Fair enough.
Getting back to the subject of credit card fraud, if you ever should find yourself near the district court, I think that it would be worth a stop to the criminal clerk's office. The idea that Maura is in hiding is largely premised on the assumption that she might be avoiding the criminal consequences of her actions. If you determine that there are no pending charges, I would think, you could invalidate that theory.
Sorry, I have no interest in any connection between the credit card thing and her disappearance. I take your word for the fact that the charge is gone. I've never thought Maura was in hiding for anything to do, in part or whole, with a credit card offense.

I agree about self responsibility, I just happen to think Columbo and Renner share it. If you continually poke a hornets nest with a stick, sure it's the hornet's fault for stinging you, but it is reasonable for the poker to expect the sting, since the hornet has stung in the past. You can't say "I knew it could sting, but it didn't have to sting so hard". It's the nature of the beast and if you provoke it you can't claim ignorance of the result.
Okay, but, the hornet stung an innocent bystander and then threatened to keep stinging the innocent bystander until the offending party would comply and allow him ( JR ) to sting him.
It was very interesting that the only time JR directed any comment at me here was when I questioned whether the school he teaches at was aware of his behavior....Did I insinuate that this school hired perverts or that I was going to start smearing his school? Did I tell James that I was going to contact the school and let them know what he does? No, I didn't. It's his lively hood for one and for two, although I doubt that they would care for his shenanigans, as he is by virtue of his employment, a representative of theirs, he isn't doing what he does in their name. DC isn't doing what he does in the name of his former employer either. It would be dirty pool to try and drag his employer into this. Just like it was dirty pool for him to take a small family owned business hostage in DC's case.
James was pretty pissed about my mentioning his place of employment in my post. In fact, he tossed some threats out my way after that. As I said, right or wrong, I go after the offender, not the innocents.
I'll tell you this as well; James would never have the balls to meet the Detective face to face, not without a serious posse. You don't have to like the dude, but, I've been to his FB page. He may be in his fifties, but he's a beast and would send James back to the flat lands with a whole new respect for yankees!

Good post, mainly correct, but kinda apples and oranges in an important regard.

Renner has an established and recent history of somewhat violent, confrontational, and unlawful behavior - in a courtroom, no less. This is beyond dispute. In today's world, the school at which he teaches might not want to be known as a school that hires adjudicated offenders to teach young, impressionable students.

Who or what are Fink and Gillette?
Unless an account was hacked or used without authorization, it appears that Epter is either Robert Fink or Peter Gillette.

Epter, as soon as the story hit the web, left a comment on Billy Jensen's February 2014 article in Boston Magazine about Maura's disappearance. The comment obviously and almost exclusively emphasized the connection between Sam Ledyard and Joseph Anderson.

In fact, Epter even referred to himself as an "objective observer," a term frequently used in the pre-publication rumble about the source of the Geocities letter, the identity of Suzanne, and so on - a mud fight that occurred just hours before the article was published.

For sure, but I doubt Akron cares about his offenses. It's not like he's tenure track or someone important. They probably barely know he exists.

I have no idea what these ramblings mean, and I do not care to know. You seem to be suggesting that "Epter" has some connection to both music and Suzanne. It's worth noting that Suzanne used the ironic monikers "white noise" and "adagio." As much as I disapprove of her provision of false information about the case, I acknowledge her sense of humor. I could see her posting a comment like the one posted by Epter.

There's a link to the Boston Magazine article, here, complete with "Epter" comment. http://notwithoutperil.com/2014/02/17/the-int...

Someone must have persuaded Mark Ruddock to let Maura go from the Corolla crash scene. Because he never would otherwise have let her leave.

Pretty short list. And someone on that list is pretty damn nervous about it, too. Damn nervous.
