I've always kept jumper cables in my car and have helped a lot of people in my time, but it was always in areas with lots of people around, mainly parking lots in shopping areas. As a woman, I feel it would be dangerous for me to stop and help somebody on a roadside, so would call LE instead to report it. After what happened to the SBD, I understand Wowzer's concerns and certainly empathize with them. It's a shame that good intentions have to be stifled by a situation such as this.

People need to remember that it wasn't stopping to help maura that caused people to question his potential involvement in this case, it was the fact that he lied about it & told multiple stories about what happened that night. There's this small group of people on topix that want to make SBD a martyr, they want to pretend that he was perfectly innocent and people just randomly decided to badmouth him for some unknown reason.
It wasn't random, people didn't just decided SBD was a bad guy, they read the interviews with him & realized that he told at least 2 distinctly different versions of events(I think it's really 3) & that he was the last person to see her & they asked if he could have been involved, sounds like a very reasonable question to me. So way back on the MM.com forum people asked this Q, but it was also determined that he didn't really couldn't have had anything to do w it. Nobody EVER was allowed to mention his real name either.
I'm sorry to say it but the SBD brought it all on himself, all he had to do was tell the truth and nobody would've even had any questions to ask. Since he told 2 versions then we know for a fact 100% that he was lying during one of those stories, & probably both. It's a reasonable assumption to think that both were lies & it's a valid question to ask why. Why would he feel the need to lie? Did he see something that night that scared him so bad he never spoke about it? That's exactly what the PI Kelly, who is a retired NHSP lieutenant btw, thinks. That guy knows the case & personally interviewed the SBD so His opinion carries some weight IMO.
Bottom line is that it was the lying that jammed SBD up, not the stopping to help. He said he wished he never stopped that night? Good, it's not like he actually did ANYTHING to actually help the situation. He was one of those assholes that talks about calling the cops instead of a tow truck. He lied & told people he was an ex cop, clearly he was a wannabe cop. There's a damn good chance that he was actually what scared her into leaving the scene by saying he was calling the cops. She hit a damn snowbank, what's a cop gonna do give her a ticket? She didn't need a cop she needed a tow truck.
Yea SBD was such a great hero, everybody should strive to be like him & there should be a small monument erected in his honor to recognize his heroism from that night.

At first I actually liked his blog & what he was doing but he's completely lost it at this point, his blog is little more than a rag sheet, a gossip column about the family of a missing girl, of all things. All of his posts lately have been total crap, looks to me like the family was proven right, this guy's a scumbag, sorry to say. Dude has no shame, make shit up, exaggerate shit & state opinions as fact...yea this is gonna be a GREAT book.
