Sometimes I like to lurk and read here at the Bob Jenkins forum and see if anything NEW has been added concerning the missing college student Maura Murray.
Reminds of when I read The Stand by Stephen King. Hundreds of pages of minutia that took me so far from the story line. Finished the book out of sheer will power and really have had a hard time reading him ever since. Maybe it's my fault, I have a short attention span, but, Seriously Jenky, you need to hire an editor!
I was once known to be long on patience, but Topix has brought me to my knees and then to pounding the earth after reading posts over years....half the years that some have lurked and written. Even worse, Topix has sharpened my frustration level, and I have less tolerance for inane comments and stupidity in the real world. It's the nature and dynamic of the Topix community, I believe, to be argumentative and contrary. They have found a unique niche in the market, and the judging buttons reinforce that hook.

I think it is very possible that MM was scared and might have suffered a panic attack. When people are going through a panic attack most rational sense is lost.
In one of the ID shows a girl who went missing suffered a panic attack and ran into a deep thicket and it took months or a year for LE and searchers to find her. The thicket was in Long Island and wasn't even that big. When her body was found no one knew how why she was so determined to enter the thicket. However the last person who saw her said she was showing signs of a panic attack and took off running.
It sure makes sense to me.

Its ok.. I coulda gotten it to you without havin to know ur real name :).. I sent a bunch out to my friends in NY.. I was gonna send a VA Dogwood, its a Beautiful tree! The blossoms are real beautiful... Idk if it would live in ur weather or not though..
I guess what we call Maples arent real Maples if they dont have the syrup right?? I know all the old timers that were outside when we were planting them reffered to them as "Tulip Trees" due to their beautiful pinkish blossoms but I asked about it cus I know tulips are flowers & they told me they are Maples, just a down south reference to them.. On the Discovery channel I seen a bunch of the ones with surup, a whole forest full, in Vermont & they had these bucket looking things on them to catch the syrup!!! I bet it would be great to have some fresh out the bucket & use to eat!! Thats kinda like the bee keepers here, the fresh honey is amazing!!!
It's very generous of you to share the trees with your friends. There are several different types of maples, red maple, silver maple, rock maple, sugar maple etc. As far as I know the only one that produces sap for syrup is the sugar maple. The sap that is collected is boiled down to make the syrup. It takes lots of sap to make a gallon of syrup.
Thanks again for your kind offer.

I also don't think loading your car up with alchol and going on a road trip where chances are she was probably drinking and driving as rational.
I also don't understand after crashing a car in the middle of no where anyone would want to leave their car - thats not rational.
I also don't think its rational to drink at a party and then at 2:30 AM get in a car to go see your father - to me thats not rational.
I don't know how you can use a "that's ridiculous" defense when explaining MM going into the woods.
And again I have mentioned this before and I'll say it again. I think it is ridiculous to think MM would have got into a car with a stranger. Any female knows not to get into a car with a stranger. I'm willing to bet if people her age were asked option A. Get into car with stranger or B. go into woods and sober up for a couple of hours I bet 90% take option B.
I totally agree. Many of her actions leading up to and after the accident were not rational IMO.

Jenkins has totally ruined any interest I may have had in this forum.

I literally cringe at the endless long rambling posts that repeat the same thing over and over and over and over. Same points, same ridiculous premises, same theories based on non-truths and same spin to satisfy his position.

I honestly don't know what is worse, jenkins on topic or the endless political ads that spew the same crap.

It's a toss up.

Good luck to you all, I wish you the best on the jerky jenkins forum.

Your welcome & thank you for the info about Northern culture!! Also, you'd be surprised at how much it means to someone in Brooklyn to have a tree!! They guard it like a car... They buy them 30-50 gallon pots & keep them near their own personal stoops.. Then somehow they drag them way out for Earth Day.. Its sad actually to a degree..

I have always been a very cautious person. Would never accept a ride from a stranger so I thought. One weekend while searching for Maura my sister and I walked to the store. We came out of the store and it was pouring really hard. A stranger offered us a ride and we accepted. We picked option A and then realized once in the vehicle we did not make a smart decision. Obviously this guys true intentions was to help us out because he brought us to our destination.

I'm 32, so I think Maura was only four years younger than me. I was raised with the whole "stranger danger" thing too. But when I was around 22 or 23 I did get into the car with a stranger because I got lost in an unfamiliar area and was scared. I had not been drinking and I did think about the dangers and figured my odds of getting into the car with this guy who offered me a ride were better than continuing to be lost in an area where I knew no one. I also thought that if anything happened I could fight the guy off. Yes, this was stupid, but when you're young and scared you aren't always logical.

I would wholeheartedly believe that Maura got into the car with a stranger. The only thing that makes me wonder is the sighting by the construction worker. Citigirl I know you spoke to a lot of people up there, did you ever speak to him? Do you believe it is was Maura that he saw or no?

