Only here on Topix and I wasn't sure where it originated from.I thought poss Mrs. Champy, but I re read the Socco article and she saw Mauras Car door open the night of the accident as LE was as the scene. I didn't read any mention there of the red truck , but she drove by at 7:50 or so. I don't remember it being in any news article. Only here and maybe Advocate's forum? I think it would be hard for Renner to verify this since the name of this witness hasn't been put out there.

Just throwing out this thought: I think what is frustrating to me is that you have the Westmans peering out their window (across the street), the Marrottes peering out there window (almost looking dead at Maura) and SBD sitting in his school bus with a view of the road if not the car. I am not insinuating anything here whatsoever. I am only expressing the frustration of up to 6 pairs of eyes that were known to be watching the Maura at the Saturn yet nobody saw her leave. Then you add the fact that LE shows up in a very short span. I know it is very dark in that area with sparse lighting but frustrating non the less.

I would assume that some portion of the book will be vanilla background info that will be contained in it's own chapters, thus making it easily edited to change some details if needed later. The Murray clan dynamics could fill a book of it's own.

James Renner wrote: I've explained it before. I use my blog as a generator of leads. I believe in "crowd-sourcing" clues and info in these unsolved cases. A "hive mind" of readers is always going to be smarter than one individual journalist. Yes, the Reddit post went up after I noticed how readers there helped generate leads in the Boston bombing case. I was very impressed by that. i figured when maruchan noticed your post on reddit that this was likely the reason. some people here will question your journalistic integrity but you are certainly able to defend your actions in that regard. i would humbly suggest you consider adding editorial notes to your blog when you edit a post after it's been published, if for no other reason than in the interest of being transparent and forthcoming with your readers. you can count me among those looking forward to reading your book when it publishes.

Just wondering why neighbors didn’t offer a friendly holler to see if the Saturn driver needed help being pushed out of the snowbank? Or even a "hello out there, are you okay”?

I have to say James that your last two posts are the lamest and most unprofessional excuses for shoddy journalism I have seen in a very long time. Before today I was quite indifferent to your blog and book, however I now find myself disgusted by your approach and philosophy. That is just my opinion for what it's worth. looks like any means will justify the ends...on both sides. after all, the defense of MM campaign has pointed their fingers over the years. the book is unauthorized, and Renner has had one hand tied behind his back from the get go by the family's refusal to cooperate. in either case, it seems the word "integrity" is being redefined. i, too, am disgusted by his philosophies about investigative practices in an unofficial capacity.

An interesting comparison is the book recently published about the missing McStay family. Another case where family refused to cooperate with the author. While not solving the case, the author was still able to uncover new facts that have shed some light on what was really going on in their lifes, extended family and associates. Not a pretty picture in that case. I would imagine we could at best expect something like this when the MM book is published. I´m a bit concerned mr Renner is a bit too trusting of what people tell him, and doesn´t really go back to the sources. Hope I´m wrong and Renner is just saving the goodies for his book.

Everybody should also check out the updated version of Renner´s blog post about Kathleen and her doings in VT. I wouldn´t be too surprised if Maura was in deeper doo doo than we know.

James Renner "What isn't helpful are the posters on here who "know" certain information that may be helpful to the investigation but choose not to share it." Could it be they have already given there info to the real investigators?

A lot of information flowing from the blogspot. Reading through "Finding Amy's Killer" tells me that Mr. Renner's recent MM posts are as uncharacteristic as they are caustic. As much as we are taken aback by his recent lack of journalistic scruples, I personally believe it is a calculated attempt to squeeze wine from a stone. It may not get us to .352, but it has definitely created a buzz.

There was talk about a woman walking her dog, and the dog was spooked. Later there has been denial of this, there was supoosedly never a re truck there, no woman walking her dog, etc. Later still there has been more talk of the red truck on BHR. Well then maybe the witness whom told me about the woman walking the dog was just not simply telling me the truth.

Hey Tang, cmon out and tell everyone about the truck on BHR that first a woman walking her dog saw and then it changed to she was walking her dog on 112. Tell them that when you were told that I had asked some people that would have had a good chance of seeing this truck the story changed again to it wasn't someone in the area that saw it. So which is it today, pickup, woodtruck, no truck or bicycle? It would be nice to have proof that this truck even existed and was actually seen by Longfellow Rd and also the time it was seen.It would be even nicer to hear the truth.

According to Columbo it was seen at the top of hill by Longfellow Rd. It's pitch black on BHR and quite a stretch of it there are no houses till you get to the top. No woman is going to walk her dog with no streetlights in the dark.

Sorry I dont recall the exact location though. What I was told by a witness concerning the woman walking the dog was in a different location. Hopefully you will understand that I do not want to put the exact location down concerning this woman.

So no red truck on BHR? No driver outside? Would anyone gain from having people believe there was a red truck there at the time? Making people believe it was connected to MM disappearance?
