If hit and run I would be looking for updates on the guy I, or my friend, might have killed. So confusing. There was reportedly a phone inquiry to the hospital about Vasi the night (morning) he was adnitted. The caller was reportedly a woman.

One thing to note: Very important detail. Police insist there is something to the phone call between maura and her sister. I got that from doing research and hearing from family and family spokespeople such as peabody. Police are using the fact that maura said "My Sister" when the supervisor confronted her about what was upsetting her, coupled with the two interviews police did with marua's sister in question and maura's boyfriend in which police felt like both the sister and maura's boyfriend were being deceptive with them.

If I were actively investigating, however, that would be what I would go on and I would assume that police already are well aware of whom that phone number belonged too.

Orko Kringer wrote: Jenky, Police did not discover the person maura was trying to get a hold of (to return lab jacket) until close to a year later. And they told family the reason they weren't able to discover the person's idenity is because they had "liklely moved on" from the dorms before they got a chance to get a hold of them. That is the exact same quote people are using to attribute to the police concerning the upsetting phone call maura received the night she was working that police haven't identified that person yet because they had likely moved on from the dorms. Only one article I know of incorrectly ties the two together and assumes the police are talking about an upsetting phone call (which there is no proof there ever was one) that they are trying to trace from the night maura had her meltdown at work. If there was indeed a real call that police were trying to trace from that thursday night ... why has there only been one article in over eight years to mention it? If LE traced a call to a specific dorm they could easily find out who was staying in that dorm regardless if they moved on.

Once again: And Note the date of this article. Hanson Express, Nov 24, 2004 "According to Sharon Rausch, the mother of Maura's fiance Billy Rausch, the last two calls made from Maura's cell phone (on Monday) were to a UMass number and to a couple who is part of a condo association in the area of New Hampshire where Murray appeared headed. The UMass number is pretty much a dead end for investigators, since the person who lived in the room Maura called in February has most likely moved on."

Habs wrote: <quoted text> Do we really wanna go there? I've always wondered about that but no one ever talks about it. Sure, why not. Here is word for word, Sharon Rausch, Maura's boyfriend's mother: from an excerpt from a journal she kept as this case was just starting. Sharon Rausch: "We have been told by the police that Maura received or made a phone call on her cell phone at 1:00 AM on Friday, February 6th while she was on duty at her security job on the first floor of her dorm (The police and subsequently the media refer to this call as the “Thursday night” call that upset Maura). This was the Friday before Maura disappeared. It was reported to us that this call upset Maura to the point that she was crying hysterically and had to be assisted to her dorm room by her supervisor......... Kathleen always insisted that she never talked to Maura at that time. The NH police emphatically told Kathleen they knew better and told the media that the family was withholding information. In fact, when Maura’s cell phone bill arrived, it showed the last call during the time in question to be Thursday, February 5th at approximately 10:00 PM for 20 minutes to Kathleen. Kathleen concurred that she and Maura had talked at this time. But she insists that Maura was not crying, upset or speaking of any problem. I can't imagine how scared and upset Kathleen must have been sitting there being questioned by the police, her sister has vanished in a very remote area...I sat with Kathleen and discussed this call many months later...I watched her still, then trying to remember anything she said that may have upset Maura...whatever Maura was upset about (regardless of what she told the supervisor) I don't believe it was that call at 10:00 p.m. I can't find the article that mentions the time of the call, either, but can verify from Maura's cell phone records that Kathleen did not call her cell after the earlier call. What was always curious to me was why it took police so long to verify the call and so little to verify the Maura/Red Cross call. I know that police were given all of the information about Maura's cell phone within the first couple of days.”

I believe Beagle was the one who originally posted this. Reportedly. Not fact. But interesting if true. We have the name of the RN who was said to have taken the call, so it would be possible to verify if this call even happened.

"moved on" is such a vague, dismissive term, and a cop-out, imo, for such a critical piece of information. seems the dorm and residents could be traced back. the harder part would be to prove exactly who used the phone.

Regardless if the person has moved on. Umass Amherst must keep records of phone numbers and who stayed in what rooms. I do have a copy of Mauras cell phone records. Could you please give me the link as to where you are seeing these calls you claim for Feb.9,2004? tHANK YOU.

Orko Kringer wrote: Jenky, here you go and take a close look at the dates of these articles. Feb 27, 2004 ---- Caledonian Record "There also is the mysterious phone call Murray received while working as a security person at a residence hall at the UMass Amherst campus Feb. 5. The call reportedly reduced Murray to tears and her supervisor had to take her home because she was so distraught. UMass Detective Davies said his department has been able to track the phone call. “We know the location,”; Davies said.“We have not been able to identify to whom she was speaking. Her friends have no idea who called her." And then just a few days later: Boston Globe March 2, 2004 "Investigators have determined the origin of an unusual telephone call that Murray received a few nights before she fled the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. The conversation upset her so much that she had to be escorted from her job to her dorm room. The call, according to UMass police Lieutenant Robert Thrasher, came from one of Murray's two sisters. But Thrasher said police have yet to receive an explanation of what was so upsetting." Orko? Was it one of the sisters or Billy?
