I should also point out that for the most part. Those hemorrhoids almost never show up any more. But the damage that they have done continues and may be irreparable. They likely did tremendous damage with their accusations to the locals and caused any cooperation that was forthcoming in the start of this investigation to stop entirely. No one wanted any part of possibly being raked over the coals in a public forum. So anyone with any sense said nothing. If they had any sense the didn't even admit seeing someone miles away that night who appeared to be a young woman trying to hide as she went along the road. That is right. He was crucified on the forums for a considerable period. Until those others eventually left. But of course the SBD seemed to bear the brunt of the abuse.

I think the last known to see/talk with Maura as far as the locals was the bus driver. He moved to FL and has since passed away.. I don't believe any other locals were involved.

I don't believe any other locals were involved. Unless you consider those that didn't go outside to check and watched from the safety and warmth of their homes somehow responsible. Some did and stated such. Or that someone didn't remember that they saw a woman walking miles away for several days not mentioning it somehow responsible. Some did and accused him of more possible involvement. And one person in particular insisted that Maura was brought for nefarious purposes aboard the school bus while the rest of the family either apparently participated or at a minimum looked the other way while whatever happened, happened. Just the shear stupidity of such a comment should have had everyone screaming and yelling, but it didn't from many. And of course Fred's attitude that he was on a holy quest so that he should have been able to look where and whenever he wanted didn't ingratiate him or his cause to the locals either. In memory of SBD, someone pilloried by a few for doing something decent. And in particular, for no apology when it seemed clear to anyone with a minimally working brain that he had nothing to do with her disappearance. Bill

it is a clever ruse, especially after so many years, to insist that Maura's name be kept in the public view....and, in particular, on NH/Topix.... when, in fact, NH/Topix has been used as a vehicle to promote theories to strongly implicate local residents and authorities from the state of NH. partial thoughts, incomplete phrasing and unsupported 'facts' are recorded here to comprise this systematic attack against the public and authorities...blaming and shaming while diverting attention away from information and facts held closely by the very people who have tried to manipulate the public's view about Maura's disappearance. it's all so very strange. nearly stranger than the mystery of her actual disappearance.

Hi all,SBD believed he saw Maura Murray in the saturn near the weathered barn and stopped to help .Whether it was Maura Murray with the saturn is still unknown.Whether Maura left Amherst is still unknown.I used to think Helena Murray was being fed what to say by Mr Murray when Amherst was 'deemed not important'.I think I know why Amherst and Mauras' prior life was not to be looked at and it makes me sick.Still waiting to hear why we are not allowed to know about Mauras' prior life and why any video of Maura has not been seen by the Murray family.take care philip

I conclude area residents shouldn't be criticized on here for their lack of help when there appears to be no involvement other than the bus driver, whose help she refused...

thank you. and some would vigorously argue that he was tortured, online, for his efforts to offer assistance.

Some have said he never read this forum, I believe it was WW that told me that. Do you know for sure he read this forum? This is something I have wondered since coming to this topix site. For the record, it does not make the accusations acceptable or excusable by any means. But conflicting information whether he actually read the forums or did he even use the internet?

the damage done to the SBD is not mitigated by whether he read directly, or learned, indirectly, of the smear campaign perpetrated against him. nor does it matter that he was once alive, and is now dead. the damage is done. clearly, there is not a moral exclusion to assume your position.

what does SBD stand for? the bus driver?

I have no position. I think accusing someone without a valid reason is wrong. I wanted to find out the truth if he read the forum or not. If you don't no the answer to that, that's fine, just say so.

WTF-the-original wrote: <quoted text> Your location is listed as St. J. If you live in St. J. then you don't live in that area. If you did you would realize how easy it is for someone to disappear and how close someone who is lost can actually be and not seen. Search for a piece of clothing or even something the size of a human body and you will realize very quickly that the world is a very big place and not everything has asphalt over it and many areas are not flat. Finding something can be a very daunting task for those that have actually gone and searched. I looked for a jet aircraft (Learjet) for a couple of weekends. It was searched for on land and by air and was never found during all those searches. It was finally located years later, by accident. Things disappear and they can disappear very easily, especially people. The only people that don't know that are people that have never searched for anything or anyone. In memory of SBD Bill I too searched for the Lear jet that was eventually found in Dorchester on I believe Smarts MT. by a surveyor. I gave up on Black hill in Wentwoth, close but not close enough. I studied wind speed and direction reports and any info possible. I came to the conclusion as thick as the woods are you would almost have to step on it. I found a plane in Henniker NH years ago and it was just a fluke I caught a glimmer off a piece of metal. People have to go to Bridgewater to really get a handle on how dense it is and there is wetlands, quarries and tight thick rolling hills as well as boulder's and earth depressions that can easily hide a person. When one considers how many large animals die on the woods yearly and how rare it is too see remains even for hardcore hikers. It puts a realty factor on the likely hood of finding human remains. I thinks ones best hope is too look for clothing or her backpack if she is indeed in the woods. The second big problem is WHERE to begin, if we believe CW, than Maura could be anywhere in a vast stretch of wilderness. I think you have as good a chance of hitting the lottery as finding Maura in those woods.
