Basic information? Seems to me there was a bit of documentation (basic information) missing that evening. Missing or lacking documentation as well for the first accident, the one that occurred just prior to the accident where the Saturn ended up in the ditch. I know snowy road make for a lot of accidents and I know people become quite busy...but....

I've heard this as well. Have you ever read anything about why people believe a rogue le offer might be involved? What leads some of them to believe this?

mauracomehome,
Yes, your possibility there is certainly just as valid as a host of other possibilities in this case.
And yes. itīs been pretty much made clear that the name of the State trooper is J K-M. Some other poster here posted a clickable link to Trooper K-Mīs official resume the other day, which makes some interesting reading.
Yes, there are many possibilities. It's different from cases where homicide is evident, such as the L. Winans case (she had at one time lived in the Sterling College/Craftsbury Common VT area); she and her female companion were murdered in Shenandoah National Park. She had attended the outdoor program (?) at Sterling College at one time. Even though she'd been murdered in Shenandoah National Park, the case interested me once I learned she had lived in Craftsbury Common NH. What I've noticed is that many of these young women were especially fond of outdoor activities such as hiking, camping. They loved the mountains.

Correction: L. Winans had at one time lived in Craftsbury Common, Vermont(I'd incorrectly indicated NH in my previous note). I've been interested in cases in VT, NH and ME.

That red truck. The "red truck" piece always seemed as though it had been simply added to the mix to create additional confusion. A diversion technique to move everyone from the rogue LE officer theory and Bill's UFO theory? The "red truck" piece was also more compatible with the highly pushed and popular runaway theory. Wonder how many people in that area owned red trucks. Blue trucks, too. They're both popular colors.

OK, I'll play... a little. You need a geography lesson. Why would someone traveling up I-93 heading to Bartlett be going anywhere near where Maura was? It is hours out of the way. This isn't thinking out of the box. It's using common sense. She didn't call anyone from that crash site. There was no way this mystery person would know that she had crashed. And logic dictates that the mystery person wasn't going to be passing Maura heading up I-93.
Bill
Maura had phoned Wakefield, MA earlier in the day (Feb. 9, 2004). Someone between 0001 and 2400 hours on Feb. 9, 2004 phoned Maura. The call would have been to confirm meeting time and place. Maura, enroute to their agreed upon meeting place, met with foul play and never arrived at her destination. The "mystery" person may have waited for her at their mutually agreed upon destination, but did not come forward for the same reason Maura never disclosed to family and friends where she was going Feb. 9, 2004.

Bill "

How do you know this person was headed "to" Bartlett. He may have been headed "toward" Bartlett, in fact I believe he was headed in that direction. However, I believe neither party may have wanted to be seen in Bartlett. People continue to question "why" Maura had not told those close to her about her trip to NH. Quite simply, she may not wanted them to know.

More crap. She had no known survival training but was a hiker. She did go through Beast training which lasts six weeks in summer at West point. It is similar to basic training in the Army and is not a survival school. To give perspective I had 13 weeks of training in my first year in the Army as a private.

Don't know if she actually even camped before. And it was not 12 degrees out. It was around 31 when she crashed and dropped to 28 at midnight and rose to 36 by noon on the 10th. There were no 12 degree temperatures when she crashed. Again, going over the material before posting would help from making yourself look foolish or clueless.

Lets think about this a little. If Maura was in Haverhill when she had her accident. We have to ask where they were going to meet? If it wasn't Haverhill, how would Maura be waiting for that mystery person to drive by, to be picked up? If she contacted them when they were on I-93 near Londonderry? That was the scenario I was trying to understand and was questioning. How could the person know that Maura was there so she could wait there to be picked up by s/he? That person would have to divert, wildly to pick her up. How would they know?

And yes, I am certain the lie about the dead relative was to throw friends and employers off about her actual intentions. I have no doubt about that.

I try to stay away from doughnuts, fat and cholesterol you know, but I do occasionally drink coffee. I do like popcorn too. Especially when the drama ramps up in the movies or if I can't afford the movies, I come here.

Bill you really need to pay more attention and research before posting. We all know that she went camping with her father to jigger johnson quite often. It never ceases to amaze me that you actually know very little. And by the way, we really don't care about your 13 weeks of army training. Just another example of hey look at me and whatIi have done, I have seen and done it all says Bill.

Yeah, Bill. I think that you were involved in the search for her. Let's hope your attitude of "she's likely drunk" and ran off somewhere did not decrease your motivation to look for her. I can almost hear you, "Oh, just another drunk who ran off, we get hundreds of 'em!" Had she wanted to accept a ride or help from anyone, she would have accepted the SBD's offer of assistance. In fact, if your they "just run off, happens all the time" perspective has any basis, why did she not run off when she saw the school bus approaching? No way. I believe Maura had been involved in survival training of some type and she was a hiker. She would NOT have tromped off into snowy, wooded area clad only in street clothes in 12-degree temperature, wandering around in the dark.
She could not have seen the SBD coming until he turned the corner and she was caught in the headlights. It seems you are not familiar with the area.
There are many times a drinker will leave the vehicle if involved in an accident so they can sober up before speaking to LE.
A friends son and a friend were drinking and rolled their car over not far from where Maura went off the road. Before the police or FD got there no one was around. Yes it does happen too often.

I do like Boston Cream donuts although I try to eat one only once in awhile. Now I LOVE coffee.
But for evenings of entertainment in front of the computer my preference is popcorn and Pepsi.

You really need to look up the definition of "camping". That is called "car camping". Just because you sleep in a tent, it doesn't mean you were really camping.

I used that as a reference to what they do in Beast training. I actually have much more training than that. And no, I haven't done it all, but I have done enough to be useful in these types of activities. I continue to learn though. I like learning. What do you like?

so you are saying that Maura who went camping with two other sisters and her father stayed in a car? you really need to read before you post. That is just plain stupid logic on your part.

"I always thought it was strange that Fred would take the girls up there on their own. They would be 14, 15, 16 years old, camping together. If my Dad had ever asked me to go camping with him I'd have said,'what are you, nuts?'"
