If I was alone after having an accident, cold, in the dark and afraid I would much rather take my chances and walk to a warm house than walk off into the darkness.

mauracomehome,
You make some valid points here. Apparently, Fred Murray never ever heard from LE regarding that knife after having sent it by mail to, IIRC, the NHSP, and I donīt recall ever having read any kind of reference to the knife being made by the NHSP.
The supposedly bloody knife, the samples of blood found on the floor of a closet in the A-frame house by a team of PIīs, the supposed find of hair and duct-tape by a previous poster "Matthew" (while out hunting) somewhere in the forests near the Rte 112/Rte 116 area east of where Mauraīs car ended up...
It all creates a highly disquieting picture.
Add to that the riddle of the "vanishing" state trooper, the possibility of a "first accident" involving Maura further west on Rte 112 and the type of damage to the hood of Mauraīs car which indicates a collision with some sort of high-riding vehicle rather than crashing into a snowbank...

Wowzer,
How could you state that Maura "walked off into the darkness" when she could easily have been persuaded, coerced or more or less forced into a passing vehicle.
Granted, Maura could have run off into the darkness in a state of panic, but the tracking dog(s) lost her track at the corner of Rte 112 and Bradley Hill Road, indicating that she likely didnīt go any further east on 112.
To me, it would therefore seem much more likely that she was picked up by the driver of a passing vehicle, willingly or not so willingly.

or the driver if a red pick up truck with Mass plates that was first seen at the Swiftwater Station/Stage Stop and then on Bradley Hill Rd. Oh wiat, didn't Fred Murray own a red pick up truck about that time?

Actually, the blood was not found to be pure blood--it was menstrual fluid according tot he reports I've read. How can you possibly say what Fred Murray has or hasn't heard about? the man states that he travels to the area all the time and searches the area---I have NEVER seen him there, and I am in the area all the time on foot, on ATV and on snowmobile.

How could they not know that? I thought everybody knew that? Oh wait. They haven't read anything that's why they don't know any basic information about this case.

Or, I'm starting to believe that this is a group of people (who have been here before) who intentionally are here just to try to reignite meaningless dialog on this case. They know there is nothing new, so they are making stuff up they know is wrong. They are the new version of Shack lobbing a turd over the wall to try to stir everyone into this mind numbing activity. All we need to do is keep rebutting the mildly stupid and incorrect points. The ones that people might think, could be true. The really stupid points don't need to be worried about. Normal people will see those for what they are. You know, really stupid.

how can you be certain they are not some of the originals? someone has a frank-stinkin'-nasty little attitude that is reminiscent of a well known fixture or two. time wasters. it's been said before...nothing new here...time to move on.

An opinion? Yea an opinion or a judicious use of logic. Seen it hundreds of times. She was at the car, witnesses saw her. Then she wasn't there and no one saw anyone else. So yes, she left the area. Unless......wait, unless it was one of the pesky UFOs we keep hearing about??
Bill
One witness stated he spoke with a young woman who told him she had phoned for help. The couple who "saw" the individual with the car, could not agree whether the light was a cigarette or a cell phone light (so these were not witnesses who had a close-up look at the person). The fact they saw a light sounds as though it was dark outside and given the approximate time for a February evening in the Eastern time zone....it MUST have been dark. Maura had been wearing a dark jacket so it would be difficult if not impossible for someone to see her walking away from the car. In my opinion, she made it as far as the intersection where the dog lost her scent.

And of course this is wrong. She would, if in panic mode, which I suspect she was after knowing that the SBD was calling the police and likely drunk, accept a ride from anyone or far more likely, just run off. Happens all the time. Most times with no actual plan at all. Seen it dozens of times if not hundreds.
Some people should read the reams of information on this subject that is written before. I think I will just wait until this silliness burns itself out.
Bill
Yeah, Bill. I think that you were involved in the search for her. Let's hope your attitude of "she's likely drunk" and ran off somewhere did not decrease your motivation to look for her. I can almost hear you, "Oh, just another drunk who ran off, we get hundreds of 'em!" Had she wanted to accept a ride or help from anyone, she would have accepted the SBD's offer of assistance. In fact, if your they "just run off, happens all the time" perspective has any basis, why did she not run off when she saw the school bus approaching? No way. I believe Maura had been involved in survival training of some type and she was a hiker. She would NOT have tromped off into snowy, wooded area clad only in street clothes in 12-degree temperature, wandering around in the dark.
