Aftermath,
Sacrificial years of mystical revelations?! For Gods sake, I wasn't in the Desert With Geraldo doing Peyote or hanging with Kerouac and the Dharma bums getting sloshed and seeking existential knowledge.Heck, I only live a few hours ride from Walden pond. If I want to be a pretentious ass and pretend that I am the first to live off of the land and commune with nature and transcend my human plight, I can grab a six pack of Sammy's, get naked, and wallow around in the shallows awaiting my moral ethic awakening, or, and pardon my crassness here, I can step into my back yard, right next to the wood pile and piss on my very favorite pee pee tree. There is a certain clarity that comes from this form of connectedness to nature and I'm sure many of my esteemed, and worldly neighbors will concur. Almost a transcending of the bonds of the industrial worlds enslavement to indoor plumbing, if you will.

I always wonder when people make a comment like this. Do they also fear hammers, refrigerators, knifes? Maybe they fear jackhammers or other things that make loud noises. I mean they would have to fear cars, certainly cars, those kill as many or more people every year than guns. I mean how many inanimate objects do you fear or hate? If I remember I use to scare you also. Seems like a lot of things scare you. Clue us in granny, if you aren't too afraid to answer.

Some people are very strange.

JWB,
Please try not to be so kind. You sound like some victim trying to recover from moral neutrality or something worse. Have some confidence...please.... Don't whine so... Trying pinching yourself, maybe give out a little scream to ensure you're still alive. You seem to suffer a disease of the soul.
Based on the meds you say you took ( parkinsons) I was honestly trying to be kind. I don't get the swipe from you at all. whatever

Sorry to dissapoint you that I don't like guns Bill, but that is the way it is. There are many people that don't like guns. I really don't have to explain to you why. However, thank you for your interest in my likes and dislikes.

Wowzer,
Surely, you do not harbor some neurotic fear of the boogey man. I expected more from you. Maybe you should chat with Beagle for a little reassurance. Beagle, I'm quite sure, knows there is no such fellow as the boogey man.
Nope. I said I think he's here among us. I never said I was afraid of him.

Of course you don't. I was just wondering if your hatred was rational. Like I suspected, it isn't. So I would think by your logic when a drunk driver kills someone, you then hate cars or is it the alcohol, I sometimes get confused as to what inanimate objects we are supposed to hate. Sounds very rational to me. Glad we sorted this out.

Let's stop this damn arguing and say a prayer for the children and others that have been killed and for the families that have lost their children. As I watch this tragedy I can't stop crying. So young

My Children are the best thing I've ever done in my life! They surpass me already in every way and I could not survive the loss of either of them. They are innocent little souls that didn't ask to come to this earth. There is a very special place in Hell for the monster that did this!

Ya know ... there are probably hundreds of guns in the community and area around that school. And you know what? None of them did anything at all. The only guns that did anything were the ones at the end of THIS INDIVIDUAL'S TRIGGER FINGER. It's the PERSON behind the gun that is dangerous, not the gun.

Or to put it another way, this guy could have NOT used a gun and burned the school down instead or blown it up with a pipebomb or driven a truck into the classroom. Those who want to commit murder will find A WAY, guns or not.

The worse part of this is that in the aftermath, when we should be talking about why this could happen. No one will talk about how we have turned every school in the country into a free fire zone. We have guaranteed that not one individual who is allowed to legally possess a firearm is allowed to carry it, in a school. So any individual who wants to kill, and get the highest body count possible. The best opportunity to do it, is at a school, in particular an elementary school. And while the police will do what they can. Their first order of business is to try to control the scenes perimeter, not go into the school. Then wait until enough officers are there to go into the school without having them picked off, one by one or for a specially trained unit to go in. So how many minutes does anyone think this takes? What do you think is going on in the school in the meantime? It's not the cops fault, there is only so much that can be done, without getting all of them killed one by one also. But the person inside being shot at, they know who is shooting, their lives are being sacrificed for a social experiment. No person legally able to possess a firearm are allowed in schools with their firearm. Doesn't seem to be preventing the ones doing illegal things though. And they seem to know that. Oh, and anyone who thinks these stupid "lockdown" procedures does anything except make them sitting ducks is delusional.

mental illness and media coverage combine to inspire copycat mass killings, imo. after the aurora killings, victims, family and their advocates begged the press to focus on the lives of their loved ones, not the shooter.

Bill,

You are spot on with this post. The gun debate is so complicated and an area of dialogue that heats up fast and furious. I typically just keep my opinions to myself concerning this topic, but, again, you are spot on. Very well stated and I agree.
I say we start arming our teachers like they do in Israel, so the next fool that does this get's dropped on his ass and maybe the next one will reconsider murdering helpless babies to get his head count!
