Why do you think it's someone local? It stays for months and then someone removes it. Like someone who is only in the area occasionally. If it was a local and it really bugged them they could remove it immediately.

Timing is everything.

A local knows area and the movements.

You are kidding yourself if you think there was that level of planning put into ripping down a ribbon. Lol. Stake out a tree, recording the movements of he neighbors. Plan the date and time. Yeah that is some funny stuff. OR someone walked up to it in the middle of the night and yanked on it. You must be that crazy lady that ranted for hours on the MMM Facebook group. Does anyone honestly think that someone responsible would risk going and taking down the ribbon? If it was a local, and there is NO evidence it was, I would put my money on the ones close by trying to sell their house, especially after their address was recently posted on one of the Maura Murray sites and that particular site shows up when you search the address now. They must love that.

Hey Bill ' was the finger meant to represent the post or the tree and what is the difference? To me the tree would be more damage and that is not good for your theory is it?
I tried Bill's experiment, many times. I got different results nearly every time so I am not sure what the exercise was intended to prove(or disprove) Main factors that would also apply to a car hood: degree of curve to the paper, pre-existing imperfections of the paper, size of the object pushing on the edge(finger, pencil, jumbo marker, paperclip) I even simulated the hood latch with a piece of tape connected to the top of my desk and tried a few like that and the results were different from the others. I did get a few that resembled the damage on MM's car but there was no clear cause, not one method that gave that result consistently. Each one of these things reacted differently, I did it about 50 times. Inconclusive results, which brings us back to where we started. Was an interesting diversion Bill though during an otherwise busy day. So thanks!

Like I was saying. Back on both MM forums, they said it looked like the damage happened AFTER the wreck. "The damage couldn't have been that bad, all she did was hit a tree..........", followed by individual ideas like:
Looks like someone took a sledgehammer to make that gash in the hood
Looks like someone struck the hood right there on purpose, let's blow this section up, so you can see
Because the mindset at the time was that if she hit a tree, there's NO WAY the hood could look like that,~

Then, thanks to JR,(I'm guessing the thanks go to him), the TV repairman he spoke with helped to show the shaved off snow. When I saw that, I thought about those poles and the one I made out in a picture way back. Again, the pole was damaged and leaning toward the street. I can see point a of impact mark on the hood. I decided back then that it wasn't from running into a trailor hitch or even under a higher vehicle.
JMO here. And no big deal in the end. maybe.

As for that tree. I think they said family put that missing poster up as soon as they made way to the "crash scene" I'm thinking this is how the assumption was made, that the car was found right there. Either Fred, Sharon, or both later said that the car came to rest further down, toward BHR.
One of the neighbors said the car backed up parallel to the road. But it backed up a lot more than they made it sound. Either way, it's reasonable to use the tree as a marker and so more people passing through can see it.

Seriously, if true-that's terrible. They can write to have that removed. I've had to do that before for various slander against my store.

It's true. Page 3 in a google search when I looked. The more activity it gets the higher up the search list it will go.

You know how some people have hinted that the Saturn may have come unhitched (While in tow or intentionally unhitched there), and down through Old Peters Road? Well, I do and I doubt very much that it could shave off a corner like that.

Three points.

First, slander (or in written form, "libel") must be false or at least published with malice. The post that I authored merely states that pictures taken inside the home, from the MLS listing, help illustrate observations reported in the Conway article. There is nothing false about this. I, in fact, copied the picture from the MLS. Further, I harbor no malice. I simply wished to illustrate the occupant's observations as reported to Conway. So your "slander" argument fails.

Second, I did not tag the post with their address (although I did mention the address). I mentioned the address because I believe that one should credit a source. I borrowed the picture from the MLS and did not want to take the credit. But I was not intentionally advertising the address.

Third, it is unlikely that a prospective buyer will scroll through three pages of Google searches about the house unless the prospective buyer is already looking for something.

I think that it's a beautiful home. The buyers will be lucky to have it. And, at least in my opinion, it's proximity to Maura's ribbon only enhances it's value.
