just me wrote: Hi Snowy, Silky didn't move to MN until August of 2008, and then she died just a few months later. She did spend time working on the Briana maitland case, and was put up for a month at the Black Lanturn but then poof, the family wanted her off the case. That was still before her accident in late 2005 where she lost her voice for the most part. Helena sent her a greeting card for every day she was in the hospital. Silky worked the forums, went on the searches....many times alone, and from the inside out until late fall of 07. That's when she decided to give it all up and move back to her home state. She did make that map of the missing. Beth was very interested in the connections. But the map was not and still is not perfect. A couple of the people have been found and it's not updated. The only reason it says todays date is because it's been accessed. Hope this helps. thank you for the overview. additional information gathered elsewhere, some time ago, by others to fill in the blanks is disturbing, and is unsuitable to repeat here. obviously, there was a very strong connection, Beth to Helena, and SB is very much aware of the details, regardless of whether or not she ever met her in person. "Silky's map" was the tool SB used to defend her theory and rants on topix about serial killings. further, she repeatedly made reference to NH's being "unsafe", regardless of data and tables presented to dispute her unsupported statements. when SB was asked to clarify "Silky"/Beth's role in MM's disappearance, she became extremely defensive, and, of course, rude. these off-putting behaviors, along with so many years of speculation presented as unsupported "facts" have tried the patience of rational, intelligent contributors to this forum and others. affirmations, and then denials, about the tiniest bits of information has been the name of the game for as long as i have been following. we still see this happening today. again, thank you for the information, just me. hope you and your family are doing well.

Helena was just starting out, she was flustered by the task at hand, finding out any info, and running her pages, she needed help with all that. She was sending emails to many people, beth included, for help. There was alot of time spent on crimenews2000, and I'm pretty sure Beth was a contributor on that board. Time has erased some of that info, but Beth herself told me that Helena had writen to John Philpin to see if it would be ok to contact Beth. With that said, Beth replied that she was quite suprised and was Helena sure she meant to contact her. This made me think Beth was in law enforcement in some way. I also receieved a copy of that first exchange. Helena was "in tears" upon hearing from Beth about the area and the different theories that Beth had. They arranged to meet after several emails and then Beth became a part of the team. On crimenews2000, there was this poster "Billyjack" who was making disturbing comments about Maura and the red truck. I've often wondered if Beth was using that nick name. PURE SPECULATION. I was as suprised as anyone when I found out, read the email between Beth and the PI in 2006. In that email, Beth admits to the PI that she is just a gumshoe, armchair detective. Just an ordinary person trying to help. The PI was insisting that this person Helena's team would refer to, was misleading the case with the vin info from the red truck amonst other things. I know the rest of that story, but will stop at that. I still have those emails. When Beth died, her parents were there packing her things and later sent me Beths collection of cameos. Not sure why, I hadn't asked for anything. Beth had died just after Christmas.....I had attempted yet another belated greeting and that's when her mom answered the phone and said she had passed away. They had heard my messages, but did not have my number. They must have found my address in Beth's belongings. Then, later I was sent a copy of the death certificate and was pretty shocked to find she was a housekeeper. I still have that document.

I can confirm that Beth made the list of missing people. She had been working on it for years and many found it to be helpful. I received an email in 2005 from snewzerstripod and assumed Beth was with the media too. That email came to my personal account, not the MMM forum. I had NEVER given out my real email and wondered how she got it. But I never asked and she didn't offer much info, she let me think what ever I wanted to think...... Beth also worked on alot of other cases, got involved in the search efforts numerous times, for numerous people.

Wowzer the real one wrote: <quoted text> Just me what red truck and vin number are you referring to? Well, Beth had been investigating, gave Helena some vin numbers and they turned out to be from the apartment building she lived in. She had taken pictures and used yellow tape........then helena was telling the PI who challenged all this.

