Here's the pertinent part of the SOCO article: Champy said around the time Maura went missing the A-frame house was being rented by a local man and his girlfriend. The man, she said, was known to have a violent temper and was allegedly a sex addict. She added that it was rumored there were bones and dead dogs at the house, which may have been what the search dogs smelled. The local man and one of his male friends did snow plowing in the area at the time, Champy added, recalling that while plowing they drove along Route 112 frequently. Strangely, she continued, neither has been seen in the Haverhill area since Maura disappeared. Champy also recalled that the local man was friendly with someone in the Haverhill area court system, which further fueled rumors this man could had something to do with Maura’s disappearance. “He used to brag about it,” Champy recalled. More speculation has ensued about a rusty, reddish-brown stained knife that a man (who is now deceased) gave to Fred Murray later in 2004, Helena recalled. The knife belonged to the man’s brother. The brother had a criminal past and lived less than a mile from where Maura’s car was discovered, she said. The brother and his girlfriend reportedly acted strangely after Maura’s disappearance. According to Champy, the man mailed the knife to Haverhill Police Department, but nothing was ever done with it. “It’s been kicked to the curb,” Champy said.

Yes but Champy also said it was hailed as rumor and never went anywhere.

His first post is on my page 98, post #2039. He talks a lot about his sons having knowledge about this person. <quoted text> Thank you very much.

There was talk about this person on the very long thread that got deleted, I beleive also on the deleted thread that was created after that one, and also on Adv´s second forum, the one that´s no longer available. Other than that the archive is great resource. Regarding mr S, the discussions mostly concluded he was not well liked in the community, but there was nothing to tie him to MM. I think it may all be part of the anti-Haverhill conspiracy, and a result of the efforts by some to find a "local dirtbag" to pin MM´s disappearance on. As long as there are no evidence of a crime, I prefer to think there was no crime committed against MM. I am totally willing to eat crow if evidence of a crime somehow turns up. Thanks for your response. I've always thought him to be an interesting character, but likewise, I've never heard of or turned up anything that indisputably links him to Maura. It's all circumstantial.

You mean all this windmilling over the last few days has accomplished nothing useful? Who would have thought? Especially since this was all gone over how many times over the years. Bill

I'm simply discussing it given the recent question posed in post #43179. But in general, "windmilling" isn't necessarily a bad thing. New people learn about this case all the time. Who cares if it has been discussed many times? People miss things. Having new eyes on something is valuable. Just because the old timers here on Topix have thought about and researched a topic many times, doesn't mean there isn't valuable information to yet be discovered. Thinking that this forum has effectively vetted all of the details contained in those theories is, to be frank, extremely ignorant.

That is a remarkably bold statement for someone who has been here for a couple of months. Those of us that have been here for years since nearly the beginning, know where this went. And it still goes the same place. Nowhere. Not only doesn't it go anywhere but it also has no legs so it is unwarranted accusations against innocent people. Similar to the damage that was so adeptly done in the past. It is sad that it needs be brought up again for yet another group of busy-bodies for their entertainment. Leave the sleuthing to the professionals because frankly....you and some of your cohorts really suck at it. Bill

What does that mean - Has anyone looked in Boston for her? So you figure what, she is a hooker, or real estate broker, maybe a coffee barista in a starbucks? In Boston? What lead you to that conclusion? Bill

IMO he's just another poor victim in the wrong place at the wrong time. If he wasn't sitting at the same table as Maura and had his picture taken he would not be being talked about on these forums/blogs IMHO.

It's just because he ran with the highschool group of about 10 people, the same group that Maura did. I'm sure they were hoping he'd talk unlike the other girls.

Wondering why people having their children's lives screwed with, by some "for profit" moron, and wondering why they might react violently makes me incredulous. And yes, your cohorts do suck at this. They suck magnificently at it. Bill

Visit them, see how much information you can get about me if I left the area ten years ago with no forwarding address after waiting another ten years. Don't think I would be calling that a hot lead. Some here wonder why there are some of us that shake our head in dismay and sometimes disgust when we read some of the replies on these forums. Some things are so idiotic it is beyond the normal mind to comprehend it. Someone brought to my attention a post that someone wrote on one of the other blogs. It was about the SBD, you know the one that stopped and offered help and has been dragged through the mud ever since. It seems that someone was wondering if he faked his death, was actually alive and living in Canada with Maura Murray. Did anyone else see this post? I understand that there's lots of deleting going on over there so I'm not sure if it's still up . And yes that made me shake my head in dismay(that anyone could be that stupid) and disgust that this poor man is still being dragged through the mud even after death. Again and again and again. I never thought I'd compliment JWB but it looked like he was the only one that mentioned BA's obituary had been seen or something similar to that wording. I think it's despicable that innocent people are being once again put into a guilty light without even an ounce of proof that they had anything at all to do with Maura either before or after she disappeared. And I don't mean just BA but all the innocents that are being hunted down and their privacy destroyed. All in the name of Maura Murray.
