Why do they need to? Even if the whole state of NH knows who MM is that will change the outcome of the case.
I think you look at people's involvement backwards. If people choose to get involved they can, if they don't wish to then that doesn't make them bad people. Under the circumstances if I was assisting in a search and her family didn't tell me everything that I wanted to know then I'd peace out. It isn't mandatory to do anything.
Shack has always had this absurd belief that everyone in the area (maybe all of NH) should be nightly huddled around the table "sitting shiva" for Maura. I suspect they should also be moaning, crying and wailing according to her. She has this belief that all the people in the area have responsibility for her running away after crashing her car while driving and drinking and according to her they are even responsible for her "murder". Shack seems to have very little in the way of life experiences, education or basic knowledge so her absurd utterances have never been considered useful by anyone that I remember. Some people tolerated her, kind of like how you tolerate crazy aunt Sally. You know, that nutty relative that no one invites buts keep showing up at family events. I don't remember anyone considered shack's "information" to be of any use. You just tried to not get caught in a corner with her, again, like crazy aunt Sally. They are sometimes good for a laugh. You do need to be concerned when she "thinks" though because more often than not her thoughts will run off the rails. Sometimes it expresses itself in the form of wild, baseless, accusations.

Wow this attitude is just crazy.
First of all "if was assisting in a search and her family didn't tell me everything that I wanted to know then I'd peace out" Are you for real here? What do you think you would be assisting, in the investigation? If you were helping on a search you would be a volunteer on a search and I doubt you get a Q&A session with the missing person's family and they need to answer all the searcher's questions about the missing person and their family's background or the searchers don't search.
You show me that you have never volunteered for anything in your life. When people volunteer they do it because there is a good purpose behind what they are doing.

That's you Jenkins you know nothing about something but you will argue for the sake of an argument. You would tell a Navy Seal the correct way to extract a pilot and truly believe you know what your talking about because you have done this in Call of Duty.

Jenkins, I too was surprised at the response....
however, remembering that in April 2004, residents were calling Haverhill PD complaining of trespassing by Murray family and friends looking for Maura. I think of it as mass denial.
You are going to have a tough one proving this point. I think of the Aframe and how so much garbage has been thrown around who would want anyone on their property? Citigirl until one year ago was still saying it was "human blood" ofcourse the only way to know that is by lab test, and the lab test would test for DNA and blood type if it was such a solid lead. Would citigirl come back on and finally dismiss the claims that she has no idea what type of blood was on the carpet?

Most or all of the body damage to Frederick J. Murray's 1996 Saturn, which was found abandoned in Haverhill NH 2/9/2013, was sustained before the Saturn left Amherst MA.

I am not sure if hitting a pedestrian would be enough to trigger the airbags.

Obviously, even glancing contact with a motor vehicle can cause a pedestrian to hit the road surface, sometimes head first. No air bag deployment required.

Also, airbags are very expensive. It's not unusual for air bags to be deliberately set off - outside the context of a crash - in order to total out a motor vehicle in terms of an insurance claim.

If the cost of repairing a vehicle, including replacing the air bags, is higher than the vehicle's value, then it's cheaper for the insurance company to simply write the car's owner a check instead of paying to have the car repaired.

But sometimes plans go astray.

It's all about the deceleration of the vehicle. At least two of the accelerometers have to register the requisite deceleration to trip the airbags. So, its hard to tell. Of course the damage is not like any I have ever seen for a car that is supposed to have hit a pedestrian because of course it didn't hit a pedestrian so the point is moot.

So Maura drove 100 or so miles with a deployed airbag. Thats some pretty good driving.

As you point out, that in itself is absurd. We would often cut the deflated airbag just to get access to the compartment or when pulling it up on the flatbed to use the steering wheel.

A lot of this nonsense they portray sounds fun, it's great theater, but in reality, just looking at the nuts and bolts of it, people should realize it is absurd.

that's a fair consideration.
her disappearance may be more complicated than it appears to be, especially if authorities and the public have been mislead.

or maybe there's a simple answer.
who knows? for sure? right?

My opinion is if the real truth ever came out the answer would be much easier to understand than what we all think. I think Maura may have had laundry she didn't want aired and that makes this much harder to understand.

Friends stating " not wanting to get Maura in trouble" could be much easier explained as cheating on her BF on Saturday night and getting caught and everyone keeping it a secret. Just one theory of mine.

it's hard to believe not one person knows why she left UMASS and with whom, if anyone, she planned to travel and/or meet.

it's, therefore, hard to put any puzzle pieces in place without shape or form.

it's hard to imagine authorities would be intentionally misled by her family or friends at a critical time when information collection was underway. who would risk or want to jeopardize her not being found by withholding?

and, yet, it's been proven that information offered to the public has been intentionally incomplete and misrepresented.

i think it's impossible to develop a theory without filling in with lots of speculative details that may not have any basis in truth. what is possible or probably may be equally improbable.

Do you recall the scam being run by UMASS parking and a private towing company, the husband and wife team?

Maybe it was Alden.

Just thought I'd share. Not that anyone will care. But I figure they'll come slumming here and see this.
Does not surprise me at all.
