Bill, do you know where the nearest AT trailhead to Maura's crash is? I'm planning a thru for 2016 and am thinking it would be nice to take a zero in the area if I make it that far. I know you peak Mt. Moosilauke then head towards Franconia Notch but as far as trailheads I haven't found much information. Look up acme mapper 2.0. Use the topo part on the mapper function to show all the trails and trailheads. If you need more help let me know. Bill

Bill What does he think he's going to find after 10 years? The trails around here have been traveled for 10 years by hikers. If there was anything close to the trails I would think it would have been found. Unless someone told him they saw something in a specific area then I think he's wasting his time and a hikers time. The higher mountains are still covered in snow and the ground is soft and muddy below. I think he's searching for a needle in a haystack IMHO but hey it's his time to waste.

I think it's quite possible there could be something about Maura in a cache. It wouldn't be obvious to any hiker walking through unless they were specifically looking for it. Perhaps someone left something about her in one or signed using her name. I'm sure it's very unlikely whatever is there is significant, though. Of course, it would be awesome if she were alive and geocaching in the Whites -- but it's obvious that's almost certainly not the case. Maybe it's not even an actual cache. Maybe someone just sent Renner coordinates and said "look here." Who knows. I'm sure someone is up for it and we'll find out soon.

Bill I'll check it out. I've used topo software in the past but I've never seen anything that displays a sufficient number of trails without having to shell out money to download additional map packs. Thanks, I'm excited to look at this.

Please don't fall for James Renner's latest ruse. First it was Canada, then Ireland, Georgia, Vegas, Virginia, and now back to New Hempshire. He is simply trying to boast moral amongst his flock while. If Renner has a real lead, he should forward it to the cops. I live in the Boston area, use GPS, and have been hiking the Berkshires and the White Mountains nearly all of my life, but I wouldn't help Renner in the Maura Murray case. On the other hand, if Renner wants to investigate whether his dead serial rapist grandfather Keith Simpkins was also a serial killer, I'd be glad to offer my services!

I hope as you say that someone possibly sent him coordinates because without an accurate , specific place to search it would be near impossible to find even a bull moose in these mountains. When Renner first started I had high hopes in him but not so much anymore.

After the past history I doubt anyone is gullible enough to think that this is anything different than his other ruses. And you're right, if he has a real lead I'm sure the NHSP and F&G would be happy to set up a search. He should call them if it's that important.

House of Melissas wrote: <quoted text> Ruse, you're the guy that claimed Maura was in the rock quarry. WTF? It's a limestone quarry, not a rock quarry. And it wasn't a ruse. It was, and still is, a solid theory based on hours of careful research about the bus driver, Butch Atwood. Makes a lot more sense than Renner's delusional conspiracy theory of how Maura Murray travels the world using stolen identities, aided by her family and friends. Later this month, Renner will probably announce the latest sighting of Maura Murray ... at the Boston Marathon. That should generate alot of traffic for his bogus blog.

Not very convincing out in the open, but very eager to mislead others behind the scenes. Your only purpse here is to fulfill your twisted ambition: to mislead because you can, and because you enjoy it. Your mask of feigned certainty is transparent.
