That sneaky Bastard sbd. Surely he realized that the little one person fender bender that happened outside his door was gonna turn into this situation. How could he not have seen it? He should have done what any responsible person would have done, called the police...What's that? he did? Hmmm sounds pretty devious....Hey Snowy, do you perchance know where Greens crew stashed the old horse carcass? Seems Sammy didn't have a chance to examine it and would like it dragged out so he can have a few swings at it..

Oh Sammy, that last paragraph really left you naked and exposed. As I told you I can't do it all for you. Why not do a little research before you make such false statements? A simple google search will teach you about some of Amhersts more interesting cases...I'm really concerned for you now. You want to dance with the very devil himself and you are showing two left feet..The devil my boy, is a dervish and amuses himself spinning little fellas like you into oblivion. I'm sorry that I missed it. Could you post the link?
No Sam, not Beagles most recent theory. I'm going to have to back away from you a little at this point. That whole noone ever disappeared from amherst statement like they do up here a on rt.112,( commanly called the Bermuda Triangle ) thing really concerns me as far as your research and scholarly approach goes. I'm going to have to ask you to stand in the corner wearing Granny's Dunce cap for at least ten minutes before I can even consider continuing on with the planning of the opera with you. This is exactly why I chose a three peice for my most recent band project. Diva from Kentucky won't let JG do the vocal monotones. Sammy hasn't even memorized the set lists much less the songs. No telling what we're going to be dealing with for an ego with the choreographer and nobody has even discussed hair and makeup. The venue hasn't even been decided and the sound man is likely a drunk. Dress rehearsal in two weeks and we've only cast four people! To many egos and personalities!

who knows how and to where she disappeared? the only info that can be laid down is eyewitness sighting, only if verified, along with day / date & approx time.
have the authorities confirmed the above?
or are even they guessing?

OK, you win. Maura probably succumbed to the elements on the UMass campus. I hope Renner does see this; he might take all the credit for this brilliant theory.
I have never suggested such a scenario Sammy, but Jim is welcome to speculate as he sees fit. My issue is with your declaritive statement concerning the dissapeared in Amherst. As I said, there are actually some pretty interesting stories concerning the history of Amherst, some with quite ghostly insinuations. Some pretty recent history there as well...
I appreciate your crediting me with having a brilliant theory, but I can assure you that James Renner and everyone else are quite aware that what I bring to the table is quite far removed from any sort of brilliant theory!

I did not even see the signal go up! Normally I'm pretty attuned to these things, but, I've been fascinated watching Sammy prep his teacup yorkie for a dog fight. Chasing wales off of the shores of Cape Cod in a wooden dinghy and helping James with working theories for his book even at this late date in the process. Now we've got this damned opera to organize and If I don't leave now, I'll be late for band practice...!

<quoted text>
Other than the presence of the Saturn, there is no reliable evidence that Maura ever left Massachusetts.
But what of the Saturn? Does its presence not convince you that she was in New Hampshire?

The presence of the Saturn is, of course, a strong indication that Maura Murray was at or very near the WB curve on 2/9/2004. After all, most people are usually not too, too far from their car when their car is away from home. Driver and car tend to be together more than apart, but cars do get separated from their customary drivers. Cars get towed, borrowed, used without authorization, or simply stolen. Sometimes the usual driver of a car does not even know his/her car is missing for hours or days. And sometimes bad things happen to these drivers - either before or after they leave their car for the last time.

I think what is often truncated from the car/driver equation is that Maura hasn't shown up in almost a decade.

Just because the vast majority of abandoned cars associated with an intoxicated driver who later returns or is otherwise located indicates a close proximity of all or nearly all drivers to their vehicles does not mean that Maura was likely at the WB curve and walked into the woods. That won't fly because the pool being used includes only people already verified to have been near their car because they were later located or they returned or whatever. Apples and oranges.

You have use as your comparison group drivers that abandoned their cars and disappeared permanently, or for a very long time.

If it can be shown that the vast majority of drivers who abandon their cars and are found, dead or alive, years later actually entered the woods of their own volition (or some such scenario), then you have good cause to argue that Maura entered the woods, or whatever. Because there's a lot of examples of it to point to. But that is not the case here.

Add to this the fact that, as cited at

http://detectivedirtbag.blogspot.com/2013/09/...

Maura seems to have been involved with a lot of motor vehicle stuff, plus an Iranian lover and an Iranian car dealer who specialized in selling wrecked cars and who had a connection to two other Iranians, including Petrit Vasi. So, yes, I think Maura's presence at the WB curve should be regarded with a dose of healthy skepticism. Doesn't hurt.

I don't think it has to be 100 percent likely or even 90 percent likely that Maura was with the Saturn, based on similar cases, for one to believe that Maura was at the WB curve. A 90 percent chance is pretty strong. But when it gets down toward 80 or 70 percent, then more skepticism seeps in, more questions should be asked, more options looked at.

My feeling is that Maura did actually drive the Saturn *somewhere* on 2/9/2004, and maybe drove it all the way to the WB curve, but she may have not understood that evening's plans the way someone else did - perhaps someone she knew, maybe quite well.

Maura certainly may have been running from a host of problems, but that doesn't mean she didn't run into the arms of someone she believed could comfort her or help her in some way or another. Or to relieve herself or someone close to her of a potentially very large financial and/or legal problem. To ditch a car damaged in Amherst MA. But to believe that all possible options *necessarily* include Maura's presence at the WB curve is, I think, not useful.

Maura may have perished in woods she entered of her own volition. She may have taken a ride with a reckless sledder and been killed because she fell off the back on a sharp curve. All kinds of things might have happened.

But a reasonably good case, given what is known, can be made that Maura Murray's disappearance is a direct result of illegal - even amateurishly illegal - activity rooted in Amherst MA, but which spanned several days and a 150 miles.

I assume that you can support that statement. Identify one case where a person disappeared in Amherst absent foul-play.
Sam,

I really do have to get to practice. Just Google people missing from Andover Mass. A couple of interesting stories right off of the bat. If you are unable to find anything, I'll point some out for you when I get home. We practice 'til ten so it will be a little later. I'm not trying to push you but if you could tune up the old mandolin and at least work on the first set list, it would set my mind at ease.. ; )
