Are you saying that her computer couldn't be looked at because it was password protected? After all the years of talking about it why wasn't this ever mentioned? We were told that her sister that had the computer knew nothing about computers. Just wondering.
I am assuming Maura's computer was password protected from UMASS. If someone gave me a password protected computer to hack, I'd have to hire a geek.....

It is a denigrating term that some from NH use to talk about people not used to the mountains. Referring to people from MA, CT, RI usually. Pointing out again, that it usually is used as an insult?

We have no way of knowing for sure what was given back to family and what wasn't.The only thing I know that was just sitting from what we were told was her computer which was sitting in her sister's closet. We were told she knew nothing about computers and that was why it just sat there and wasn't looked at.
What parents? What meeting? That's the first I've heard of parents searching for Maura.
There were no people getting off busses anywhere near the accident. The SBD dropped kids off the bus at the school about 5-6 miles away. Where are you getting your information from?
Mauras belongings that were in her vehicle were given back the first or second week after she disappeared. In June of 2004 LE went to her sisters house and retrieved the computer as well as the belongings of Mauras that were in her vehicle. There is an itemized list from LE with what they retrieved in June of 2004 from Mauras sisters house.I dont have a date as to when the computer was given back. I have never heard of any parents searching for Maura. You are correct the school drop off was miles away.

Mcsmom, I would love to go. I am an outdoorsman and would like to climb a mountain. I might need help at times, but by next fall, maybe not. I was planning on going to Tucson, but I could change that if interest in this is still there and people in numbers. It would be nice to get attention and free press for awareness from various places. Instead of walkathon it would be a clinbathon and money could go to the investigators.
Did you see the message about your climb? Did it ever hit 32 degrees?

Jenkins in 2004 if MM made any reservation she would need to use a Debit or Credit Card. This would be easy to track. She would also need directions to travel where she put the address to where she was going on map quest.
I don't think for a second LE or family had no idea where she was going.
You want another hint - The lady who ran that rental in VT that was contacted by Sharon in the fall of 2004. Do you think the PIs or LE wouldn't interview her before that if they had no idea where she was going?
She had phone records to show where she called - CC info to prove reservation info - and map quest info. I think it is safe to say they knew where she was going.
You very well may be right here, this post makes sense lighthouse. It could be very well possible that they know where she was headed, or have a pretty good idea at least.
But you gotta remember that there's a good possibility he didn't make any reservations. She called go-Stowe and the salomones. I was always under the impression that she realized that renting a condo on such short notice wasn't going to be feasible, and that was why she subsequently looked up directions to Burlington, that would be a town that you can get a hotel room without reservation in. That is why i theorize she was going to Lincoln. She was familiar with that area and would have known there was a lot of hotels in that area and she'd be able to get a room without a reservation.
So who knows if they truly know her destination but something I agree with you on is the fact that is seems like they really might, your right, if they truly have no idea where she was going or what might have happened shouldn't her last phone calls be one of the first places they look? Seems like day one stuff right there.

Good post lighthouse

I haven't seen the message, and yes, it was snowing and blowing on the top, made me think of Lizzy Bourne, I think her name was, died in the early ?1800's while trying to climb Mt Washington. Her plight is a chapter in Howe's book, Not Without Peril. The book Maura liked so well.

Hot mail. Anybody can learn it. Whenever you want to view source, that is:the page you're on.....a whole new page will show up documenting the changing of "hats" (in otherwords screennames) it shows you when people judge and if lucky, you will spot who.
It's right below "add to favorites" when you right click on a page. For photos, you can find the properties and trace it back sometimes all the way to the originator of the picture. Even through all the re-naming of jpegs. Alot og hullaballu, but a fun thing to know.
Sorry I got so frustrated, but it seemed like a kick to me to see this same person opposing me so.

From a post I wrote earlier when it occurred to me that you had just been out climbing in the same kind of weather. By all accounts the temperature was 32 on the night Maura went missing.

Mcsmom, was it cold as you climbed? Did it ever reach 32 degrees? Do you feel she could do it, if you could? Please answer if you see this.

Wow, I had no idea you could see who judges. You're quite the wizard. I'm calling you The Wiz from now on. Haha.

I have a pretty good idea who my nut-and-lip-thrower is, but I wouldn't want to take away their fun. I'm amused by these judge people. I imagine this is how they go through real life also -- don't like someone or disagree, so throw food at them instead of just saying something. Gotta love topix.:-)

Oh gosh, my first thought is that the Long Trail would have been snow covered when Maura went missing.

Yes, this past Sunday it was around 32 degrees at the top, snowing and windy.

It took me almost 4 hours to reach the summit. Maura probably could have done it in, and I'm guessing, 2 hours or less.

It was damn hard.

There are alternate routes that are less challenging, though.

Did you bring a longtrail beer with you Mcsmom?

The nearest hiking trail from the crash site, I believe would be the appalacian trail and that is a good 12 miles away. I guess there is a trail on the other side of the river behind lost river gorge. I am not sure of the name of it is or if it is even acessible in winter. disclaimer: I am not a hiker.

My feeling is , Even if the trails were her destination, I would think the accident would have squashed those plans. maura was in an area of 112 that she had never been to before according to fred and I just don't see her venturing far alone without proper atire or knowing how far she was from where she wanted to go.

I feel family knows for certain what mauras fate is. JMO

Here is my back up to my statement
"I feel family knows for certain what mauras fate is"

1) No searches since 2006

2) 75% chance of conviction NHSP

3) persons of interest

4) Cleared Video guy immediately

5) Family and friends won't talk to renner

6) No asking of locals to help in new search or to put up posters.

6) Family first thought Suicide/Runnaway then started talking abduction/Murder.

Easy to pick apart I know, but this is why I made the statement. If you ask any locals around here, they will sy Maura who? i ask, why is that? If it were my daughter , I would take note and maybe try to get the word out again.

JWB offered to be proactive and help put posters up for Maura and a family member basically shut me out as if I was saying - "what have you done to help find maura"> Is it that outrageous to ask Mauras family to pick up the tab for posters that I was willing to put in businesses etc in the area?
should that expense fall on JWB? I am talking about plastering the area again and not just one poster.

I am really disgusted by it quite honestly, and I feel like it was a real slap in the face. How dare you want to help says citigirl- I have spent thousands!! really? is that your response citigirl? I am sure you did but why go there. I am someone local that is willing to help and didn't feel shunned as some have said.

I might have said - hey Jwb thanks for offering your time to help.

Citigirl- can you tell me where posters were set up in littleton, Lincoln /woodstock ?
