, NO ONE, has come forward with information about Maura, if anyone knows anything. Ask Shack why someone might not want to admit it. Being elderly is no excuse for being a douche bag. Being a woman is no excuse for being a douche bag. If you don't want to be treated like an asshole, don't act like an asshole. I personally don't give a rats ass if you are old, young, man, woman, black, or white. If you are an asshole, I'll treat you as such, and not hesitate to tell everyone who comes here that you are one. Yeah, I remember how nauseous I use to get reading Shacks posts....still. Bill

Years ago I asked if staff and other guests at FM´s hotel, the quality INn, were ever interviewed about the night MM showed up. I got the eply from a posyter supposedly in the know ofall things Murray, I believe it was Firecat, there were no other guests and no staff on duty. Kind of a strange hotel?

I stayed at the same hotel (intentionally) that fred and maura stayed at when I visited the amherst area in the summer of 2011. The hotel does have a big parking area in the back of the hotel (i would assume that is where the tow truck driver dropped off Fred's car. The room I stayed in was very small and you can hear all kinds of noise coming from the parking lot outside your window. The biggest thing I got from staying there (Comfort Inn was a Quality Inn) was when I talked to the hotel manager. She ironically began at that hotel in February of 2004 (same time maura and fred were there). However, she has never heard of maura murray, and has never heard anything about a missing student from UMASS.

NOBODY in the Amherst/western mass area knows about Maura or that a umass student is missing. In sure someone does but definitely nobody I ever spoke to did; I was always pretty surprised about that. She could theoretically be living in Northampton and nobody would ever know it because nobody is lookin for her. W mass might be another area that would be good to plaster with posters. Should be done soon before it's too late and anyone with any info has completely forgot or moved on

What the hell are you talking about? How much did it cost you to put up a poster? I have put up money from my own pocket and helped in the search for Maura from March 2004 until June 2007.My out of the pocket cost has been into the thousands. Although it was not easy I find it was money well spent to help find a missing relative. Although I have never met Wowzer I believe she/him have searched for Maura. At what date did you become involved in the search for Maura?
