i already allowed for differences in vehicle manufacturers.

Maura, in high school, was a student and athlete.
the expectation and progression, especially since a sibling paved the way, was to follow with daughter #2.
at the finish line, the obligation to fulfill is military service.
Maura, obviously, didn't complete her education at WP.
what was the financial obligation, if any, for leaving after approx 3 semesters or 1 1/2 academic years?
and what was the end date marking her departure from WP, and the start ate of the transfer to UMASS? the transition matters.
did she send a semester in-between living at home? was she a day student during that time? or was the semester completed at WP and she was able to jump right into her studies at UMASS?
apart from the reason(s) for her being dismissed from WP, were her academics suffering during that last semester?
was she managing to rise to a tough major, chem engineering, with associated challenges and competition at WP...or was she falling?
i don't believe any of the information coming from sources that surrounded MM and her family on discussion boards in all of these years. there are all kinds of story lines made up about her life and relationships prior to her disappearance, many of which were spoon-fed and swallowed whole by the public.
alas, without verification from the institutions, and given records are inaccessible, as you know and have found, there will be no answers. and those puzzle pieces are important.
was there a financial obligation for having spent those semesters at WP?
how did expenses overlap during the transfer to UMASS? even if tuition was provided, room and board would need to be met, along with associated loans. it gets complicated.
and then she cracks up a car...and another.
if she was not the victim of stranger abduction on a rural road in NH in a matter of minutes, then the answers to her disappearance lie in the progression of starts and stops in her life beyond high school.
and why did she leave UMASS on that day, anyway?
i don't envy the task you've set out for yourself.
this post was intended for Mr. Renner, with no reply expected or needed. the questions are obvious, but are still unanswered.
i think they're important, and since you read here, and i don't like wading through moderated comments, i thought i'd throw out a few persistent questions.

Lots of people try to drive away from acc. scenes IF the vehicle is somewhat driveable......AS IN THE CASE OF MAURAS CAR.

It was driveable that evening....just saying.!

well, i learn from you, and you learn from me.
i didn't occur to me that people attempt to drive off in a car damaged by an accident. some are probably motivated and desperate enough to do so.

West Point cadets receive their education courtesy of the American taxpayers and in return owe 5 years active duty service and 3 years in the Reserves. Cadets are free to leave up until they sign their Reaffirmation of Oath at the beginning of their junior year. If they quit or are separated after that, they are then obligated to repay the government for the cost of their time at West Point. It would be several hundreds of thousands of dollars and your wages can be garnished.

If Maura only spent 3 semesters at West Point, she did not have a financial obligation to repay the government. Her credits are free to transfer to another college.

Stealing is an honor offense and cause for separation at West Point.

Of course people try to drive away after an accident, most people actually. You're from the north shore and were driving a Range Rover previously so you obviously don't have the same worries about money that most people do.

You've never seen people drivin around with cars that have been damaged in accidents? Many people can only afford liability insurance on their car and many of thoe same people don't have AAA and can't afford to pay for a tow so they have to try to drive away from an accident if their car isn't that damaged.

It's probably more common for people to try to drive away from an accident than not. You don't have to be desperate to do that, just not having a lot of money is a prime motivator, somethin you must not know much about.

The location of the saturn positioned in front of Marrottes house would change everyones perception of the scene.

There is about 215 feet difference between the Big pine and the small balsams in front of Marrottes where the saturn was found by LE.

Just came thru there this am on My way back from Ocean State. The river is flowing good today.

thanks, very much!
so, no additional financial pressure on her father or Maura to repay an additional obligation as a result of her separation from WP.

John Green is definitely getting overzealous and I hope he will tone it down.

That said...

He is definitely right about the modernist vs. postmodernist literature thing.

Hannah_b, if you have an MA, how could you confuse modernism with postmodernism? Or did you just think no one here would care?

I love you (though not in a creepy way) and want you to redeem yourself, so please explain.

You're welcome.

No, she would not owe any money. She would have had a few credits to transfer, such as calculus, chemistry, English, etc., if she had done well in her classes. Some of the classes are military-specific and I doubt they would transfer.

Separation is a lengthy process so she would have known she was on the way out, particularly for an honor offense. Not knowing when she left (middle or end of the semester), it is conceivable that she could have applied to UMass and been accepted for the spring semester of what would have been her sophomore year.

Where is the information available about the post accident location of the Saturn? I have never seen it anywhere and it seems rather important.

Bob,

How presumptuous! Could it not be that through thrift, self discipline and financial planning Snowy could have built a good life for herself?! I don't recall her telling us that she was just rolling in the dough, but, if she is it is likely because she had the forethought to save and deny herself things when she was younger. Unless you inherit your money, you know what it's like to scrimp and save and be poor....Dumbass... ; )
