A certain sadness about it. I nearly died in the north country area at 2:30 a.m.,3 or 4 years ago on that severe bend in Fort Covington. That entire Franklin County area has a lot of history and much tragedy including Lake Champlain area. An early war zone, it's as though the lake had been created from tears. Really. at times it seems your speaking of jkm..Now with Constable your talking keyes..So your not really sure?

I have driven that area twice on my bike the last two years and the folks are just nuts in the way that they drive up there. I mean like nothing I have ever seen. Not sure how this relates to maura? Please help us

Ridiculous wrote: "I stayed in Youth Hostels and met amazing people from all over the world. Back packers are by nature a fairly eclectic group. It was during this time that I became the unwitting participant in an accidental social experiment that reminds me of this thread on Topix. I was working as the assistant manager of a Youth Hostel right outside of Seattle Washington. It was late in the year and the season was almost over. Foreign travelers were pretty scarce so we decided to book anyone who seemed reasonably acceptable as we needed the income." Ridiculous, And what exactly, may I ask, did those sacrificial years of mystical revelations lead you to believe in terms of moral ethics? I loved the west coast, that adorable little tea shop in downtown Portland and then of course Cannon Beach. Flying my kite on the beach at Lincoln City... Talk about needing a syringe of haldol & cogentin....just to bring me back to earth! Those were the times, for sure. Youth hostels....talk about drama queens.... Flipping the hair, those pocket combs. Emotional labile, and all for naught, right? Sounds like you had some experiences that left you alive. Good for you. Too bad there are not more like you. Really.

Have some confidence...please.... Don't whine so... Trying pinching yourself, maybe give out a little scream to ensure you're still alive. You seem to suffer a disease of the soul.

Maybe you should chat with Beagle for a little reassurance. Beagle, I'm quite sure, knows there is no such fellow as the boogey man.

With due respect, I have to disagree somewhat with you. Fear is not an artificial wall; knowing when to be afraid and therefore take the necessary precautions has kept the human species alive for hundreds of thousands of years. Assuming that anyone can walk anywhere at any time in complete safety is a pipedream. It has never been that way, and from what the world shows us every day it is likely it never will be. Don't be disabled by it -- be ready because of it.
