The quote from BM article that sums it all up: "In Maura Murray’s case, Strelzin will not say how often law enforcement monitors online forums, but concedes that the police are “aware of things that are said.” He adds that “nothing fruitful” has ever come from the DIY detectives." Should we start sharing cookie recipes instead? I have a good one!

The picture of JG sleeping in his car in Walmart´s parking lot is forever etched into my brain. I will need years of therapy to get over it.

For all those who keep wanting to tie Beagle into having something to do with Maura's disappearance, please read and remember this - from the Boston Magazine article: "It’s impossible to know whether it was a real clue, a red herring, or part of some loony Internet game—no different from a bizarre YouTube video, featuring a bespectacled man cackling into the camera, that surfaced in 2012 on the eighth anniversary of Maura’s disappearance, but proved to be just a disturbing false lead." Got that? " ... proved to be just a disturbing false lead."

Snowy, It's so funny you mention the scarf. The image I am stuck with has a leather aviator cap, aviators goggles and yes, a scarf! The Red Baron ride again. ; )

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, and the beard on his chin was as white as the snow. The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath. He had a broad face and a little round belly, that shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly."

The more information that comes out.about Fred the worse he sounds. He thinks the cops werent doing enough and then john healy,.a retired state police detective, gets together a group of other detective to investigate the case and within a year fred shuts them out completely?? That makes no sense. And then he says finding his daughter is his number one priority, well actions speak louder than words and his actions are not showing that finding her is a priority. in fact, he seems much more interested with obstructing real investigations than helping them. I think its borderline moronic to imply that he helped her run away and knows where she is living, but I would not be surprised if he is the prime suspect in her murder. he can say whatever he wants but his actions are not of a father who wants to find his daughter at all costs. Quite the contrary actually. He is a very peculiar individual. Something else that makes me wonder what's going on, her car was smoking so he suggested putting a rag in the tailpipe? No way, I don't believe that for one second. The fact that he is STILL repeating that garbage really makes me question what he knows and his potential involvement in her disappearance. something is seriously not right about this guy.

Got that? " ... proved to be just a disturbing false lead." I have a lot of respect for you as a researcher, the last month or two you have dug up some very interesting things and made some great posts, but you might be off here, imo. Go back and read the first articles about beagle's videos, they came out within 1 to 2 days after the video was posted on YouTube. In those articles they already labeled the videos a cruel hoax, well how could they have possibly investigated them that fast? and investigated them well enough to know definitively they were a hoax? That's not how police investigations work. Just for the sake of argument let's say the producer of those videos really was her killer, and the police suspected it too. Do you really lhink that the police would ever come out and admit that her potential murderer was making videos about her disappearance and posting them on YouTube? not a chance, not in a million years would they do that. That would be worldwide news almost instantly if a suspected killer was using YouTube to mock and ridicule a victim's family, that would be like something from a movie. in addition to that it would also encourage the guy to make more videos because now he would be a worldwide infamous celebrity. it would also entail the police admitting that they know who the killer is but they can't do anything about it which will never, ever happen. I don't care what anybody says, its just not happening. Do you think the police are going to come out and say: hey there is a murderer mocking a victim's family on YouTube, we know it and we can't do anything about it? So tell me maruchan, if alden really was her killer what do you think the police would do? do you honestly think they would come out and tell the public that? what else could the police even say except that it is a cruel hoax? I'm not saying that I think alden is her killer, he looks like a potential suspect but I don't know. the one thing that I do know is you can't say that he's not a suspect because of what the police said in response to those videos, they really had no other choice of what to say.

Yesterday, Renner posted a link to the Boston Magazine article on his Facebook page. A follower of his left this comment: "So now he says he told Maura to stick the rag in the tailpipe?" To which Renner replied: "yeah. he keeps changing his story, doesn't he?" Another follower replied: "When someone changes stories, or their story doesn't match the facts, that's disturbing." This is one of the many reasons that Renner has absolutely no credibility in my eyes. He continually says, as he does in the article, that the book is factual, yet he changes his "facts" on a whim. Now here he is, saying that Fred has changed "his story" about the rag in the tailpipe, yet Fred has done nothing of the kind. From The Union Leader, 10/28/07: "But Mike Lavoie of Lavoie's Auto Care Center in Haverhill, who towed the Saturn that night, said he later spoke with Maura's father, Fred Murray, about the rag. Lavoie said it couldn't have been used in that manner as part of a suicide attempt. 'Her father said he told her to put it in, that it would keep the car from smoking. It didn't run that well,' Lavoie said." From Renner's own blog, 8/6/11: "While in Haverhill last week, I caught up with Mike Lavoie, the man who towed Maura's car from the scene of the accident the night she disappeared ... He noticed the rag and asked Fred Murray about it later.'He said he told her to put it there to keep it from smoking. The car was not running well.'" So, no, Fred does not keep changing his story, but Renner certainly does. No. Credibility. Whatsoever.

I have a general question for anybody who feels like answering it: Do you people really, honestly, think that she is still alive and ran away somewhere? barely two months before she disappeared she got caught using a stolen credit card to order pizza directly to her dorm room, this is obviously not a street-smart master criminal we are talking about here. so then people theorize that her family helped, yeah right, get real. At the beginning her family did everything they could to publicize this case, if it wasn't for them we would not have ever even heard of this case. if they didn't come up to New Hampshire and start doing interviews for national media the New Hampshire police never would have drawn the spotlight on this case themselves. if her family took an active role in her disappearance then why would they have chosen to put the spotlight on themselves? reading the forums dedicated to this case I see many people that apparently are in denial. they don't want to believe that this girl could have been abducted and murdered when in reality that is by far the most likely scenario. I would like to think that she's is alive as well, does anybody have anything even indicating that to be true? I know that there is no evidence but what is there to even suggest that she was planning or trying to start a new life? anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

sorry. the horse has left the barn. the door is closed. the horse was then found dragged, kicked and beaten on this very topix thread before its carcass suffered additional savage beatings. representatives of the official investigation have released no new findings to the public. in 10 years since MM's disappearance, fewer than 10 new facts have emerged and are verified. i repeat...no new news.

Maruchan you're totally right it is renters who changed his story not Fred. Fred always said that he told Mora to put the bag in the tailpipe, I don't believe him but that's another matter altogether.
putting a rag in her tail pipe would do absolutely nothing to stop the car from smoking, it wouldn't even stay. Its not like you can just put a rag a tailpipe and stop your car from smoking like hell. I refuse to believe that anybody is stupid enough to tell their daughter to do that, that statement really makes me think suspiciously of Fred. I try to tell myself that I don't think he would kill his daughter but there has been a few different statements made by him is that really makes me question what happened.