If Maura really did run that far down the road then that changes my opinion about if she might be in the woods. After running all that way, scared, maybe having been drinking, and not dressed appropriately for the elements, then hypothermia isn't out of the question in my opinion.

Jesus bob. Are you really that big a dolt. As long as the snow was 8 inches high. If it was as solid as it was on the day of the accident, not weeks later. That is all it would take to keep Maura from opening her door and needing to squeeze out. Her needing to squeeze out the door only means the door couldn't open wide. Not how high the snow was.
While I have no doubt you'll be spewing posts (I won't have the time or interest to read) anyways, I'm afraid I'll be busy here so won't answer for a while. But please, ramble on. I'll get back to you when I can.
If you want to do something productive in the meantime. Please point to these statements that can be verified about the conditions on the ground, before and during the night of Maura's run away. Not weeks later watching Billy stomp around in the snow. You are saying that the police and others are talking about the conditions on 2/9. Lets see them.
Someone who lives in that area says that there were actually areas with bare spots at that time. But, please, lets hear your evidence.
Bill
Lol, someone in the area told you that??
And why should we believe that over lt scarinza, the sbd and all news reports at the time the place the snow depth at 2.5'?
Why would I possibly believe that over my own memory which remembers about 2-3' in the area?

Scarinza said there was 2.5' of snow on the ground, it's quoted above.
Both scarinza and lt Bruno both of the NHSP said that "conditions couldn't be better for tracking" and conditions were "perfect for tracking". Respectively.
There had just been fresh snowfall so the conditions were soft snow that was perfect for tracking.
Also the wmur video of billy in the woods was about 10 days later, the snow was clearly deep and fluffy.

So why should we believe some anonymous Internet poster saying "some guy told me" over NHSP lieutenants that have spoken on record about it? Why should we believe this over the sbd and all other news reports?

Can you find one news report that gives a different depth of snow? Cuz everything I've seem says 2.5' and conditions were perfect for tracking, meaning the snow was soft.

So can you find one news report, legitimate quote, anything that says the snow was only 8" deep and hard like late season snow?

Otherwise I'm gonna have to call bullshit, because clearly what your saying directly contradicts all known, legitimate info on the subject.

Ohhh some guy told you? Great source of information buddy

Oh ya and as for your 8" snowbank billshit, can you show me one article that indicates that is correct? Just one??

All reports say that she squeezed out from between the snowbank and her car. You don't squeeze between and 8" snowbank and your car. Again, that directly contradicts what's been said b witnesses.

Let me guess, some guy told you. Lol, ya, some guy told some anonymous Internet poster...so it MUST be true. Lol, come on dude

Keep telling yourself that buddy, does it make you feel better??
You act like your the only guy in the world who jas a lot of experience outdoors in the winter in NH, it's laughable actually. Nope, I don't back country ski all the time, I don't hike tuckermans every year, I don't hike and snowshoe all the time in the winter, I've never been winter camping, nope, no one does any of that stuff except big bad bill. Lol, get a grip buddy
You clearly try to pass yourself off as some winter weather/outdoors expert, you talk a good game I'll give you that.

I have seen people run off into the woods, personally. I saw a busload of people run off into the woods once on one of the worst snow storms we had at night in CT after a bus crash. Funny story. So don't tell me that people don't run off into the woods after car accidents into the snow dressed in any conceivable footwear or apparel. I have seen it.
Bill
Ummm??? Really? You've seen a whole bus load of people run into the woods??? I find that very unbelievable, and based off the fact that your making up facts about the snowfall I'm gonna have to call bullshit.
When did this happen? Why did they run into the woods? How much snowfall was there?
Why possible reason would a whole bus load of people run into the woods for? Shit makes no sense

Jenkins, I'm going to keep trying here. If you're right and Bill is wrong, then what? Or if you're wrong and Bill is right, so what? None of us can get into Maura's head to know what she did or didn't do, so why keep bickering? What can you or Bill do that LE hasn't already done to investigate? Is there an end to the number of years you are willing to wave this flag? Just wondering.

Actually, more than one person ruined my emotional connection to Maura's disappearance. Ugly retaliation in the form of threats, outings and personal insults may be typical Topix behavior, but that doesn't fly in real life. To his credit, Jenkins hasn't lashed out against others in that manner. I trust you'll return, even after your sign-off. We all do.:)

This is probably one of the best questions I've seen asked in a long time, and with it you make a really great point.

Is there anything bill or I or anybody can do that LE hasn't already? I don't think there is.

The way I see it is the only thing people can do from a forum like topix is to keep the story alive, keep it in the media, a least somewhat.

I think it's pretty clear that if it wasn't or these forums this story would've been forgotten about by the media a long time ago

We agree that the story is kept alive by the active Topix and WS forums, even if the repetition can be frustrating at times.