Take your backpack and three bottles of booze and lock your car doors? My biggest issue is how would the person picking her up know where she was without phone reception. I doubt the accident was staged as she hit hard enough to deploy her airbag and the cracked windshield could have been from her head. She could have suffered from a delayed or slow brain bleed which could account for her disappearance. She may have taken the alcohol for consumption figuring she could make her destination on foot. Question is why did she do alot of her actions like leave without telling anyone. I do believe she intended to return home having taken her studies with her. I feel she as many college students was under much stress and needed some mental health time off. Especially after wrecking dads car, NO ONE knows what truly goes on inside someones head no matter how well we know them, We can only make assumptions. This area is pretty unforgiving and more so in winter. People die from hypothermia in much less remote places under better circumstances.

Just read the info on Renner's blog. Some was interesting but he's an author writing a book, you don't sell books that aren't interesting. I am baffled by the rag in the tailpipe some people feel was intentionally put there to disable her car. Try putting a rag in your tailpipe and drive down the road. Maybe I'm not skilled enough but it blows out EVERY time! Anyone else try this and what was your result? yet an author doesn't research the probability of this and quotes a mechanic ( lavoie ) saying it could have been put there to stall her car. Also not impressed with the bank account info that Maura opened an account at Citizens around 2006/2007. No printout or evidence just an email from another unnamed source. Then forensics on her PC indicates she was searching about the effect of alcohol on fetus's. I thought law enforcement was keeping everything sealed? Interesting but no absolute verification, once again this man has done some leg work but some appears to be speculation and unverified. Authors have been known to take liberty with so called facts, and some people could be playing him. The pregnancy info could explain her radical behavior, it could even explain her leaving the party to go see dad, she had enough courage from drinking to tell him the truth but an accident intervened.

I still have that document. thank you for filling us in on some of this history. it explains, at some level, the direction the "family" investigation took as they relied on individuals outside of LE. it's a shame that when certain professionals came along to offer their expertise and sought fact-finding that they were met with intense obfuscation by the Murray family and their representatives, and yet the family relied on non-professionals. obviously, Beth left NH for MN at some point, and we can surmise there were problems surrounding her involvement with an active investigation. the cause of her death, to my understanding, was attributed to an unusual circumstance. while Helena has been known to take responsibility for coordinating an information exchange with the public, her alter-egos/team have represented a disconnect by their providing misinformation and by hostile exchanges. it persists to this day. your help, just me, is refreshing and appreciated.

Bethtold me she was there the night that someone who was attacked came in. I just assumed she may have been a nurse, LE, I really don't recall. But then beth sent me the Shawdow of death book and mentioned where to look for that experience. I still have that book, but heck if I know what it means....that she was there, etc.

You're welcome. I think what you've said here makes sense. Her death was due to an accident she suffered in 2005. There was carbon minoxide in the home and luckily Beth made it out of the house and into the yard where a neighbor could find help for her. Beth's parents said it would take a couple of months for the cause of death to come in. By Dec 2007, Beth was suffering terribly from parkinsons. She shook alot. And even though her parents said they would keep me posted as to the final cause, they did not. This is the second daughter they have lost and now have no children. I'm sure they're still numb.

Yep, that's what alot of people think or that Maura was running from these people, either way, Beth sent in some info "she had uncovered" and was incouraged to share that. It was Beth who told me that there was a young lady working at an area MacDonalds. She was a town snitch with Law enfforcement, and some thought Maura driving through may have been mistaken with her. Still makes no sense no matter how I look at this whole thing. That if it was Maura there at the car, and not some kind of look alike who carried out the last sighting of MM, where did she go? What was she doing? What I found to be very interesting was that Maura spent New Years in NH. No mention if Billy went with, and I don't recall hearing about where Maura stayed after Christmas time. Even if Maura left the 1st day of 2004, where did she go...because she wasn't back at campus until the second full week into January. So on a side note, how could she pull that off? I'm too tired to stay awake any longer. Night ya'll
