didn't one of mauras friends say that she has taken off before to get away for a bit? I thought I remember seeing that.
jwb,
You´re right about that.
One of Maura´s friends mentioned that when interviewed for the "Disappeared" series on the MM case (Miles to nowhere).
I just watched the five youtube sections of this program, and Maura´s friend mentions that Maura once went off to Boston on her own without telling her friends about her plans.

Very good, so it is very possible she just found their info when she did an online search.
Even in 2004 I would say absolutely, it is possible, probably even likely.

This is of course a plausable explanation however, if the cw story holds water and she was heading down 112 e. she may have either continued to lincoln (most likely) or gone 116 towards franconia. If she was indeed running why would she go into the woods far enough not to be found. You would think she would have stayed close to the roadside and would have been found. There really are no side roads accept the small bridge just past 116 on the right just before the campground. I want to say there are a total of four houses in that stretch. If she got past that area there are no houses or roads
I do not think she wanted to be discovered. Again, the crashed car/drinking thing. To that ends she may have gotten off the road, into the woods, when she heard other cars were coming. After CW saw her (if it was her) she may have gotten too far from the road and gotten lost. Even earlier if it wasn't her seen by CW. Simple to do. Not a lot of side roads but acres and acres of forest. And yes, if she had gotten to Lincoln there are buses and hundreds of cars she could have caught a ride from.

Again, all of this had been gone over repeatedly. Nothing new here.

well, she didn't introduce herself to him, did she? so-called eyewitnesses can easily mistake one individual for another, right? it wasn't a crime scene...it was a car sliding off the road, and a brief interaction. her car was positively identified...but she was not.
Snowy,
Try to calm down. What evidence automatically leads you to believe it was not a crime scene? Detective "Snowy" rides again. Maybe you meant to say that it was not immediately treated as a crime scene. Correct? It was initially treated as just one more abandoned vehicle, sliding off the highway. Right? Take a peek at the Supporting Affadavit for Issuance of a Search Warrant that Mr. Renner had located in his investigation. Refer to No. 3, which reads: "A witness at the scene later confirmed that the driver was Murray."

jwb,
Yes. I believe her friend/friends had commented that she had disappeared to Boston without telling anyone where she was going. Of course, this is from their point of view, their comment about Maura having not told anyone. Obviously, if Maura had been meeting someone, that person would have known of her plan to go to Boston. Unless, of course, Maura had planned to surprise this individual.

jwb,
My understanding is that there was about 2 ft of snow in the woods. An evening trot through 2 ft of snow in a wooded area after dark is not a "fun" time. Surely, she would have known authorities could have tracked her because of the snow and found her anyway. She was betting, hoping that the person she was traveling with would be by shortly before authorities arrived. Besides, she had no way of knowing that anyone had called the police. She decided to head on foot down the highway believing her traveling companion would be coming by.

this, again, is old information....that she "once" went to Boston for a day....and didn't tell anyone. to project this tiny bit of information forward and relate it to her disappearance is sloppy and meaningless.

Ok he stated it to Mr Healy

again just stating that is where the confusion to some lies . I am in no way saying that he said that for fact
Mr. Healy has shown to exhibit a lack professionalism in some of his comments and I would take what he says with a grain of salt. Especially to slander a man who's dead and cannot defend his reputation.
Perhaps Butch said he worked for the Taunton Mass PD and Healy took as he meant he was an LE. I think Healy was livid because after he pursued Butch to Florida, and Butch refused to talk to him. I would have slammed the door in his face too!

hmmm, that's a leap. the driver is missing, but was confirmed to be MM by way of a search? the dots aren't connecting.

Again. Please research instead of just writing the first thing that pops into your head. It was February. There had been many thaw/freeze cycles. There wasn't powder snow, especially near the road. It was mostly hard pack. Ever try to track someone over hard pack? I have. Its just slightly easier than tracking someone over Canadian shield rock.

She knew that someone was going to call the police. SBD said as much when he knew her story was bullsxxt. Who wouldn't think that an accident would draw police? I know all the inebriated people I saw run from accidents. They all knew the police would show up. I don't think Maura was retarded. She knew police would show up. I think she was scared, so she ran.

Again, with the invisible traveling companion.

Is there any way possible that when you make posts you could make reference to what the quote is, where it came from, and what you infer from it? I struggle to try to guess what the heck people are talking about and what point you are trying to make.

Be clear and articulate, please? Make some sense? Take the time to make a post worth reading?

Thanks!!

You'd think the cell phone bill would have been scoured intensively, over and over.......and over again.

When you have a missing person how do you overlook a call made the same day they disappear?

Why not call every number? Why not google the calls? Why not ask LE if they checked the calls?

Why why why.......

Why wait so long?

If the duct tape was found along the roads where the construction worker saw someone dashing along, avoiding attention. There could have been a free for all going on in the woods and one person ran off, not being able to handle it.
Nana and Laurie both said Maura knew how to handle herself in the wilderness.
What self defence lessons had she learned?
Brianna had a black belt. I think if a person didn't use their skills, it may have been because the person outweighed them by authority or maybe size.

Maybe one of the officers or office personel DID google it only to find it was a recording in one case and a condo in another. I know Linda Salamone did say that no one got ahold of her, but maybe the police already had a pretty good idea what happened to Maura after all. Even if it was just that she was sent away for safety. or that she was too far off the beaten trail to be there. Would police just call and ask if there were rentals? Would they just call and ask if Maura Murray had a room, as in a nothing call in Linda Salamones memory. No incling that it was police who called...

OR Did all this come about the time her hard drive was copied and they know more than they're saying. For example, we never heard until lately that Maura may have thought she was pregnant. Maybe the searches let on to a certain person, but no names to go by, ie....

Regarding the observation of the duct tape -- this was posted:

"Matthew - Lincoln, NH - Feb 9, 2010
I was hunting 7.8 miles from the site of the car crash of Maura and found cloths with duct tape with hair in the tape. I called the state police they said they would call me back. Then 4 days they called me and wanted me to show them where the cloths were since the first call to the police it snowed but we found them and never heard nothing else."

If you map out exactly 7.8 miles from the crash site (472 Wild Ammonoosuc Road) down (eastbound) Rte. 112 you'll come to a bit of a dirt lay-by on the north side of the highway with a field beyond. Looks like a decent stopping point for someone going into the woods. The Google map date is October, 2008 and there was a greenish/silver Chevrolet truck parked there when they photographed that stretch. Could be the approximate locale. The lay-by is a couple of miles east of where the contractor reported having seen someone running near the road.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game website also provides sectional on-line topographical maps:

Frostman, The map link was interesting as it shows a gravel pit there. Wasn't a tip given early on so Fred searched a Gravel Pit. But based on the dissapeared series the pit looked like the pits that are west of the crash site down near the tree farm. I wonder if this area has been searched.

If the person had a weapon the skills would more than likely be useless. Brianna had been assaulted by another girl previous to her disappearing and never even tried to defend herself which I found odd.
