For what it is worth. There is a new moron in town on the renner fantasy site called "Matthew Lyons" who insists that BA and "others in the area" were "off griders" and had something to do with Maura's disappearance. If I read is rambling correctly his theories are so out there that even renner hasn't taken them up. I don't know how an "off gridder" lives with grid electric and has phone service and then moves to a retirement community in Florida with the same but again, its renners site and nothing anyone says really has to make any sense. Boy how I wish they would get back to that compelling investigation about how the word "girl" was transformed into "steak" and all the social and legal implications of that and how that tremendous investigative effort furthered the search for her. In many ways it is good that renner has opted to most of his hard thinking only on his site. All that brain power should be concentrated in a very small area to try and make it look, well, mediocre, if not a total fail.

Now to get to what is really important. There are a ton of very strange living people within 50 miles of the accident. I went to the Mink Hills near Hillsborough and there are many, many, hermit-like people living in that area. They are living in isolated truck related, hermit like, hidden, isolated ?homes?. Two of them killed two people at the town offices in Newbury NH about 10 years ago because of a tax bill. After talking to people in the area it leads me to believe that there is a "possibility" that someone could have her in this area. I was not a believer until I spent today searching this area and learned what I learned. These are dangerous, strange people. The "keep out" signs are everywhere. With property under "current usage" which makes things tax cheap and does not allow these signs, there is extreme suspicion here.

I know I find them all "dangerous and strange people". Holy shit, keep out signs. Those bastards! How DAREEE they. Where do they get off. Trying to protect their property. Inconsiderate pricks. Not farming or renting the land so they get a tax break. I always laugh hardest when I listen to people who have acquired nothing through hard work, and they always want to point to people who worked their asses off and feel that they shouldn't be allowed to use or protect what they worked for. This country has some very strange individuals in it. The norm use to be, you worked your ass of for what you wanted and then no one thought that it was odd that you would protect that. It is disturbing to me that there are people out there so ingrained in the '60s logic that they think everything is supposed to be theirs because most everything has been handed to them in the past. They own nothing. They have no concept of working for what they want. So in their mind, everything is theirs and they seem to object when people that actually have worked for what they have put their individual mark on it.

It is remarkably sad that some people never try to attain anything more than what society hands them for free.

Stay sharp everyone. MDW believes that there is a "possibility" that Maura is in that area. After spending a whole day there. I hope he gets to talk to renner, because he believes that she is in Canada. Well maybe, could be Ireland or maybe Boston. Damn it! Can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Maura Murray lookalike. Hey! How are those brilliant posters working out for you renner? I can't wait for the next exciting installment of Where's Waldo, I mean Where's Maura. I bet if he keeps putting ads in papers all over the civilized world he might find lookalikes in Italy, Spain, England, Germany, etc. I hope he doesn't run out of funds for all those trips. renner, there is someone who looks like Maura who is working as a sheep farmer in Greece. Quick, get on that one.

I've said this before but it's worth repeating. People can believe it or not, that is up to them.
Butch (the SBD) was a nice guy. He had a small antique/gift shop business and people would stop through the years and look at the things he had to sell. NO ONE EVER DISAPPEARED that went into his garage where the shop was.
He taught the NH F&G Hunter Safety course to adults and children alike at the "secluded" gun club on RT 112. NO ONE EVER DISAPPEARED or was harmed in any way.
He also drove a school bus for some time. He had dropped kids off at the school on 116 (NONE OF THEM DISAPPEARED) and was headed home that night when he came across an accident on the curve before his house.
Because he was a nice guy he stopped and offered help which was refused and that when his life changed forever.
People on internet that never knew him or his wife or his mother accused, blamed and dragged him through the mud for years.
Even now that he is dead people that didn't know him in real life are still putting him in under a guilty light and accusing him of having something to do with her disappearance.
I know I and others have learned a lesson from this and that is to NOT stop to help anyone because if that person doesn't want help and decides to walk away your life may never be the same again. Some of Butch's last words were that he wished he had never stopped that night.

Someone emailed me a couple days ago and asked me if I knew if this was true. It seems on another forum someone stated that very shortly after Maura's accident Butch did much work on his house and put in a cement floor for a large garage. This is an outright lie.
Why in the world would he put so much money into a large garage and redo his house when he was retiring to FL?
However the new people that bought his house have put in a large garage where he works on vehicles and they did do a wonderful job remodeling the cabin. It looks great.
I just wish people would think and use common sense before they blurt out damaging lies and crap on internet forums. At least he can't be hurt by it anymore.
Butch was a NICE guy that only tried to help someone that night IMHO.

Thinking and common sense seem to be rare commodities with internet sleuths. Most, must have extremely unfulfilled and/or boring lives, enjoy making accusations with the anonymity of the internet. I think for some, it may be the only "power" that they think they have in their life. It's sad really. I think in many ways shack followed the same patterns. Oh and the truth rarely plays a part in their stories, nor does it seem to be needed. In many ways the truth tends to screw up the false world they have created so it is neither sought out or will be fought if it is offered. Again, I can point to shack as an example.

