I've taken the proper precautions with the signage---no trespassing signs at the edges, beware of dog etc. You're right about the woods up and over the mountain especially--there are lots of areas that only people who have spent time up there know about and some of it is only accessible through private property. As they say, don't bite the hand that feeds you..... Wowzer the real one wrote: <quoted text> Legally they can't search your property unless they have your permission or a search warrent. If your neighbors or you have dogs that may bite a trespasser it might be a good idea to put "no trespassing" signs up to cover yourselves if someone should get hurt on your land. I've mentioned several times in the past that I know the woods and back roads around here. There are many nooks and crannies that you have to know about in order to find as you probably know Looking. No one ever asked for help and at this point I'd rather crawl thru a tub full of worms than offer any knowledge I have of the area with people that have shown such disrespect and hatred toward myself and the people who live here. They are the ones that lost out Looking by not utilizing you, your trained dog and your knowledge of the area.

Aw come on guys. I mean neither of you would help? After all the wonderful things that Shack and others have said about the locals. I know that I would rather walk across a floor with broken glass, on my lips, than get involved with any of the people in that group. I understand, completely. It is a shame though that Shack and others poisoned such a useful pool of talent when on one hand they claimed they wanted to help and on the other hand they kept alienating all the talent that could have helped. I wonder how they feel now, after all this time. Clearly all the damage she and others have wrought has not waned. I wonder if people knew how long her damage would have lasted, long after she disappeared from the scene, if there would have been greater cries to stop her when she was crapping all over the locals? But the damage is done, she was warned at the time over and over by me and some others, and this is likely not a repairable situation because of it. It truly is a shame. Bill

Bill I know there are some that will no longer open their door to strangers and there are some (including me) that will never again stop to help a stranger that has either broken down or had an accident. I will use my cell to call for help but my tires will be burning rubber to get me as far away as quickly as possible. And you can bet money I won't give my name when I call. Lesson learned. Thanks Shack. Bill you said above you wonder how they feel now after all this time. I doubt they feel any different than they did. Just as hateful and disrespectful as ever. I know it's certainly changed the way I look at people now that I don't know. And to think I USED to be a very nice person.

The last public words said by Butch Atwood were: "I wish I had never stopped to help her." And I think the frosting on the cake for SBD is when Elsewherebriefly asked the obviously psychotic and dangerous poster Johnny something (can't remember his last name) when she saw that he was posting from Florida - to go to SBD's Florida home and "talk to him and see what he could learn". Driven out of NH by Shack et al and then stalked and hunted down in his Florida home. No wonder he died in his early 60s. Come to think of it, he died shortly after EWB sent psycho Johnny to his home, not suggesting Johnny is directly responsible for his death but this visit from Johnny if it took place could have done nothing but undermine his already fragile health.

Anne, Go back to your trailer, your police scanner, change your diaper and settle in for another night of reminiscing about the good old days when you were having so much fun bashing the locals, making up crazy, fictitious accident reports etc. It must be so lonely for you now. Oh and by the way Mr Renner is not one of the same old regulars. He is brand new to the Maura Murray case, a brilliant researcher and author and he does not have a personal axe to grind. If you don't like what Maura's aunt Janis told Mr Renner then take it up with her. Mr Renner names his sources publicly so that you can verify them if you like. Unlike you who come up with a crazy story 6 months after the fact about something you heard on a police scanner.

IMHO Johnny was one of the most dangerous posters I've seen yet on this forum. Some thought it was OK for this psycho to go track down Butch. Bet if it was one of them Johnny was looking for the story would have changed and they would have run screaming to the police.

Thanks Snowy for remembering that Bravado was the last name I could not remember. It was Ouija who a long time ago recommended a book by Renner. He made $5,000.00 on that book. His research and travel expenses came to a little over $5,000.00. I hope he does make money on his MM book. People should be compensated for the work they do and I feel from what I have read that he is genuinely seeking the truth, doing this all at his own expense. I feel Mr Renner is even handed and does not have a personal agenda. If he continues on this track I will buy his book for myself and several extra copies to donate to my local libraries. About EWB telling Johnny to go to SBD's Florida home, I feel that this was perhaps the most egregious and despicable act of all. And I believe that's really saying something considering all the atrocities we have seen on these forums, all done for the ALLEGED purpose of finding Maura. And for the record I believe Maura is alive and well. Unlike SBD who was sacrificed in the name of her cause.

She is not alive, unfortunately. She is surely in the woods somewhere between 116 and Woodstock, far up where you would need to literally trip over her body to find her. There was no abduction, she is not living with Hanibel Lecter or DB Cooper in Bermuda. She walked into the woods drinking and never came out. Having spent days and days searching for Patrick McCarthy I can tell you it is like finding a needle in a haystack. And we had a much better idea where he would be than Maura Murray. Whatever was going on in her head that night noone will ever know. She chose her end, someday some hunter or hiker will stunble over her body and perhaps there will be a note explaining why. Then we will know.

Here is a little tidbit just posted on websleuths. Don't know if it is true but I have no reason to doubt it and it does explain a lot. This person claims that SBD never claimed to be a police officer and the misunderstanding was likely not SBD's fault. He said he was an employee of the the Taunton police department, which apparently he had been as a civilian employee. The reporter misinterpreted him working in the department as him being a policeman and reported it that way. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php... Remember all those people (names deleted) who wanted to lynch him about that "lie" also. Every-time you look closer it becomes more and more obvious that SBD was just an honorable man trying to do right. Even this indignity wasn't corrected until after his death. And yet not even posthumously does anyone who persecuted this man, have the decency to apologize. Even after now, when every lie told about him has been exposed as just that. A lie. Apparently every person who persecuted this poor man never remembers saying a single unkind word. Seriously, all of you that did that, shows you of seriously deficient character. Not only for saying it. But even more telling is the fact you won't correct those statement and admit he had nothing to be ashamed about and did nothing wrong. Except try to help this young lady. Ask all those people that have criticized all the searches that where done and will tell you how easy such a search would be. Of course you already have one strike against you because its likely they suspect that you are lazy and likely incompetent as we know all public servants (LE) are. Nope, I think you might just have been out in the woods having a party while making believe that you were searching. I mean you do call it a search party don't you? So it must just be fun and games. I hope you realize that this is absolutely dripping with sarcasm. I am a searcher/coordinator/trainer also who has tried to explain this to others on this forum who have never been in NH woods and have no clue how difficult it is to find something in those woods. And of course they feel that it is either laziness or incompetence that has caused her to not be found. I doubt I know who you are but I would like to offer my appreciation for the work you did in Patric's case and Maura's if you searched for her also. Bill

Bill I believe it is true Bill. This is still a sore spot with me and still makes me very angry when I think back to all the bad things that were said about him. I knew Butch, not well, but I knew him for a long time. I posted here quite some time ago that he was a respected member of the community and I had never heard a bad word about the man. I also said besides being a SBD he had also taught our children (at the remote Ammonoosuc gun club, gasp) the Hunter Safety course. And everyone that went there came home safe and sound. What makes me the maddest is that I was totally ignored as if I never said a word and they just continued with their bashing of the man. Sorry for my ranting but I've never known such hateful, sick, vengeful, despicable people that are so willing to try to ruin strangers lives and reputations and harrass the living crap out of a neighborhood all for the sake of a missing person that they don't even know with no proof at all that a crime of any kind was even committed. They will answer to someone someday for what they did.
