All good, if something's funny, it's funny. This thread can not hurt to have a lil humor mixed in.
Honestly I think all the different uses of the name Jenkins you've come up w are pretty fkn funny; jenkovese crime family?! That's hilarious. Jenkovian, jenkinstorm, funny shit right there. I'm not one to take shit personally, especially from some anonymous kid on the Internet.
And Can we add Dr. Jenovorkian to the name list? You know the Dr. who euthanizes people using words, lots or words.

Not really, snow does a great job at reflecting heat due to its all white color. It's gotta be fairly warm for the snow to actually start melting. Apparently it was 12 degrees out earlier that day & there was a warming trend early evening that brought the temp up to aroun 32, which still isn't warm enough to melt the snow.
Snow that is 2.5' deep reflects sunlight well and it insulates itself well too.
Also when there's 2.5 of snow it's not gonna really ever freeze solid enough to be able to walk on without leaving tracks. That would be extremely rare that much snow would freeze solid.
Basically if it did get really warm, or rain, a crust would form on top of the snow, sometimes it seems like you'd be able to walk on it but I've never actually experienced snow that deep getting that solid in all my winters in NH. That's what 'postholing' that bill described a few months back is. When the top is crusty and you break through. This is the absolute worst condition of snow to walk through, it's extremely difficult and rather painful.
But from what LE has said in the media we know the conditions weren't like that. There was fresh snowfall that they said was perfect for tracking someone. Scarinza went so far as to say conditions couldn't be better for leaving tracks. Bruno also stated that tracks were prevalent out there but none connected to Maura.
Also there is the footage of billy walking through a field of snow filmed about 10 days after the accident where the snow is clearly still fluffy and he's sinking in Rather deep. Once snow has crusted over like that it'll never go back to being light and fluffy again. Snow could fall on it but apparently that didn't happen. When Bruno is describing the conditions he's talking about conditions about 10 days later, thursday of the following week when they went out for another search just to be sure they covered all the ground twice. LE actually got pretty lucky to have conditions like that so they can say with a fair amount of certainty that she isn't in the woods, which is exactly what they said.
Would you agree that if the snow was really deep that it would be harder to dispose of a body, especially without leaving tracks to the place where it was buried?

At one time I was also going to compute the number of posts from certain individuals, but don't love math enough to figure the percentages and plot them on a graph. I'm glad Bill did it for us.

I've always had a few points to make....succinctly:

1) Maura's family has the most intimate knowledge of her life prior to her disappearance, and and they have shared limited information with the public. I neither defend nor challenge that position today; it is their prerogative.

2) Like Bill, and others, I do challenge information that passes 2nd and 3rd hand by Topix posters who have claimed a close relationship to Maura's "family" if that information is embellished and/or unsupported as facts.

3) No one is going to solve Maura's disappearance on Topix.

4) I have a very low tolerance for people making up shit.

5) I was the first to express frustration with Jenkin's posts. To my way of thinking, they are matched only by Peri's posts and thought processes.

As I said a day ago, I take this Topix experience into my everyday life. I really have a low tolerance for stupidity now, and flights of fancy, and overlooking the obvious, and illogical arguments.
If anyone is in such an unfortunate place as to have a missing relative, I wouldn't ever encourage conversations in this venue.

Yes I agree 100%, very difficult to dispose of a body in winter in NH. Actually hard to dispose of a body any time as bill has made clear, but particularly difficult in winter.

But remember, that's never stopped any of these sick fucks before. It's always hard to dispose of a body and yet people get killed every day

You seem like a good hearted person and I don't mean to be confrontational. I have such a hard time believing if you really, really thought your cousin was abducted (chances are enetering a vehicle on her own power) then why afterwards in the same town with a "killer" still not being found why would you and your sister do the same thing?
A very good question and one I've wondered about since citigirl stated it.

Just popped back in to see what was happening. Over an eight hour period Bobby has posted an astounding 21 posts. And as usual not posts, monologues. He peaked with 4 posts in one hour. An average of 2.6 posts an hour, over an 8 hour period. Starting around 10PM he ran this marathon until around 5AM. And that isn't to imply that he wasn't posting before that, he was. Bobby are you certain your not manic?
Too bad he never seems to hit the other side of manic. A depressed Jenkins might be a sane Jenkins.

