The following link is a result of a search I just did before I settle down for the debates on TV. It's something I've never seen before, and terribly inaccurate, but here goes:

I have that book and don't find it to be all that inaccurate, at least in my opinion.

There are two pages missing from the free preview you get by going to that link you provided.

On those two missing pages, not much else is learned.

New Hampshire State Police Sergeant Thomas Yourke states that "There is no evidence she (maura) was abducted. As far as we are concerned, she is a missing person."

Also family and friends describe maura as not being a drinker.

thanks Orko, debates coming on and I never miss them. I got to the part about the can of skye blue malt being on the front seat, that and the bottle of wine part, seemed wrong on details....which book is this? It's also very intersting, but I need to go now.

This is very interesting too, will have to look into this more. I sure do hope Maura is out there somewhere!

Mcsmom, thanks for your answer, and BTW, I think was a pretty cool for you to do, and for Maura. Maybe that should make headlines in and of it'self, lol.
But what I meant was, do you think Maura could have walked/ran/hid/&been ok the night she went missing? I wondered because most accounts put the temp that night at 32 degrees.
I was thinking since you could handle it, and the time/effort it took to get down from the cold windy/snowy mountain....your opinion would rank highly for me. I still have hope too.
32 degrees snowy and windy, IMO would not have been a problem for Maura.

Did you bring a longtrail beer with you Mcsmom?
The nearest hiking trail from the crash site, I believe would be the appalacian trail and that is a good 12 miles away. I guess there is a trail on the other side of the river behind lost river gorge. I am not sure of the name of it is or if it is even acessible in winter. disclaimer: I am not a hiker.
My feeling is , Even if the trails were her destination, I would think the accident would have squashed those plans. maura was in an area of 112 that she had never been to before according to fred and I just don't see her venturing far alone without proper atire or knowing how far she was from where she wanted to go.
I feel family knows for certain what mauras fate is. JMO

At 4 am the pool and exercise room would've been closed for sure, that doesn't mean she didn't go into the hallway or outside to make the call, which is probably what she did.

But either way the notion that Fred didn't want up at all that night is pretty unbelievable, and judging by how many other things he wrote in that statement we now know are false I would venture to say that was false as well, but who knows for sure.

What doesn't make sense to me is why didn't they buy the car? He said he had 4 g's on him in that statement, so why didn't they buy the car? He also, in that statement, makes it out like they didn't find a car. But in all public statements he said they did pick out a car. So clearly he is Lying in one of those statements, I wonder which one.

Did he eve put that 4 g's back in the bank? Did he give that $ to Maura to help her run? We ne'er heard anything about 4 g's until we saw that written statement to LE. Everything else he said they picked a car out and were comin bak the following week to buy it. I got the sense when reading that statement that he said that to LE bc thy would've been able to go look at his bank records.

Honestly that statement by Fred makes me think that she was running away and that he was helping her do that.

Something else that he said that always struck me as odd was that he got the call Tuesday night, correct? Well he said he drove through the night, or all night, or something to that effect. Well in reality to its like a 4 hr drive Frim bridgeport, not even that Long if your driving st night and your daughter is missing so u would obviously drive as fast as possible.

Why wasn't Fred concerned when she didn't call him at 8 like she was supposed to? How coke there's no record of him trying to call? Why wasn't he a lil more concerned when he got a call from The cops the next day? He said he got it at 3-4 iirc, did he not listen to the message or something? Why wasn't he on his way up Nh on tues night?

Idk, there's a whole lot of things that fred did that really doesnt make sense

Jenky,

Good points for sure. The statement that fred made to police seemed to leave for more questions then it did actually clear up anything. But that is a matter for interpretation.

I have only found one reference of a specific used car that they had "Supposedly" picked out for Maura (2001 Geo Storm). And that was in maribeth conway's five-parter on maura going missing.

People from the mass area have said that it is impossible to just go out and purchase a car off a lot. that it takes at least a week to get all the paperwork and things done and this may be why she didn't get a car right then.

I will say that where I live, you want a car you drive it right off the lot, no matter if its new or used. So I had never heard that before.

Also,(assuming she could get a car the same day) why didn't they take her car to the lots they visited. Wouldn't they be looking to trade-in? Surely, they weren't keeping her saturn as well.

Thanks for the compliment on the research.:)

The very fact that Fred didn't wake up Maura tells me she probably was expected to stay the night there, or at least, it wasn't that unusual for her to have done such a thing.
What would tell me that she was expected to stay the night would be he got a room with two beds. That would be the first clue :)

Whoever said you can't buy a car and drive it off the same lot in mass us just plain wrong. I remember this coming up about a month ago, iirc, a couple people said that but then a few other people posted that they actually did it personally.

I bought my girl a Subaru outback, we went to the dealer, paid cash and drove it off the lot the same day.
Whoever said you can't do that is just wrong and idk where they got that from, perhaps they were theorizing that you can't do that?

Jenkins - I'd imagine car sales is a very emotional buy. Meaning the dealership would do everything in their power to make sure you can buy a car that day.

It doesn't mean that FM was obligated to buy a car that day.

Who would benefit from Maura's car being further damaged while at NHSP impound lot?

I can't imagine this would in anyway benefit family as dozens of pictures of Maura's car have been taken indicating the extent of the damage at the time of her disappearance.

Wow dude, that's is a truly horrible thing to say.

Interesting u say it's a key ingredient, I would agree, some sort of hard liquor would be required.
But Maura only took a bottle of kahlua so that would mean she most likely didn't go for a squaw walk right?
