Judged: 2 2 2 You guys sound like a bunch of negative hillbillys. I was just telling you what I found and where. It turned out it was a flip phone mm had. But wow! I'm an intelligent person. I can see why Fred wants nothing to do with all of this. Good luck |

Looking a the user manual I can´t find anything indicating there is a red light feature on it. It is indeed a flip phone. At least we now the phone nhlover and friend found was not Maura´s. Thank you nhlover for telling. I´m sorry if I sounded negative. Not directed at you. |
Judged: 3 3 3 Cynical person, huh? Had nothing to do with a mystery. If you had read the whole post you would have seen that he wasn't thinking of mm, he had just found a phone. Period. It was only after the whole thing I began to think it may have something to do with it. Please try to be nicer on these forums. People who come here tend to care about this case and what the outcome is. If you "don't care enough" to check something out, as you stated, then maybe you should move on in life and find something you do care about. It's ashame that an attitude has to come towards a person just trying to help. Also if you had read, I did contact other people regarding the phone. No one followed up with me. Which is why i have little faith that they will solve this. Here in Colorado they followed up on over 5000 leads to find the murderer of a little girl, in about 2 weeks. EVERY lead is important when you are stalled in an investigation. |

According to the manual the only thing that has any color light is the charger. See page 26 in the manual.
So. What was it that FW saw? Maybe a different cell phone that had a red light? |

Ok. I admit to being a hillbilly. But not a negative one. |

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwne... "What Is The Flashing Light On My SPH-A620 And How Do I Change It? The flashing light on the phone is a Service LED, which has the following functions: Lights red while charging. Green when charging is complete. Flashes to indicate an incoming call or message. Lights momentarily when you power up the phone and flashes red when the phone is in need of a charge. To change or disable the service light follow the steps below: While in standby mode, press the left soft key for Menu Select Settings (8) Select Display (1) Select Service Light (7) Highlight On or Off and press OK Note: The flashing light is the Service Light which blinks when the A620 is in range of the network. By default, this feature is set to Off. If the light is flashing on your handset it can also drain battery power." |

Nothing but hillbillies here. |

What page in the user manual? I´m looking at it right now and can´t find the text you´re quoting inspite of searching using the term "light" |

From the manual:
A red light on the charger lets you know the battery is charging. The light that indicates the phone is chargeing is on the charger, not the phone. |
Click on the link I included - it is not the manual, it is a FAQ on the Samsung site. In the manual, it is page 18, but it is not the same quote as I posted above, but here is some more info: "If a Travel Charger is used to charge the battery, a red light is displayed when the flip is closed. When the flip is open, an animated battery icon is displayed on the screen. When the battery is completely charged, a green light is displayed continuously." |

Answering my own question: page 90 in the manual. "The LED flashes to alert of an incoming call". There was no reception in the area, so Maura could not have received a call or text at the time FW saw the red light.

Thanks, Maruchan. The info on the travel charger is in the manual, page 26.
The flashing LED light is mentioned on page 90, as an event indicator. Only problem: with no cell phone reception, Msura could not have been making or receiving any calls. Would the red light from a phone charger inside the car be visible from FW´s position? |

Checked another version of the manual, here p 90 info is on p 27...

You appear to be completely ignoring the link I posted. I have an LG phone that does the same thing the Samsung does. When the battery is low and I plug it into the charger, it has a bright red light on when the flip is closed on the front of the phone, which changes to green when it is fully charged. From Whitman-Hanson Express: "Maura also packed a cell phone charger and a Samsung travel adapter for her cell phone." So, if her battery was low, and she plugged it into the cigarette lighter to charge it so she could make a call, then there would be a continuous red light on the phone. |

Page 20, manual downloaded from samsung.com :
The LED flashing to indicate an event is not a flashing red light, it´s the LED lit screen that lights up. |
Sweden |
So, should we conclude FW saw the red light from the travel charger?

Sorry Maruchan, if I appeared to be ignoring your link. I read it, but was trying to find a reference in the manual as I wanted to know exactly where that light was positioned. I´ve had several Samsung phones and none of them had any red lights. The light must have been from the charger as there was no reception in the area. |
