Maura Murray

It reminds me of someone convicted in the eyes of the public and wishing to go on Oprah rather than a hard hitting interviewer to voice their
opinions and feelings because they know she will toss the softball questions and heaven forbid if the truth is touched on or a feeling is hurt.

One of the few things that Snowey and I actually agree on is that I also feel that her past plays into the equation. Why was she there in a beaten down car on a cold Feb winter and with the expressions to her teachers that she would be gone for a week.You can rule out that it was just a short trip to go for a hike or go skiing. If Maura was abducted by a stranger then the past really wouldn't matter much cause it was random. If Maura ran away or committed suicide then the past would matter in determining what option might have been the stronger of the possibilities.

Mauras Past: questions that might mean something:

-was Maura about to be expelled from UMASS

-Did Maura Hit Vasi

-Did Fred hit Maura after Corolla crash

-Was Maura pregnant

-Did Maura have another boyfriend

- Was Fred there to buy a car for Maura that weekend

Yep- JWB has made many of the same statements that some are just now agreeing on today, JWB initiated the statements of the family holding back info but was handcuffed for saying so.

I believe as an officer of a local mall that posters here make judgements on someones posting name and not the message given.

NH has mountains and north shore have fish.

Well what do ya know? I totally agree with you on this post FrmLE, I think you're spot on with both of those descriptions & said it much more succinctly than I did.

& exactly on the 4000 footers, beautiful hikes, but a far cry from thrill seeking in any way, this is calle hiking on well maintained trails, not exactly mountain climbing. The worst you have to worry about is getting a sprained ankle or something of the like, not exactly putting your life in danger.

I'd say in the winter time it's another story where it can be much more dangerous but I've never heard of one story of her ever going winter mountain climbing, and judging by how challenging she considered hiking the 4000' peaks, I have serious doubts that she ever or would ever attempt it in the winter time where it's a whole nother ball game.
I give her props for the 23 mile hike, that takes some serious work, but it's still nothing you're putting your life in danger doing, as evidenced by the fact that they celebrated on the peak with a couple beers. You don't drink beers when you're hiking trails that your life is in danger.

I also agree with your assessment of her drivin the car up, definitely in the stupid/poor judgement category but thrill seeking? Not exactly a proper description.

Hadn't she just drove the car over 2 hours back to Amherst from the south shore anyways? I get the sense that if the family isn't lying about saying her car was a pos, I'd say there's a good chance she might have been bullshitting them to try to get a newer car, which is not very uncommon among college girls, tell their family the car is on its last legs to get em to buy you a new one, happens all the time.
I always felt that since she had just drove it a couple hours back to school she figured it would probably make it 3 hours up Nh. Still stupid & her problems Probably helped her make this irrational decision but I think describing her taking the car up north as thrill seeking just a completely wrong assessment.

Either way, good to finally agree with you on something.

Painting a story based upon conjecture and allegations, as well as sensationalizing to meet some Hollywoodistic standard, seem more important to some than a bonafide effort to help us discover Maura’s whereabouts. Recently, outrageous and completely false allegations vilifying our father and our family have surfaced during this difficult time. While some may give instant credibility to these allegations, there is never a mention of any investigation to determine the presence of any biases or motives to fabricate of these sources. We feel all sources of information, along with any persons of interest, should endure the same level of scrutiny to determine if derogatory facts exist which may call their credibility into question.

We remain a united family struggling with the unconscionable burden of a missing loved one, a burden that we wish upon no one. Each and every day our family lives and relives this tragedy, the weight of which has affected us all, none more so than our father. We remain steadfast in our efforts to find our sister, and we thank all of those who have provided and continue to provide love and support along this difficult road.

Can´t blame them for not wanting to participate on topix... but if they don´t want their father vilified, maybe they should ask him to clear up the mess with the many contradictory statements he made.

Here we go again. Maura wasn't a "young girl" when she went missing, and she certainly isn't a "young girl" now--won't she be 30 on her upcoming birthday?

Julie's letter is beautifully written and heartfelt, but why does Maura's own family infantilize her?

Short of a federal law being violated, I do not think that unless there is gross misconduct or egregious mishandling the FBI will NOT get involved. I was surprised that Julie asked that all information be given to the FBI, since they are not involved it seems counterproductive. There is a better chance that information will be lost or delayed since information will be going through a middle man unnecessarily. The NH State police, the CCU or the Haverhill PD should get this information. The family's closed mindedness, focusing on one scenario only and holding information that THEY determined to be irrelevant is the single largest hindrance to this case. While I sympathize with their pain, I have a hard time understanding their stubbornness and utter stupidity in this regard.