Respectfully - I think point #1 can be debated as to what is their "perogative" and what isn't. I have mentioned before that we don't live in a clan justice system. I find it very frustrating for someone to go on TV and bad mouth LE, and when questions are asked about MM's private life are asked the questioned go unanswered.
LE can't defend themsleves or speak of any information discovered in this case - so they have to sit back and watch themselves have their reputation's questioned as an "inside job" "botched investigation" - We don't know if LE is right or wrong. The only information that comes out comes out in a controlled fashion. Since not all information that has been uncovered hasn't came out from family - what they wanted you to know or think has been manipulated. I'm not saying they are wrong in doing so, but no one can argue that the information was manipulated as to what we should know or not know.
In my opinion whether related to MM or not people have the right to request justice. If someone feels that too much information is being with held then they should have the right to ask. Not saying they need to be answered but they do have a right to ask.

But you would say that the snow would decrease the "opportunity" factor in an arguement of crime of opportunity.

Actually no they don't. At least not in NH. 18 murders in NH in 2004. So it doesn't even happen every 10 or 15 days. In New Hampshire it happens about every 20.28 days on average. And it's rarer in the the North Country. Oh in case you ask. Those are the FBI statistics. Easy to find if you need to. Unlike some of your references.

And out of those 18 murders how many of the victims didn't know the murderer?

I don't have that statistic. But, we all know in 95% of murders the murdered is known by the murderer. Police don't immediately start by looking at family and friends by accident. And the closer you are to the victim the closer you are scrutinized. Statistically, that would be less than one of those was a stranger on stranger murder.

Umm did I say people didn't get murdered every day. No, they just certainly don't get murdered in New Hampshire every day which is true. Since that is the state I am concerned with, the state that Maura was last seen. What I said is more accurate, and more germane to our conversation.

Oh, I agree, Lighthouse. Completely. In my previous post, I just chose to tread more lightly.
It's unusual, even if accounting for variances by the nature of grief and loss, that a family would be unwilling to bring forward more accurate information if appealing to, and/or engaging the public in the disappearance of their loved one.
This is not a judgment, as much as a comparison to other missing persons in the news.

That's a really good question. I don't think there's a definite answer to it that would apply to all cases.

You gotta remember that if we're talking about a murderer we're already talking about some sick bastard that may not care that it's more difficult to get rid of a body. Somebody like that could drive around for years waiting for an opportunity like that to come up. That could've been like a once in a lifetime opportunity for some sick fuck and when the opportunity finally comes up they would probably take it even though it would b more difficult to dispose of the body.

And you could also look at it the other way too, the Snow would make it harder to dispose of a body yes, but it also provides that much more of an opportunity in that it's way more likely some girl would take a ride than she would under normal conditions. If its summer a girl might just want to walk the miles or hide in the woods whereas in the winter when there's 2.5' of snow on the ground & she's already shivering she'd probably take the ride.

What?????????? Are you sure??????????

This will be sad news for a few people here who like to wag their fingers at those of us who occasionally go off topic when nothing else is being said anyway.

I mean, look at all the brilliant theories that have been posted since I last logged on. We have a choice of Jenkins being the killer on his way to school in Burlington or someone hiding the body in a frozen lake while ice fishing. Previously there was the Chicago mafia theory, which is my favorite.(Thinking of changing my moniker to Sticky Fingers Valentino.)

I dunno..... I think we are right on the verge of solving this thing on topix if only people would stop talking about the Waffle House and asking if everyone is ok when a storm hits.

LOL! What about the Romney theory?? Going to be weird for me as a guest speaker with others & him at his Victory Rally collecting bottled water & canned foods on Thursday in Roanoke... Im only doing it for the collection of essentials for those affected by the storm & the free press exposure..

Does this mean I can't share a fresh blackberry pie with a few of my friends here when it comes out of the oven? Lordy it would be awful if I had to eat it all myself.
