Is that last bit in reference to me asking questions?<quoted text>
I believe that was a female from Oklahoma? The one that had the courtesy to actually read every post before asking questions?

Poster was "what if" -- yes, apparently from OK. Don't know if male or female, did that even come up? |

Judged: 1 1 1 I obviously can't speak for any other new posters, but I know that I myself, have made the effort to read up on the case. There have been a few nights where I have literally fallen asleep at my computer while reading up on the case. I almost stopped doing it because I thought that it was becoming unhealthy for me to be reading and trying to research about it at the expense of other things in my life. I'm also new to Topix so I don't neccessarily know which forums to go to, to see if my specific question has already been answered (there seems to be many different forums about Maura or related on here). I might not know as much as you do about the case but it doesn't mean that I haven't taken the time and effort to read up on it. I think it would be more productive to offer some advice to the newbies on the best/most efficient way to peruse the forums to find answers, instead of making remarks like that. This is not an attack on you personally. I'm just trying to explain where I'm coming from and why I'm asking questions. |

Judged: 3 3 2 it's flattering to be remembered (wink and grin). not sure if it's flattering to be connected to the authorship of this mysterious book that has surfaced on amazon; i suppose it depends on the book. but alas, it is not the product of any study i've done on the circumstances surrounding maura's disappearance. truth is, shortly after i worked my way through this thread, i had to take a break. partly, it was due to circumstances at work, and in part it was due to the tone of this discussion that seemed to quickly and easily veer into odd and angry tangents. i was finding that i was having a hard time as my feelings of sympathy to maura and her family were becoming almost inextricably enmeshed with my disdain for the at times overly harsh nature of conversations here. i work professionally in the world of online communications, so i understand the tendency for discussion boards like this to run the course that this forum has. but idealistically, i always hope to stumble into an online community that might be immune to the normal tendencies of most discussion forums. i do check in every few weeks to see if there is anything new being discussed. not much yet, though, it seems. and i'm looking forward to renewing a project that i had hoped to begin sooner. i still owe a follow up to some posters. i know mr. renner and mr. green have their theories, and i'm still looking forward to reading renner's book when it's released. but as i watch other shows about unsolved crimes, i'm struck by the stories that include odd characters that seem or act suspicious only to later be cleared. it seems in maura's case, her's is a story that is waiting for that piece of evidence to surface or confession to be made that will finish the story and absolve the suspicious characters who are caught up in the circumstances of her disappearance. |

Judged: 1 1 It's yours! :-) So far, pretty decent, inasmuch as a fiction novel based upon a true story can be decent. I respect Bill's point of view, and he has previously opined that it seems 'low rent'- and he is right, the very idea is gauche. But I still am interested in a novel about Maura Murray. The initial portion is a background of the case - in fact, it's a good one. Reads almost like a coherent forum thread... |

Judged: 1 1 reminds me of when i tried to give away "In Cold Blood" after purchasing and reading it. no one wanted it. and i could have easily mailed it to certain individuals. i think mr. renner has expressed some interest? ;) |