Thanks for your response Wowzer and it was a good one. I learned a few things about BA the person.
I don't really see posters attacking SBD the person. I see people asking the logical questions because he was the last person that we know of to see her. I do get your point about the damaging carnage to innocent people along the way. The Maura Murray forums are not the only media sourse that you will see this happen in. The internet can be a great tool but is a double edge sword.

True story but off topic a little.

A few weeks ago the wife and I were heading over to Job Lots and noticed a Jeep on the side of the other side of the road off into snow somewhat . I stopped because I knew we weren't far from the curve and there is no cell coverage. I was very cautious and aware when I asked if they needed help. I don't know why car jacking crossed my mind but it did. Anyways, come to find out, the guy pulled over to the side to view the river with his fiance and his starter crapped the bed. I went to the back of my car and dug out some camping rope to try and get him pulled out and rolling so he could pop the clutch and after 4 plus breaks of the roap we finally got it done. The smile on the young girls face in the car made it al worth it.

This past weekend up on the other end of the Kanc east of the Pemi overlook I had a similiar thing. A group of 2guys and 2 girls and their car went off the road so I stopped. Again no cell signal there so I asked if I could help and I tried with the rap again but this time no luck but they were greatful I stopped. A DPW truck stopped and took over so we headed home and they waved and smiled.I of course thought of the SBD and Maura case.

I would always stop and hebglp someone that needs it. The fact that SBD stopped was the right thing to do and it is unfortunate that things have not been resolved and his name gets brought up. If it were me, I would still not have any regrets for stopping because it was the right thing to do and I would have done it again.

The real moral of the story is to carry a hammer. Most times, a couple of raps on the starter will allow it to work. If it is the bendix or if the motor is on a bad winding. It will save you lots of rope. Wasn't there so I don't know for sure. But I know lots about bad starters and why they go bad. Drove a lot of shit boxes in my day.

I would be willing to wager that within 50 miles of anywhere in America you can find a bunch of people this person would consider strange. As.if Grafton county is the only place people live in trailers and put up no trespassing signs.

I have no doubt that this person would "see" whatever was in their thought for that minute. And the more they "thought" about it the more they would convince themselves that what they thought was the "truth".

I'll admit that those cars have been in my past. I don't think starters have changed much over the years though and of course there could always be a truly dead starter.

You know,

It's rare that I agree with granny, but, I always stop and offer assistance. In fact, I carry jumper cables, a boost pack, tow rope and two gallons of gas in my work truck at all times. I will never forget one time years ago when I was driving back from a trip down south in a blizzard in the mountains above Wilksbarre Pa. in January. The snow banks on the side of the road were massive and as I was slogging along, I noticed a red light coming out of the bank on the right hand side. The road was deserted and there were drifts that made travel hell even in my four wheel drive. I realized there was a vehicle buried in there and I knew I had to go back. I did and literally had to dig in to the vehicle. It was a young college girl who had slipped off of the road and gotten buried by the plow hours before! We didn't have cell phones back then and the poor girl was scared to death. She was smart enough to only run her motor for heat intermittently and crack her window for air as the exhaust would have been feeding right into her car. I brought her down to a service station with a pay phone and we called the police to let them know about her car and she called her boy friend to come from school and pick her up. I gave her my address and a week later I got a letter from her dad who was actually a police chief in a small town in Maryland.
It turned out that a plow truck demolished her car literally minutes after I had picked her up and he wanted to let me know that I saved her life and as far as he was concerned I was a hero. He wanted to meet me and thank me in person. I wrote back that, although I appreciated his sentiment and was very glad that things worked out the way they did, the reason I stopped was my mother and he should probably forward his letter to her.
My mom raised me to do the right thing. She's one of those wierdo's from a small town in NH. Funny, she drove a school bus for years. She's all of five foot two, but, if you cross her, she packs a wallop! She'll give you the shirt off of her back, but if she catches you mistreating someone or anything for that matter, yikes... I showed my mom the letter I got and she cried.......because the world has become such a place that what should be common practice and the accepted thing to do has become considered an act of heroism! I agree and when I read the crap I read at
JR 's blog written about someone who tried to help a stranger, it makes my stomach turn. Yes, a man intent on abducting a young woman is going to call the cops about the accident. It's an excellent setup for an abduction. They would never consider him a suspect! F-ing morons.
I'm actually with Granny on this one. I'll always stop to help. I've been helped by strangers and will always be thankful for it.

Living off the grid doesn't make someone a bad person does it? I don't understand how living off the grid correlates to someone being harmful. I wish that I could shake this electric bill myself. NH is ranked #47 of 51 with 51 being the highest rate.

I of course didn't know butch Atwood but I really think the timeline itself clears him. A "pro" would have a hard time abducting even a drunk woman with a head injury, then clean up after themselves in the time frame in question. These people would like to believe he did this and was so confident about it that he called the police himself ? It's very unlikely.
