DING DING DING!!!!!!

And the winner is WOWZER!!!!

Her winning post revealed ... wait for it ... that Topix has a flawed numbering system!!!!!!

Excellent.

Yeah, your post, Wowzer, shows as #30468, but at the top and bottom it says "Showing posts 29,981-30,000 of 30,000."

So you win!!! I'm not sure exactly what you win, and perhaps we shouldn't ask.:)

Now wasn't that fun?

I'm really getting sick of this popcorn.

Hasta manana!

Its all based on your data cache & cookies.. Where there are so many post reported & removed, if you have this site on your favorites bar & dont clear your data cache, it will "appear" to have more than it does.. On my laptop I checked & its well over 30K but I never use it (more of an iPad/iPhone user) & once I cleared history, cache & went to the site without clicking it on my bar, it was instantly updated.. Now using a Mac, which my devices made by Apple use, the Safari browser clears data every day..

I'm not sure why that is, but if you look at the top left, where it say's comments-page-1500 you are now the official proud parent of the thirty thousandth post! Congrats! I'm now tapping my champagne glass requesting a speech...Or is that a kissing of the bride thing? Either way...speech, speech...speech..!
Yippeeeee! Yahoooo! I'm really the 30,000??? I'm so excited I don't know what to say. Do I get a big prize? I'd even be happy with the booby prize.
Please hold the champagne though. When I see what alcohol does to a persons mind I think I'd rather drink from a mud puddle.
Thanks for the congrats. Feeling the love tonight. Blowing kisses everywhere.

Ah, the deleted posts..I'm not sure how to process this. Not to mention this rather expensive bottle of Dom...?
Nooooooooo! Tell me it ain't so. I just posted my winners speech, woke the dogs and neighbors up with my screams of excitement and now it might have all been for nothing. Sigh....

I have a vintage 1995 Dom Perignon that I will share with you Wowzer :-).. Its in my new avatar pic ;-)

What i've never understood was that you can buy the bottles fresh every year for 100$ counting tax...But then some bottles become worth (in my adult life) upwards of $300 or the 2003 (some 450$) while the others stay the same price.. I know it has something to do with that years grapes but never understood it.. Before I quit drinking in 2007, my favorites have to he the Dom Perignon Rose' & the 1996 or 2000 years of Cristal by Louis Roederer...

Also, just watched the ID show (im on season 4) episode about Morgan Harrington.. Now, it shows that she was in Roanoke Va, which I mentioned the other day being 45mins from me, & I have never heard of this case!! I know VA Tech (Blacksburg VA) & the city of Roanoke pretty well & this is news to me!! It says it happened in 2009 But all I remember about Tech was the 2 horrible incidents that happened there that made the news.. 1 being the guy that took a gun that harmed many people & 1 being the guy with a Samari sword that hurt (what the news said) his girl friend..

So, I am guessing back in 2004, maybe many people didnt know about MMs case??

I made a bold prediction on Friday concerning the irresponsibility of enabling behavior. I believe a couple of other posters chimed in with the complicity involved and even posted a link from Wiki concerning such. We were told, and rather pompously, I might add that some people don't use Wiki for their legal definitions. Okay, but us regular people use the resources available to us.
Sadly, my prediction was spot on and, although I'm sure the enablers would suggest that I egged this situation on, I would in turn ask them to please "research" The last six pages or so and reconsider. I also would ask these supporters of the mentally ill; At what point do you yourselves actually step forward with suggestions to this particular party and offer some form of real support? Defending said party is all good an admirable, but, defense without responsible support is enabling and as I predicted.
just a slight correction for accuracy,
i made the initial case for the potential harmful effect by enabling this/these individuals some time ago.
clearly, spot on.
your continued observations and support to minimize those effects specific to this topic and participants is very much appreciated.
thank you.

I was having a hard time with the next chapter of My book. When I went to bed last night I was hoping to dream it.

WELL....no dreams, BUT I woke up to this forum and You simpletons have so helped Me to get through chapter 13.

Again.....Wondering what happened to the discussion about Maura. She is being forgotten all for the child like behaviour of 96% of the ones who post here.

Tang,
I'm not sure how us simpletons helped, but I'm glad to be of service. I question your last discourse here and it's association with Maura? As I recall, you were off on a tangent about JR's grandfather and his possible rampaging here in the frozen north.
Lastly, not sure what the grandfather's current status concerning being alive or dead has to do with the time line? As I have said, his residence and activities have been observed or known, since the early seventies.. Some advice from a well known author concerning writing. "Start with one true sentence". EMH. I can't stress this enough Tang. Good day and sweet dreams... ; )

Lighten up a little columbo. If all we talked about was the same things that have been talked about for the last 9 years it would be a pretty boring forum and I doubt anyone would stick around. There's been no news here for years.
A little fun and excitement and getting offtrack sometimes is not a bad thing IMHO.

Thank You Amy. NO, I have not received any answer for the shoes. Maura's friends must know or seen them for sure if she had them. I believe she did.
Did you ever email Maura's family to ask about the shoes? As for the party, here's what I was remembering, this bit from an anon commenter at Renner's blog -- I don't put much faith in info from anon commenters, but maybe this will help you find someone else who remembers this info coming from a reliable source. I thought this was touched on in one of the articles also, but can't find it. The Seventeen mag article doesn't mention anyone walking her back.

"In the beginning of Maura's missing, a Boston newspaper reported that
according to Kate Markopoulos the party was in another friend's dorm
room. That friend was Sara Alferi. While not documented, I read on one
of the earlier discussion boards that 1. Kate, Kate's boyfriend and
either a brother or cousin of Sara walked Maura back to her dorm. Kate
had said the last time she saw Maura was when she left her with Sara's
relative. Again, according to Markopoulos in the Boston newspaper
article, she, Sara and Maura lived in different dorms"
